sebkillerDK
BYOND Key: SebkillerDK Character Names: Jack Walker (CMO). Colton Stern (Captain). Samiya Radka (HoS). Kaizen (AI). Species you are applying to play: IPC What color do you plan on making your first alien character (Dionaea & IPCs exempt): Exempt. Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: Yes i have. Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question Why do you wish to play this specific race: I wish to play IPC's because of their synthethic way of being, the thought of a humanoid robot with the ability to emulate human emotions and thought is a subject i find quite interesting, and wish to explore more. Furthermore, the constant discussions regarding their freedom and rights, weather they should be allowed or not, is an interesting aspect to their existence, with meany people having different veiws on them, often leading to very mixed results when interacting with other species. I also find their mechanics to be an interesting twist, being unable to self repair, and not having to rely on food and water to sustain themselves, and needing others help to recover if damaged. Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: Firstly, theres mechanics, as stated above, they do not need food or water, and do not tire from hard work as other organic species do, making them able to work for extended periods of time, as long as they have power. Secondly, their limited emotions and ability to socialise of feel empathy. The fact that most IPC's will appear cold or standardized in their reactions or actions when dealing with emotions might shun other, more emotionally complex races, such as humans. Thirdly, the fact that most of them are owned by other people or corporations, and do not have a free will, they are required to wear tags, identifying them, and are even banned in alot of systems, Jargon being one example. Being machines that are buildt by others, they do not have a home system, and tend to come from all over, leading to different machines often having very different backgrounds and history affiliated with them, often leading to different personalities aswell. Character Name: C-58 Charlie Please provide a short backstory for this character, approximately 2 paragraphs C-58 Charlie, was constructed by the company heavy load industries, as part of their security series in the year of 2458. Originally, he was supposed to be working for the company itself, but ended up being contracted away to nanotrasen, as a security offcer onboard their facilities. Personality wise, C-58 Charlie is programmed to be a polite and obedient machine, however, over the two years of his existence onboard Nanotrasen facilities, he has learned to form friendhips with other crew, and expanded his ability to interact with other people around him, with moderate succes. He tends to be polite overall and welcoming, in an effort to get to know the people who are working around him. Afther around 2 years, the original contract for C-58 Charlie expired, and he was returned to his creator company. However, it did not take a long time for Nanotrasen to re-contract him, onboard their research facility, the NSS Aurora, as by now he was allready well aquainted with the procediures and protocol onboard Nanotrasen stations. And with his purpose designed programming made with security work in mind, he was a logical investment to keep around. Charlies ability to emulate and understand emotions have been enhanced as part of his specialised programming for security work, allowing him to somewhat efficiently read the situation around him, and act accordingly. He also has a decently advanced ability to comprehend complex thoughts suchs as motives and reasoning behind actions, Helping him determine if someone is guilty. What do you like about this character? I like their simplicity, regardng that they where designed with a specific purpose in mind, and their moderate ability to comprehend emotions and complex thoughts. How would you rate your role-playing ability? About 7-8 out of 10. Notes: Apologies for any and all grammatical errors, as English is not my first language. tbear13
I'll give this a +1. Great experiences ingame with this person. The backstory is kinda short, but the application looks good overall. Link to comment
NoahKirchner
I've enjoyed RPing with Colton a lot, but you seem to be missing a sentence (or at least some crucial words) in the first bit of your story (Looks like a backspacing mishap). The story's also a bit short, I was wondering if you could shed any light on the character themselves; their general attitude and any laws that they may have, or any quirks that make them unique from their IPC brethren. sebkillerDK
Right, i re-wrote the backstory, changing a few things, and adding alot more about their personality and abilities, and made it a bit longer. Link to comment
NoahKirchner
I'm glad that you revised the backstory and I know already from Colton that you can maintain a more than acceptable RP standard. +1 Link to comment
