canon35 Posted December 11, 2014 Posted December 11, 2014 What it says on the the tin. Reason why is... A: Security going and permabrigging/robbing wizard of all items, usually causing wizards to not be able to do much or possibly having a vendetta against sec to get their items back. B: Murderboning, wizards are able to turn people into apes, slimes, or just outright kill them or breach the station with a single spell, causing an absolute crapton of damage. C: Just the absolute silliness of it all, we're a serious heavy RP server and yet we have people running around in robes, turning crewmembers into xenomorphs. ...And that is my reasons why Wizard should be taken out the Secret Rotation so it can only be voted for directly, if anyone wants a round of (Usual) chucklefuckery.
Farcry11 Posted December 11, 2014 Posted December 11, 2014 And we should replace it with vampire. We never get to play vampire.
Valkrae Posted December 11, 2014 Posted December 11, 2014 If Wizard is done right, It can be slightly hilarious without the chucklefuck. If you want to get rid of rounds that could possible cause chucklefuckery, Then all rounds except extended need to vanish. If done right, Wizard can be fun and interesting. Vampire is the same as this. I don't suggest we move it, I suggest secret round vampries and wizards be selected by admins/staff
Nik Posted December 11, 2014 Posted December 11, 2014 As Nik's reminder of the day, Wizard exists due to leftovers from the original plan of this code, a more Tolkien fantasy based game. This was scrapped due to reasons only Exadv himself would know, but I imagine cause it might have been shit. Saying Wizard can be done right is much like saying ANYTHING can be done right. It's RP. You can RP heavy bondage right, if you had the brains and the...balls. Sadly, this is not what I see of wizard ever. I either see "No guys, it's cool, i'm friendly wizard *steals objective instantly and continues with this lie*" or "I AM BIG DICK THE MAGNIFICANT, EAT HORSE HEAD" or "I've made my dumb wizard name my regular characters name so that I can easily blend it because people know me, and I'll just use jaunt to essentially be a OP Traitor" Sure, we do get the occasional brilliant RP of wizard. But it's like 1/20 wizards. It doesn't help that no one has bothered to ever re-sprite wizards to have a more original look, or that they are essentially just DnD nerds with a magic book, but they aren't exactly ripe with choice. They are ripe with horse heads. Lots of them.
Guest Posted December 11, 2014 Posted December 11, 2014 Can I ask if someone had a really good wizard round where RP was abundant, nobody died unnecessarily, and griff/gank was completely absent on the part of the antag? Details, please.
Valkrae Posted December 11, 2014 Posted December 11, 2014 The round where I played a wizard. I led Security on a wild goose chase, asking them questions whenever they cornered me. I would then teleport away, and repeat the process. Eventually, I was arrested, which I was okay with. Through the sheer force of RPing and persuasion, I was released from custody, saying that I had to contact the Wizard's Federation to prevent them from eradicating the station. The one who caused me to be arrested, Phoebe Essel, was now my target. She was labeled an enemy of the Wizard's Federation. I attempted to kill her, I ended up failing and teleporting away. The Head of Security cornered me, and I transmorgified her into a xenomorph. She then RPed out being a Xenomorph. I ended up leaving on the shuttle, completely intact.
DeffosNotRed Posted December 11, 2014 Posted December 11, 2014 If you want to get rid of rounds that could possible cause chucklefuckery, Then all rounds except extended need to vanish. Amend to say, "All rounds including extended But no really, regardless of our presumed intentions for a game mode, or the game at large, the fact is it's players and players alone that make rounds tolerable, enjoyable or unbearable. Sure, we do get the occasional brilliant RP of wizard. But it's like 1/20 wizards. Quod erat demonstrandum. I think what you really want, essentially, is a few more hard and soft guidelines pushing people in the right direction, since the degree of freedom people currently have is seemingly too much judging by the amount of complaining going on. What is acceptable needs to be thoroughly defined, agreed upon, and then the admins can crash down hard on those that dare deviate from it because "children cannot be trusted unsupervised in the playground", seems to be the logical end to these proposals. Personally, I like the server, but I already find the amount of rules/norms/meta families/alliances/unspoken and unwritten expectations to be borderline totally suffocating when all lumped together and I don't find, "95% of the server can't RP a wizard/nuke op/other antag worth JACK SHIT!" to be a good reason to throw the baby out with the bathwater. This could be solved long term by friendly teaching or not so friendly job banning. I enjoy all of those previously mentioned roles, and I don't think I do a bad job of it that ruins the fun for everyone else, so I don't really want to sacrifice my enjoyment just because some others can't adhere to the very first rule; "-Don't be a dick. We're all here to have fun, not fight and argue with assholes. Don't ruin the game for everyone else, and use common sense." http://aurorastation.org/rules.html
