sonicgotnuked Posted December 7, 2016 Posted December 7, 2016 I am going to split this all up in two sections. Currently the cloning and genetics is what I expect from a TG level server, where you can be sp00ky and move shit with your mind or turn into hulk and scream into the comms. GENETICS I feel genetics is that same level as TG. after digging finding the admin panel for genetic modifications on the auroa code, it is decently the same buffs and de-buffs as TG. You still have all the powers for making yourself superman (if anyone now these days ever puts in the genetic lab) But with that new map coming out "soon," we where told that genetics will come back. So we pulled some ideas for this on Discord and some roles and mutations for a geneticist. Roles Finding mutations and researching them. Fixing genetic mix ups from EXTREME radiation. Making sure the cloning will not screw up. (be explained later) and fixing clone fuck ups. Mutations and genes Breathing - the stuff that tells you what you will have to breath to survive, for example, you need to breath nitrogen and you exhale oxygen. (randomness for the gasses that dictate this) Eye sight - dictates if you are blind, color blind (turns screen black and white), etc vocal - makes you talk in comms like this, makes you mute etc species - self explanatory temperature - if you are most comfy at a certain temperature Physical - what you look like for your species and if you are male or female. CLONING Someone fucks up, or murders them and medical gets the body and brain intact. Throw them inside the cloner, watch LOOC while scanning them to bypass the mental interface error, keep it stocked with meat, wait for it to pop them out, fix brain damage and explain what happened because NO ONE cares for RPing a person who has severe clone memory loss. As you can see, it is extremely fleshed out and the mechanics is the exact same for a more low RP high paced server where cloning is backlogged with bodies most the time. Cloning currently just causes brain damage while someone's genetic code stays 100% chrisp and perfect. I think it should not be a 100% perfect gene code all the time, it should have a chance to change a part of someone's DNA, sometimes harmless, other times can cause mutations that should lean more on the negative side. It is the same as putting a copy in a photo copier, if you keep putting the copies of those copies, it will fuck the picture up more and more. It should be the same with cloning people. And it will not be something that will be fixed with a dose of Ryetalyn due to it having no DNA to use to fix the genetic damage. So a geneticist will have to watch over the cloning and cloning becomes more serious.
Guest Complete Garbage Posted December 7, 2016 Posted December 7, 2016 A few things: -Currently, (at least in my experience,) genetics cannot really be properly implemented in-round. Some weird shit happens when you try to use the constructed genetics machines. -The current admin-panel genetics is just a leftover thing in PP that nobody bothered to remove, because it's still useful in niche circumstances. -Most of the mutations outlined make sense, but the 'breathing' one doesn't. You can't really change what gas you can breathe in/out without seriously fucking around with someone's physical structure, as well as their genetic structure. -Current cloning feels fine to me, and it does get backed up sometimes. When you say 'NO ONE cares for RPing a person who has severe clone memory loss,' I'm curious as to how your proposed changes would fix this. -Cloning does genetic damage. This is why fresh clones are placed into cryo. -Right now, SE and UI are separate things-- SE(structural enzyme) blocks contain special mutations and 'powers,' and UI(unique identifier) blocks contain appearance-related genes, i.e. hair/eye color, sex, and species(monkey/human, and the other species combos with narwae and farwae, or whatever the fuck they're called.) Anyway, I'm all for getting rid of the SE blocks and only using UI, and pushing the rest of the mutations into the UI blocks.
