Upgraded Alden Saras-Pova Counter

Suggestion is basically allow RnD to make an upgraded version of the alden saras-pova counter that is stronger and can detect exact locations of background radiation levels instead of just saying background radiation levels detected.

I don't see why this would be desireable though. I've only played xenoarch a little, but the counter is a gameplay mechanic that tells you how close you are. Using it is playing a game of hot and cold.

An upgraded one that tells you exactly where to look, is just removing gameplay. Fun gameplay imo. I don't think we should add items that just remove gameplay mechanics, unless they're annoying ones.

I remember one annoying mechanic of xenoarch. accidentally overdoing the digging and destroying the thing you're trying to excavate. that's no fun. Things that make that easier might be nice, but the finding? I think not.

No. I mean after you find a certain number of anomalies all it says is "Background radiation detected". Which basically means "Good luck finding it somewhere on the asteroid!" And at that point you have to go around and spam click every tile and hope that its an anomaly which isn't fun anymore. I like finding them, just not like that.

No one knows how the Asp works.

But here's how it works.

The magic-do-random-stuff anomalies are supposed to have a range in which they can be detected by the Asp.

If the asp is within range, it will say "exotic energies detected on X wavelength in Y distance."

You can then wander around and triangulate the position of the anomaly.

However, the asp will almost always give a reading saying "background radiation levels detected", which is it's default "nothing is within range", message.

Background radiation is everywhere, all over the universe. Detecting only that means there's no notable signals nearby, move farther afield
