  1. +1 Its been great to see Chunley evolve as a character, becoming more and more complex over time as their backstory is created/modified. I have had numerous good interactions with them as a character and as a player. I would say a biiiiig +1 to this. Just to give a few details she always hung out with Andie, she is usually a courteous officer and oocly is a great person.
  2. +1 from me here, in all reality you should be given this as a given for security as you are expected to discharge flashbangs and firearms in an enclosed environment, not having proper hearing protection would really cost you in the long run. This is coming from someone who doesn't even consider playing sec, but they really should get this.
  3. +1 And one massive YHAAAAAS to this app. Yonnimer is an amazing guy oocly and I always have great IC interations with him. I remember Russo was one of the few bartenders who knew sign language so him and Andie exchanged few words.... cause yeah, sign language, ya don't talk aloud with it. :3 Starlight is also an amazing character, always calm and collected, very quick to respond to slime outbreaks (They gotta be fast to respond cause it takes them a solid minute to walk there) And I love love love this concept for the character. To put it into context, me and Yonnimer would talk in LOOC when it is a slow round about random things but one thing that happened repeatedly is that Yonnimer would post russian hard bass or other russian songs to me and I would post Swing/Electroswing in response. TL:DR, I love yonnimer, great guy ICly and OOCly, I would love to see this character around. (In plus it provides a contrast to Swingbot [if Roscoe gets accepted at least] and I would love to RP it out and see how it goes.)
  4. BYOND Key: McKinney Character Names: Andie Metzger, Carl Anderson, Fibo, Mr. Flibble Species you are applying to play: (Shell) IPC What color do you plan on making your first alien character (Dionaea & IPCs exempt): Exempt Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: Yep! Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question Why do you wish to play this specific race: Well, the position of the IPC on station is quite peculiar and it can lead to some great RP both antagonistically (Though, not usually my cup o' tea) and canonically. It can make it easy to choose gimmicks for traitoring, like an IPC wanting to be free and trying to inspire others to be free on a rev round. Or just by pure virtue of having your character conscious of the fact that they are, in fact owned by either NT or owned privately by someone or some firm. Even if they bought their own independence however, they would also have that be a part of them, they would know through their hard work they managed to become free. There is just a different kind of dynamic to IPCs as compared to lets say, Humans. Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: Well, playing a human is really easy, we are human after all (I hope I am not found out for being an alium). In all seriousness however, a shell IPC is supposed to be as 'human' as they can be, hence the synthskin and and the human appearances. But they will still be plagued by their own little quirks that humans are not. For example, a more industrial or baseline IPC I would still use 'this unit...' as opposed to 'I....', all of that depending on the IPC of course but the point is at the time they could not be so 'human'. Character Name: Roscoe Please provide a short backstory for this character, approximately 2 paragraphs Roscoe was created by a group of robotics students from Solis Cognito University with one original goal in mind: try to make an IPC band more popular and better than the famous 'ClockWorks' this goal served two purposes; one would be to prove Solis Cognito has the most gifted roboticists who are capable of a great deal more than others. Two, if successful, was to spread some pro-ATLAS sentiments most of the robotics team had held. This project led to Roscoe, whose working name was 'Swing bot' (Posibrain designation SWB-001) and [The Project] was discontinued after his failure to produce positive results. The students were fixated and intended on making Swing bot resemble, as closely as possible, a 1930/40's (swing era) american, hence his working name for the project. As such, Swing bot's personality was carefully crafted to fit this narrative, with the students all agreeing this would yield a quirky and musically enamored personality, both being what they desired for his purposes. This lead to him using antiquated slang from the era along with holding some antiquated ideas from the era, such as, believing the prohibition is still in effect. The students, at this point, with the help of some robotics alumni from Solis Cognito began making what was now Roscoe act and behave as closely as possible to a human. This had varying degrees of success as they had given him special emotion emulators which the alumnus tailored to fit alongside his personality, creating a few extra quirks and limiting his ability to express some complex emotions. To be paired with his era appropriate personality and emotions, they created a shell frame that possessed typical male looks of the time, some of which are uncommon now. Roscoe's first test was to try to play the instrument which he felt would be easiest for him to play, he chose the trumpet. This, of course, did not work our as he was unable to play it properly due to his lack of sufficient lung capacity, this being the first failure in the project. Despite their best intentions and their best attempts, Roscoe did not have a passion for playing music, he simply had a passion for listening to music and dancing to music. The chief mistake in this case was made when a student exposed him to the music from the era he was modeled after, the idea being he would embrace this music and strive to make more like. This backfired as he was more focused on listening to it and dancing to it than he was actually playing it. As the students began worrying more and more about the projects failure, they decided to cut their losses and sold Roscoe to a Merchant that had come on station. Roscoe, under the ownership of this merchant, was shown how to bartend, cook and even picked up a thing or two about inventory management from the merchant. At this point, Roscoe has traded hands between a few different merchants and is now aboard another ship on his way to a research station known as the 'NSS Aurora'. What do you like about this character? So, I, personally love US history from the 1910's-1960's there is just so much that happened in that time period, and its not just about the wars (like so many of my class mates loved) but I also loved how the US changed during these time periods. I love the feel and (Much as I have grown to dislike the word due to my friend's constant use of it) aesthetic of him. I also like the idea that since he was made at Solis Cognito he would not have met very many non humans. Actually, remarkably few so it would be interesting for him to meet the various races aboard the Aurora. How would you rate your role-playing ability? I wouldn't rate it on a scale as last time I felt silly doing so; As such, I will just say I feel as if I am rather good at roleplaying, I have had many characters over many genres and many different universes but there is always more to learn about role playing. Notes: Now, you may have noticed I left the backstory off at a weird part there at the end of 'heading to the Aurora aboard a merchant vessel'. If the Whitelist is accepted I seek to have Roscoe sold by a merchant one shift to generate more RP. I do have backup plans if that is not okay of course, but it is just kind of wishful thinking.
