He then lowered the weapon and claimed he was 'just kidding,' and aiming at a piano directly behind her. Several minutes later, Chief Engineer Manfred Hayden was shot and severely injured by Adolph Hammerstein, presumably with the same exosuit-mounted laser, supposedly because Hayden was in the way of a 'horde of space carp.' Chief Engineer Hayden was also reportedly thrown into a window by Warden Hammerstein. Afterward, Hammerstein continued to be out of the brig in the Durand exosuit. Chief Engineer Hayden claims that 'there were no space carp, he made that up, just shot me, it's attempted murder.' The Durand was later lost in space by Hammerstein, according to Captain Outfield. Additional notes: Hayden claimed a doctor told him he had an injured heart, and the crew monitor showed him with twenty-one stationary suffocation damage after the initial thirty-odd burn and ten or so brute damage had been healed.
