Overdose and You! (OD change suggestion thread)

In the medical world, overdosing is a common medical mistake made by both patients and doctors. Various medications have an extremely wide range of OD symptoms, from an upset stomach to confusion/behavioral changes to organ damage, or even death. It all depends on the medication and how much is in someone!

So my ideas for making potential changes to Aurora's medicine system would be as follows:

1: Change the OD symptoms of the various medications to be things that are a little more fun or realistic, rather than just toxins. An example might be screen-shaking effects, or particular damage to an organ.

2: Give the OD damage a tiered system: Minor, Acute, Major. (or whatever else you would want to name it). 1 unit over the OD limit wouldn't cause horrible complications for the most part. Some medicines might have these tiers be a lot closer than others (for example, Peridaxon's OD numbers might be much smaller and closer together than, say, Tricord's.)

Some examples of ideas might be as follows:

Tricordrazine: On the wiki, this medication is stated as "originally derived from Cordrazine" which is a miracle Star Trek medicine that could stabilize patients (Tricord is also apparently a Star Trek thing). If you look it up, you find that one of the characters, McCoy, overdoses on it and has insane panic thinking killers and assassins are after him.

Perhaps the OD could be severe anxiety or paranoia, into hallucinations, or something of the like.

Spaceacillin: Penicillin + Antibiotics. If you look up Penicillin, "Overdose symptoms may include confusion, behavior changes, a severe skin rash, urinating less than usual, or seizure (black-out or convulsions)." Antibitotics are usually just a bad stomach ache, but with some, you could be looking at seizures and severe pain if way too much is taken for way too long.

Perhaps the OD could be confusion, severe pain, or go all the way up to convulsions or black-outs.

Bicaridine: Since it heals trauma (fixes bruises, bleeding, etc), I would think this could cause issues with the heart. Perhaps at OD, clots could be a problem, so maybe damage to the heart could happen, or even pair it with suffocation damage because the heart isn't working properly because of blockages.

Perhaps the OD could be heart damage, suffocation damage, or even go up to cardiac arrest at major OD.

Anyway, those are just some of my ideas.

I feel that more interesting OD symptoms can easily be found by just being creative with the ways the medicines work. After all, too much of a good thing can hurt! The ODs don't have to be needlessly punishing, but having actual individual effects can make things more interesting!

I can add more ideas later for other medicines as I definitely have a few, but right now I should be studying for a test.

Tell me what you guys think and make suggestions yourself! Thank you!

I was informed of this, yes. I don't really know how it works currently, as I haven't had a chance to play, but some people were complaining about it. Alb said if people made better suggestions, it might change, so I had some ideas, and here we are!