  5. BYOND Key: McKinney Game ID: bRZ-akxA Player Byond Key: Jackboot Staff involved: Nursie Kitty, Alberyk Reason for complaint: Antaging (and acting) in a way that does not add to the RP of the round Did you attempt to adminhelp the issue at the time? If so, what was the known action taken by administration/moderation? Yes. We were told it was handled, as a result, they rp’ed more, only between themselves and the victims however, as such never added to the RP in the round, Approximate Date/Time: December 17th, 2017, from 5pm-7pm Pst. Now, that is the complaint. I will string together my side of the story, as an observer to the round I witnessed. At approximately 5:26pm, 20 mins into the round, I decided to observe as I had coding to do for schooling. Now what then happened is I witnessed, 20 mins after observing, the murder of Yuri Daruski (BV1000) The way in which I believe this happened was he was brought into the cockpit of the merchant shuttle by Azujuna Arahi(Jackboot) Which he was then told that Arahi needed money, after which was immediately killed. His body was then taken to the merchant station and left in the warehouse. Then, about 10ish minutes later, Jesse Pavlov (T1GWS) was killed in a similar fashion, with the shuttle jumping to merchant station with him aboard, where the same path of logic was followed. ‘I need money’ Then he grabbed Pavlov and slit his throat in less than 5 seconds. The issue I saw here, a glaring issue [to me] here, is that he attacked during a time the player could be typing to him as they were just asked a question, but I digress. After those two deaths, he had cleaned up, making sure there was as little evidence as possible on station and on his shuttle. To his credit, he did rp with his next three victims after being talked to by admin staff. However, that RP, I would argue added nothing to the RP of the round (The supposed reason for antags in the first place) What did happen was after five deaths, a total of four people were then involved (Excluding the dead) These people were Faysal, a Vaurca Miner, Mandy Blackwell, and Azunjuna Arahi [The murderer himself]. Now, my argument is, the want to go straight to murder is a bad move for Heavy Role Play, actually just for the antag rules, the biggest being to add RP. The removal of five characters with Roleplay limited to the antag and the five people one on one at a time, Results in more RP taken than given at the same time. Not to mention taking people out of the round rather early on. (To which Jackboot simply deflected all dissenting opinions by saying in dead chat “they could have just respawned” which is both telling people how to play and disregarding any and all criticism about his antaging.)
  6. +1 I have recommended several times that he be a RD and I can get behind this app. I have had amazing IC and OOC interactions with Yonnimer. Russo Trosk was one of the few Bartenders who knew sign and Andie frequented the bar often with him around. Starlight is always friendly but very professional and I have run (or tried to) many experiments with him as Carl Anderson with varied degrees of success. Whenever there is a need for a Director I usually recommend starlight take the interim position because he is an amazing, diligent scientist but the way he holds himself almost commands respect.
