What awareness does society have regarding gender identity? How does Nanotrasen regard gender its in policies?

Gender identity has never, to my knowledge, been used in decisions, policies, or other game decisions. It is very much determined by the players. There are no specific policies for gender identity and I don't believe there are any references to it in Directives. It's simply something that has been managed and maintained by the playerbase itself. There are mentions that alien species have difficulty telling apart the genders of other aliens; something people play with by intentionally using the wrong pronouns when talking to an unfamiliar alien.

Probably similar to most corporations - They'll take you at face value and not ask questions as long as you do your job. NT is not interested in either catering to, or offending you, they wouldn't give a damn about your personal life unless it stands in the way of profits or becomes an issue for productivity

Two sexes in humans. People of both sexes walk around with dubious sexuality so thankfully idiotic terms like gender-fluid were stamped out of existence. Trans people can get near perfect surgery for sex change so the uncanny valley has effectively been removed as well. If you have both sexual organs you are effectively a weirdo by your own choice.
