[Accepted]Firegunnz' tajara whitelist application

Recommended Posts

BYOND Key: FiregunnZ

Character Names: Dolph Kromberg, Boris Kamenev

Species you are applying to play: Tajara

What color do you plan on making your first alien character (Dionaea & IPCs exempt): Some kind of orange due to my character being Njarir'Akhran tajara.

Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: Yes, I read it all fully several times.

Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question

Why do you wish to play this specific race: I wish to improve my roleplay experience by trying to play as someone who is not human and have very different mindset that way. I find tajara lore interesting in the way that they have to deal with something humans have overcame long ago. It might be interesting for roleplay situations when contacting with humans and other tajara too due to whole three different factions of ambigous morality and views on the future of tajara race. Nobody is completely right or wrong here and thus many interesting situations may arise.

Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: First of all tajara have different physiology and cant wear footwear and gloves designed for humans which might be a problem in some situations. Hardsuits need to be modified too to be worn. Its also stated in the lore that tajara have different sleep cycle - they tire faster then humans and need to sleep more often which encourage different mindset for everyday tasks - I see tajara be more likely to conserve energy in most situations and dont waste it for unrequired actions. If tajara have nothing to do currently it may take a nap somewhere or just lay dormant inside comfy chair waiting for job. When pushed to remain active for prolonged period of time tajara may become irritated and become less attentive. They also overheat faster so they are not likely to wear warm clothes on board and remain in hot places for prolonged periods of time.

Tajaran lore also make roleplay different. Unlike humans who more or less united as whole tajara have hard time in their homeworld. Prolonged civil war divided them into different factions which are not likely to find compromise in nearby future. So every contact with other tajara may be very unique. I can find someone of similar views and befriend them or meet someone of the opposite and gain bitter enemy. Or not. After all its a human station and we both may want to do best for our race. Fighting and messing with each other might worsen the opinion of all tajara for everyone else.

Character Name: Lev Zimmerman

Please provide a short backstory for this character, approximately 2 paragraphs Lev was born in a family of minor nobles who always served as police investigators. When the civil war started Lev's family refused to support any side of conflict strongly believing that civil war brings only pointless bloodshed and all tajara race will suffer greatly regardless of who will win. However once its became evident that PRA have gained an upper hand and have been officialy recognised by other races as legitimate government, Lev now mature enough decided to follow his father steps and join PRA law enforcement with him to catch criminals like their ancestors always did. After all it does not matter who is in charge - people are always the same and criminals too. And that was really the time when PRA struggled with dealing with highly increased crime rate and needed everyone able and willing to deal with it. Even if that people are former regime personel. Lev was accepted into people's militia as investigator and was allowed to work "for the good fo Adhomai". He was not accepted nicely by everyone due to his heritage and his beliefs but had no serious problems either until time has come when PRA government decided that they have enough new specialists both educated and politicaly motivated to do the same job and started to purge old specialists from both military and law enforcement positions. Sometimes "with extreme prejudice". Lev decided not to wait until his time will come and left his home to work for Nanotraisen to wait out the purge and possible return home later when danger will pass.

Opinion about factions:

People's republic of Adhomai - neutral acceptive. Lev dont like how government operate as whole and achived power but still recognises it as legitimate. And its better for tajara to support legitimate government and build a new brighter future together instead of fighting each other.

New Kingdom of Adhomai - neutral. Lev dont see them as legitimate power and dont share their idea of returning to monarchy. For Lev its wrong and pointless to try to return to the past and refuse to move forward. Lev however supports the idea of preserving whats left of old culture and eventually find a new peaceful way of uniting tajara together.

Adhomai liveration army - negative. Terrorists would never find Lev support. He also blames them for making tajara life worser by continuing civil war and commiting numerous attrocities while trying to justify by "greater good". Violence and murder can't be justified. Lev however still recognise that some of ALA may be just misguided in their actions and still may be redeemed and return to good. Lev also see some reason in ALA idea of humans actually robbing Adhomai of resources and slowing down tajara progress by straight up selling them complete goods and weapons.

What do you like about this character?

I actually like the idea of somewhat apolitical character who tries to do the best for his race no matter what. I also see Lev as some kind of pacifist who hates violence and who will never willingly harm anyone unless in self-defence or there is just no other way to prevent even more violence. All the civil war on Adhomai is just horrible even for Lev. There is no right or wrong side here because no matter the ideas proclamed people die at war, brother is turned against brother, tajara race is divided and fighting pointless war instead of uniting and building a better themselves while also remaining as part of space society.

How would you rate your role-playing ability?I would describe my roleplay ability as average. Its hard for me to roleplay seriously when people around do not roleplay but I can easily participate in roleplay with people who are willing to do so. Thats why exactly I moved here from Paradise.

Notes: English is not my native language. Please forgive some eventual grammar mistakes I could possibly made.

Hello! This has been sitting for three days so I'm going to comment on it now.

Or rather, I'm going to say that I'm delaying for another three days to give you a chance to gather more feedback. Remember to advertise this in OOC once a round! Or, possibly even in the discord. It's not required to get your whitelist, but feedback is a huge help to all applications. On the Ides of February I'll be back to give feedback.

Hello! I'm back, but a bit late. Now for an in-depth analysis of your application. Firstly, you hit the first two sections out of the park, particularly the section on why playing a Tajara is different. You focused heavily on role-play aspects rather than mechanical aspects, and this is usually a strong indicator of one's interest in the race.

Secondly, backstory. The wording is a bit confusing, as you said English isn't your native language. However, breaking it down for its major plot points, it's the golden example of how a Njarir survives the revolution. Lev's family playing their cards close to their chest and then picking the side that's winning is easily the perfect way to survive. You've also taken it a step further and made current racial tensions and conflicts a strong reason for Lev to go to human space.

Theoretically I should pick on you for picking a very human name, but I won't since I'm guilty of it in all aspects of my lore writing work and my main Tajaran character. The PRA passed a law that told people to use their traditional names some time ago before I was lore overseer, but considering Lev Zimmerman is from a noble family, we can just say it makes sense to use a human name to obfuscate his racial identity.

Getting an application through without any noteworthy feedback is hard, but your application shows a proper blend of genuine interest, understanding of the history and culture of the Tajaran race, and healthy enthusiasm. Application accepted.