  7. BYOND key: McKinney Character names: Andie Metzger, Carl Anderson, Mr. Flibble, Fibo How long have you been playing on Aurora?: Since I came back, about a month/month and a halfish, played nearly every day. Why do you wish to be on the whitelist?: So I can take the research director position that is usually vacant when I play Carl. I recently showed a new player the ins and outs of robotics and it was rather fun. I would like to help players who are new to science and I want Carl Anderson to take the next step in his career. Why did you come to Aurora?: I played on here a loooong time ago back when it was still the exodus. Before that, I played on Hypatia and I absolutely love the roleplay I have had on both stations. Have you read the Aurora wiki on the head roles and qualifications you plan on playing?: I have, it would be rather silly If I didn’t right? Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph each. Give a definition of what you think roleplay is, and should be about: Roleplay, in my own words, is when you create a character for a world and ‘become’ that character. Now, my definition isn’t a large one so I will elaborate. You create a character to fit in with the lore and setting of the world, give them quirks, a personality, and then play as them, acting how they act and taking actions they would. It should be about staying in character and experiencing a new, unique and different world or, meeting new people. It could also be just continuing to exist in that world you’ve established them in. What do you think the OOC purpose of a Head of Staff is, ingame?: In my eyes, the head of staff’s purpose changes from department to department. But generally overall, they serve as a sort of guide to the newer players or someone they can go to in order to be given a mentor. They also exist to provide order and ensure that the roleplay is kept going and is rather structured. In essence, they provide structure. What do you think the OOC responsibilities of Whitelisted players are to other players, and how would you strive to uphold them?: The responsibilities of the whitelisted player is to ensure that newer players are shown the ropes and get good roleplay from being shown the ropes. They are also expected to uphold a somewhat higher standard than a regular player as your position comes with an elevated responsibility. I strive to be welcoming to new players and help them through learning the process of SCIENCE, or you know, robotics too. Thats a cool place. But in all seriousness, I loved learning this game but it was difficult to do so by just guides and when you have someone to ICly help you learn it, really, REALLY helps and I strive to do the same. Please pick one of your characters for this section, and provide well articulated responses to the following questions. Character name: Carl Anderson Character age: 42 Please provide a short biography of this character (approx 2 paragraphs): Carl Anderson was born to a rather well off family, his father owning a successful bioengineering firm specializing in the maintenance and installation of mechanical prosthetics. He had an easy life for the most part, but in exchange for the ease of it he was expected to have a good education. His education was paid for by his family though, starting off in a private school then managing to, through hard work, make it to Solis Cognito University. He began his degree in Synthetic Intelligence Theory, wanting to create something that was greater than himself and progress scientific progress. Throughout his time in Solis Coginito University, he had learned to hate the ATLAS supporters who seemed nearly ubiquitous on campus. Where they thought the other species were lesser, Carl instead chose to view them as rivals, wanting to see who was more intelligent or advanced instead of blindly assuming they were. He had planned to, once his degree was finished, to head back and work with his father, expanding their business but, towards the end of his first stint at Solis Cognito, he was swamped with job offers much greater than his family could provide. With a somewhat hesitant stance, he warily accepted the juiciest job offer, at Nanotrasen. The beginning of his career in Nanotrasen was spent working on improving and helping test and research station bound units such as cyborgs and AI. Finding it hard to simply instruct others to do what he was thinking, as he technically lacked qualifications to maintain or fix the units, he immediately began his next degree, this one in Robotics. Throughout his time in making the AI as efficient and compact as possible and his thesis on these aspects, he earned his First PHD, this one in Synthetic Intelligence Theory. Once his robotics degree was finished, he bounced between stations as a roboticist for a while, furthering his studies, these in Information Technologies when he was interested in the personal AI’s that had sprung up and wished to know how they worked and how well they worked. And now, he finds himself aboard the NSS Aurora as a scientist or roboticist, still furthering his studies, a singular, explicit goal in his mind, Progress. What do you like about this character?: I like this character as he dedicated to furthering scientific knowledge and theory. I also love him because every single shift I come on with him I have a specific experiment to attempt in order to give myself and the other scientists something to do instead of the usual RnD grind and waiting for materials. He is focused and dedicated to his colleagues as well. What do you dislike about this character?: He is cold and harsh to those he does not know, his personality is much different from my own which is admittedly good and bad. Despite him wanting to view people from other species as Rivals, he tends to view Unathi as annoying, stupid barriers to progress. I don’t like the idea of outright hating people like that but it is interesting for Carl. What do you think makes this character fit to be a head of staff?: Carl is a tough, experienced character, he is admittedly a very old character of mine from all the way back when I played on Hypatia, he was a research director there where he made sure that the scientists were on task, the roboticists were fulfilling orders and that no one was making bombs for no reason. Carl is extremely loyal to his department, making sure to put the needs of science above his own and wanting to make sure his colleagues are happy, supplied and are able to do what they wish to. Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions. How would you rate your own roleplaying?: Well, I have done far too much roleplaying than I ever should, between DND, Dark heresy, roleplays on different games, Pathfinder, some homebrews. I have dozens of characters and I feel as if I am good at staying in character and a competent roleplayer. But I still do have much to learn as every group has its own different little ways of roleplaying. TL:DR, 7/10 Extra notes: I would love to be able to bring more of science into my experiments, as a regular scientist usually I can only get one or maybe two in on it. I appreciate any criticism so long as it is constructive. I will also answer any questions if this is not clear enough.
  8. +1 from me, Amazing OOC person, and her Characters are always just amazing. I have had amazing rp with her characters, Lorin Cross, Freya Chunley and KIRBY.
  9. +1 From me, the guy is an awesome dude OOC and IC Tsemir always tries to get the interim CE position when there is no CE, so that shows he is willing as a character to take the extra strain and hardship of a command position. I hope ya get it man, we need more kitter command. :3
