Ezuo Posted July 7, 2017 Posted July 7, 2017 BYOND Key: Ezuo Character Names: https://imgur.com/qLWrnLP Species you are applying to play: Unathi What color do you plan on making your first alien character (Dionaea & IPCs exempt): A kind of muddy green. Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: Indeed I have Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question Why do you wish to play this specific race: Well, after watching and hearing about Unathi ICly, I finally decided to skim over the lore page. Their history, social structure and the inherent death of traditionalism through the march of technological advancement really intrigues me. Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: There are a lot of inherent differences when playing an Unathi. The biggest difference is of course the social element, stretching out across the social and societal structure, behaviors, and strands of morals and ethics in relation to actions. Character Name: Du'Raka Kuzek Please provide a short backstory for this character, approximately 2 paragraphs Du'Raka was born in 2436, to the Kuzek clan, his original birthplace lost in sands of the wastes. He was only 3 when the bombs fell, too young to remember anything but a world engulfed in flames and war. From the scraps of their former lives his clan, binding themselves to the Traditionalist Coalition, taught him of the way things used to be before the Great Endeavor. From a young age he was taught how to hunt and fight, becoming quickly proficient in melee combat. For years he sparred with the other children, using crude wooden imitations of the spears that their elders used. The lessons learned while sparring, however, were not crude in the slightest; The calm between every mock duel filled with lessons of honor and integrity. To these lessons he listened with respect, every word etched into the tattered books they used to learn reading and writing to carry on oral traditions. This methodology was instilled in him until the dwindling days of the war, when Izweski infantry annexed what little land his clan had managed to hold onto during the conflict. He was 13 when the Coalition was finally crushed under the superior forces of the Izweski, causing many of the few warriors left in the clan Kuzek to brand themselves as Guwandi. Du'Raka understood why they left, knowing many would rather die honorably under the tattered flag of tradition than live in a world too focused on the future to remember the past. His next four years were spent years was spent trying to adapt to life under the Izweski, ending up in S'th to try and escape the ever encroaching wasteland. Luckily the shattered remnants of the Kuzek still had some semblance of a clan leader, even if the land they once presided over was lost to radioactive fallout. Having not known any trade other than combat and honor, Du'Raka strived to join the guard that patrolled the streets of S'th. Soon his days were spent walking the streets of his new home, the steel he wore branded with the mark of the local lord. His life continued like this for a time, around 3 years, before the strain on his pockets became too much. He soon joined the ranks of those that were drawn off world by the offer of employment contracts, and guaranteed pay. Today he patrols the metallic hallways of Nanotrasen owned stations, every month sending back a portion of his pay to the remnants of the Kuzek in an effort to help support their lives. What do you like about this character? I've strived to make Du'Raka an Unathi that is majorly concerned with things like the Warrior's Tenants, and a deep respect for tradition. Playing an Unathi character that doesn't acknowledge the social structure at all is like playing a Tajaran that uses first person. Whats the point of the character if they're just a human in a fursuit? Basically, still having a close connection with the home world and a respect for tradition will make this a really interesting character to be, for me at least. How would you rate your role-playing ability? I'd rate myself at a solid 75% Notes: Shame wrote all my notes, so you should go ask them ;P
DatBerry Posted July 7, 2017 Posted July 7, 2017 Everytime I open your app wanting to leave some feedback i end up forgetting. My first impression of ezuo's first character was an overwatch clone (which turned out to be a coincidence) and I didn't think of them very highly at first, though that was just a first impression. Steph Deflores is one of the most professional acting captains around lately, they may or may not be competent, but their roleplay as far as I've seen was A okay. into the story, it's ok but there's a bit of missing details, if he was a traditionalist, how did he feel about leaving his world and working with the same aliens who brought his homeworld to it's current state, a hegemony unathi may not be bothered much, but an ex traditionalist would feel extremely uncomfortable at least, how did the transition make him feel? +1 but I still want your answer.
Ezuo Posted July 8, 2017 Author Posted July 8, 2017 into the story, it's ok but there's a bit of missing details, if he was a traditionalist, how did he feel about leaving his world and working with the same aliens who brought his homeworld to it's current state, a hegemony unathi may not be bothered much, but an ex traditionalist would feel extremely uncomfortable at least, how did the transition make him feel? He does not like it a single bit. Knowing he works for the people that were probably the ones that supplied the first bombs is almost sickening, but he has a duty that surpasses that. His work isn't just about him, it is about helping to support the remnants of his clan. He may be sharing the halls with disgraceful beings, but he keeps his peace knowing that he is true to his teachings, and to the code he holds so close to heart.
SleepyWolf Posted July 8, 2017 Posted July 8, 2017 Ezuo is good, and this is good, give me an honorable Unathi that I can respect >:^)
