Guest Posted October 8, 2016 Posted October 8, 2016 When you click "Join Response Team", you automatically agree to roleplay the equivalent of a corporate soldier contracted by NanoTrasen to assist the space station that called for help. (This is very layman terms and doesn't accurately define ERT from a lore-POV, but who cares?) This can also be translated to mean "if you maliciously fuck up, you could be ERT/antagonist-banned", specifically because ERT is an antagonist type in the code. In certain RP cases you could also literally be an antagonist, but this guide will cover for when you are called for a standard emergency reason. When you are called, all operational authority is deferred to you in relation to emergency-related issues. Command is expected to answer to any reasonable orders you give out, for you are supposed to have corporate directives, station property and crew integrity's interests, in that order, applying FIRST. Command basically turns over temporary command to you when they call for you, and this should be considered by station command before calling an ERT. This is still important for the sake of good roleplay and everyone else's enjoyment. ERT is not a low responsibility role for you to fuck around with. Your priority should be to clear the situation, neutralize any threats to the station's integrity and ensure the safety of others has been secured as well. When your job is 100% done, you need to leave the station and not stick around unless there is a more obvious threat to the station. To the best of your ability, only do the job you were called for. Once that's done, leave on the ERT shuttle. You do not directly answer to command staff, but you are expected to consider their advisement when they give it. Remember, like you, they should be assumed to know how to do their job unless their own example proves otherwise. You don't have to do everything non-combative for them, if they are well-staffed and qualified for a task you need done, let them do it for you so you can continue on with your mission. I would ask server staff hold ERT to a higher level of scrutiny for fuck-ups in the future when it is reported, as being ERT is no small thing in-game. It's okay if it's your first time being ERT or you're terribly unrobust in combat, but there is no excuse for an ERT abusing their power to terrorize station staff when it isn't part of their original mission, whether you're a newbie or a community regular. Report bad things when you see bad things, or the only person that can be blamed is you being complacent enough in allowing it to happen. If you have questions or want advice, please direct your concerns and reply here. Quote
Garnascus Posted October 9, 2016 Posted October 9, 2016 Off the top of my head i cant recall any specific ahelps about shitty ERT. I used to see them all the time about security until we started cracking down on it. Might be nobody cares to. I figure if we hold security to a certain level its fair to do the same for actual trained soldiers. Quote
