robotic limbs and organs only serve to hinder characters as it is now, i suggest we give robotic limbs uses.

these upgraded prosthetic limbs and organs can only be acquired in robotics, giving robotics more work to do instead of making cyborgs and rarely any exosuit other than a ripley(and those are useless now).

these new prototypes would not only give you the regular damage you get when EMP'd but the shock would knock you out for a while


examples of these upgrades would be,



Eyes:

  • Meson Scanners: gives you built in meson goggles in your eyes, can be turned off and on

    Material Scanners: for the miners and powergaming cats

    Security HuD

    Medical HuD

    Scientific scanners: allow you to do what the science goggles do, like checking reagents in drinks, the bartender could also put this to good use

    IR scanners: gives you tajara like vision, kind of useless without another pair of eye equipment right now

    anyone with these getting EMP'd would be knocked out cold and permanently blinded

 


Heart:

  • EMP Shielding: only thing i can think of for the heart, shuts down the equipment in the cybernetic heart, causing the character to die temporarily, then there are two attempts to jump start the heart, each at 50% chance of success.

 


Arms/Hands:

  • Fast storage system: allows you to fit any small item in your arm to pull out when needed

    the combitool hand: can switch between acting as a screw driver, a crowbar and a wirecutter. for the engineers and other people into mechanical construction

    the stunrod Arm: a stunbaton built into the arm, lacks the ability to harmbaton and holds a smaller charge, mainly because smacking someone with it would make it break off the arm, holds enough for two prods.

    Plasma cutter arm: for the miners and engineers needing easy access to a infinite fuel welder, would be probably need to nerf the damage the plasma cutter do to 10 burn instead of 15 if this gets abused

    Flash Hand: a light bulb in the palm of the hand, for heads of staff, robotics and any anti synthetic rights movement member

 


Upperbody(IPCs only):

  • Counter EMP system: shuts down all electronics in the system to prevent damage: the whole ordeal and reboot sequence would take two minutes, giving you a good chance to take advantage of the IPC if you're after them, but also stops instant gank of bystanders. the system doesn't counter all damage, you would end up with between 100-150 burns spread around the whole chassis. 40% chance of system lag failure causing it to trigger to late, ending up with you dead anyway

    Internal Cooling system: a prototype cooling system built in, doubles power consumption for IPCs, EMPing it has a 50% chance to gib the IPC leaving them as positronic brains

 

note: right now, you can not dislocate a prosthetic limb, and these arms could prove very annoying to security, so if this goes through, we should add the ability to disconnect robotic limbs, game mechanic wise, it would be the same as dislocation, but ICly it would be more simple for the average roboticist or security officer to do

this would be very nice to have, albeit getting one would be a little tedious after awhile, as you have to get them in robotics.

i noticed most of the arm upgrades are for engineering, maybe add some more variety.

you could also maybe get something for legs, like faster running or maybe even pushing things faster as you kick them away.
