Species you are applying to play: Unathi

What color do you plan on making your first alien character (Dionaea & IPCs exempt): Pale grey-green

Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: Yes

Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question

Why do you wish to play this specific race: I want to play the traditionalist Izweski national that slowly begins to conform to human society, and hates it. This idea of a scouter-painter has been in my mind for a while, and I really want to actually draw Unathi lore-based ancient drawings, with their own stories in the game library.

Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: Unathi recently went through the whole nuclear holocaust, have a loyalty and clan based society (like Imperial Japan), have Guwan that are clanless and criminals, are heavily traditionalist (but it feels like traditionalism is falling apart in Human and Ouerean society), and have Th'akh and Sk'ahk as religions, based on spirits and stuff. Synths are despised. Of course, they're not a hive-mind, so lots of these things can be a bit different.

Character Name: Sk'ash Skung

Please provide a short backstory for this character, approximately 2 paragraphs

Sk'ash didn't care much about the war until it affected him. Living in a lake-side fishing town right outside of where the wasteland is now, he saw everything slowly wither, the women and men die, and the animals die out. The war came to his village, clansmen of the Izweski putting everyone to die for glory. Skung, young and ambitious, would easily go kill for his clan - but never did. As the militia formed from his home village, artillery came down. Everyone, not fully aware - looked for the infantry, only to die from the dishonourable commonwealth - or whoever they were! Sk'ash and his family continued to live in the village, artillery strikes attacking often, destroying the pastures of animals, bombing the lake's fishing tents, destroying any attempts to resist. Sk'ash, taking an energy pistol and riding a threshbeast out, scouted each and every day for where any nearby artillery were, and told the militia to attack. This went on for years, sandstorms beginning to pick up from the far off nukes, herds of escaping animals stampeding down little kids and elders, the village priest becoming sick in the final month of the war. Sk'ash tried his best to cheer everyone up, remembering the way things were and painting the good times on stretched canvas, with beautiful style - and all the colours he could pick from the berries he'd gather while scouting.

This continued on, for years. Living in what used to be a beautiful area - bled dry by nuclear warfare. The town didn't grow any more, everyone began to leave. The lake dried up, and that's when the last of the Skung clan left, following the Town Clan-leader to the untouched lands, and eventually following the same clan-leader to Tau Ceti. Now, Skung, with no qualities to his name besides 'Scouting' and 'Painting', searches for a job while now living in an overpacked house of four different clan families. Maybe aboard this new station Nanotrasen is building? To crew a 70-crew station, they'll need someone like Skung. Someone, diverse, and creative. Lying on his job application a bit, he applies for a 'Maintenance Technician' job role. All he needs to do is screw a few bolts tighter, kick a computer, and get the job.

What do you like about this character? Skung is an artist, and will almost always be out of his zone. Creative and innovative, he'll try and wriggle his way out of any problems and show off some drawings or raps to his friends. Most likely going to hang out with other Unathi, he'll try his best to remember what his life used to be like, and make his creations and stuff from that.

How would you rate your role-playing ability? ask yourself for me

Notes: NAME IS STUPID I WILL CHANGE IT SOME TIME SOON

Basically, he'd avoid EVA operations, avoid building anything, and avoid hard reinforcing walls. He'd mess things up a bit, like when repairing a wall accidentally dislodge the girder and put the cover of the wall on badly, where it can be moved and opened, he could repair windows but only with glass he has - he won't weld any glass, and he'd probably leave the windows dislodged. Basically he can repair things, but if someone were to inspect the things they'd find he doesn't screw in the windows - he leaves gaps in walls, and he can very slowly repair airlocks over time and training while pretending to know what he's doing. Hopefully someone will take his neglect of his job fine, and teach him a bit - but he might just end up being fired and I'll have to put him in a lower civilian role like janitor.

Hello! I apologize for the wait.

For your application, I am not sure administration would appreciate a job in engineering being staffed by someone who lied on their application. NanoTrasen checks for these kinds of things, and your character also has to take various tests. If you can reconcile this - by giving him the barest minimum qualifications to be an apprentice at least - or changing his job, I am heavily leaning towards accepting the application.
