[Denied] Ryuzaki's Whitelist app (Chief Engineer)

Byond Key: Ryuzaki4Days

Character names: Frankie Benford

How long have you been playing on Aurora?: Joined way more recently than I should have (Few days) but I've been playing SS13 on and off for about 3 years.

Why do you wish to be on the whitelist?: Despite only being here a short time, I've actually pulled my weight with quite a significant role for around 90% of my shifts (Atmospheric technician), most of said shifts have also had me directing others on where to go and what needed fixing, which in a sense is vastly similar to what a Chief engineer does anyway. Despite one incident with the engine, which isn't an Atmos' jurisdiction anyway, I've managed to keep things under control with most of my shifts. As much as I love AT, I feel I'd handle the extra responsibility a lot better.

Why did you come to Aurora?: I've always been a Roleplayer, and despite being absent from SS13 for some time now, I decided to return for the heavy roleplay of Aurora specifically at the request of a friend.

Have you read the Aurora wiki on the head roles and qualifications you plan on playing?: Yup, several times.

Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph each.

Give a definition of what you think roleplay is, and should be about: Roleplaying is about being the character, separating yourself from your real world, and real troubles for a few hours and really getting into something you can enjoy, being someone else for a little while and allowing yourself to experience what other lives might be like, be it in a fictitious scenario or otherwise. It is a means of creative expression, much like that of writing, or music. However I always feel roleplaying has a more personal touch than the work of a novel, you really develop a bond with your own and other people's characters.

What do you think the OOC purpose of a Head of Staff is, ingame?: Head of staff are there to help those newer than themselves to the game, to help those in their department keep a round going smooth and fun for everyone else and to help themselves become even better at what they do. The HS are there for the benefit of everyone alive on the station, expected to do the jobs of everyone in their department at a moment's notice and are often first in the firing line when things go wrong. It is their job to make sure that things don't end up tragically on fire, that a super virus doesn't wipe everyone out and that security doesn't decide to play flashbang tennis.

What do you think the OOC responsibilities of Whitelisted players are to other players, and how would you strive to uphold them?: Whitelisted players are there to help improve the roleplay of each round, as well as make the big decisions regarding the station. This, as I have seen in the past can make or break a round. The whitelist is there to make sure those of us who know what we're doing can step up into the jobs we're capable of doing and make sure everyone has a fun, hassle free and enjoyable roleplay experience. This even includes the antagonists, despite how much people want to witch-hunt them sometimes. After all, they are roleplayers too.

Please pick one of your characters for this section, and provide well articulated responses to the following questions.

Character name: Frankie Benford

Character age: 27

Please provide a short biography of this character (approx 2 paragraphs):

Frankie was born and raised in one of the lower class areas of Olympia, Sol. Despite his less than favorable upbringing, by time he hit sixteen, the young Frankie had applied for a community college and set his sights on joining NanoTrasen, with hopes of becoming an atmospherics monitoring specialist (Or AMS for short.) By the age of Twenty one, Frankie left college with his degree, following in his father, Miles' footsteps as an AMS. He proceeded to work in the lower levels of the mega-city he was raised for three years, getting to grips with life as an adult and honing his skills as an Atmospheric technician, mostly aiding with minor terraformer repairs and sewer lines. During his time however, he started making quite the reputation (And a negative one) in local bars for being a bit of a hot-head, causing barfights more often than not.

After a while, Frankie was contracted to work on Luna, leaving his home behind for several months of actual off-planet training. He was most commonly tasked with monitoring the flow-lines and reporting damages, as well as helping maintain the airlocks on any incoming and outgoing vessels. Eventually, the time for him to move onto Nano came, and he applied for his first contract with them, heading for Tau Ceti. He circled a couple of stations and ships, aiding them here and there with minor repairs and atmospheric maintenance before realizing just how often he had to actually lead the shifts he was running. This was his dream now, leading the engineers aboard a ship to make sure everyone aboard saved lives, despite how much they annoy him.

What do you like about this character?: His ironic sense of humor, no matter how bad a situation is, he'll always find a joke. Especially when coupled with a partner such as Yahim Jones. That coupled with his arrogance and his whole 'I am god's gift to atmospherics' attitude makes him a lovable dork.

What do you dislike about this character?: His anger, honestly. His foul mouthed rants before he gets his morning coffee drive me insane just typing them. It's one thing I want to tone back, but I know they're a part of him now, and it might damage him as a character if that was cut. Gotta live with my choice of making him a bit of an ass.

What do you think makes this character fit to be a head of staff?: Despite his attitude, Frankie is very focused on his work. Even when he has nothing to do he'll always check in, or have his pAI relay out to his staff. He has also ran a couple of commandless shifts, and has plenty experience on the job. Cool in a crisis and easy to follow orders from, especially when he's pumped up on coffee.

Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions.

How would you rate your own roleplaying?: I'd say a 6-7/10, although honestly I know it varies depending on how exhausted I am, and what the environment is.

Extra notes:

Despite being here for a mere few days, I'd like to think I've slotted into the community pretty neatly (Or at least the IC community) and had some real great rounds, I'm warning free, learned the rules and such quick as lightning and I think made a few pals along the way. Of course, I'm always updating Frankie, keeping him fresh for everyone and myself, but Engie is his department, and it's what I'm good at now.

Application Denied.

The following are the issues.

1- You've made this application two days from your first arrival on this server and haven't been seen since the 29th of last month. This is an issue since command staff here need to have a proper feeling of the environment, role and responsibility which I don't feel a week of a play time is be sufficient.

2- Your character in the application wasn't amended for that. The character you're applying with needs to meed the requirements.

3- Lack of feedback, while feedback isn't the primary focal point of an application, they're important and helpful, especially when other points are lacking. Do note you can advertise your application once a round on OOC chat or the discord as long as it's not excessive.

Your application is overall good, I advise you to work on the previous points. Feel free to contact me over the forums or discord for a more in-depth discussion.
