Editted it to open up talk about rat people as a whole for antag and not limited to Skaven, I didn't mean rip 40K lore, sorry for that misunderstanding. But yeah, the breeding idea is something that sounds reasonable (especially if its already coded in some way), I'm not a coder but I can whip up some concepts for how they would affect a round.
-
Hey so I was memeing as a rat one round recently about Skaven overlords and a lot of people popped up showing interest in rat people so meme or not I'm wondering if a rat people antag could be added in that is related to the already existing rat ghost spawn, I mean, Skaven in 40K are pretty fun right? It could add a whole new meaning to 'rats have been breeding in supplies storage, handle this before it affects productivity' announcements if rat build-up could result in rat people appearing. Thoughts?

BYOND Key: Kihatomay Character Names: James Praxton, Aleks Martin, LHT-001 Species you are applying to play: Skrell What color do you plan on making your first alien character: Very dark blue Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: Yes Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question. Why do you wish to play this specific race: The Skrell are incredibly interesting to me and I've had a lot of really cool interactions with Skrell players. But my spurring moment to make this application was the most recent Jargon Federation event that was hosted by the staff team. It made me take another look at the lore pages and pushed me to making the decision to make this post. So here it is, I look forward to the feedback I get and I'll put my best effort in. Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: Skrell are a far more advanced and space-faring society that has transcended a lot of the concepts that Humanity still employs in their culture and society. They don't have the same concepts of gender stereotypes, warfare, and adulthood. Playing this species will require a lot of distancing from the interactions my character has so I can apply that objective Skrellian logic. Character Name: Qigon Cuor-Nindo Please provide a short backstory for this character: Born 2226, Qigon Cuor showed a lot of signs for extreme aptitude in espionage, martial combat, and quick thinking. Where others in his generation showed talent for science, engineering, or medical careers, Qigon instead excelled exceptionally at reactionary and physical courses/exams. And while he did score in the top percentile among the norm, once he managed to get accepted into Gliutip’lyaz University at the age of 74, he found himself being outclassed by the mental elite. But this did not result in a negative outlook on his success, instead, his reputation was carried by the extremely high scores he obtained in martial arts, communications, physics and critical thinking. Focusing on these strengths as his peers and instructors encouraged him to do, he was able to obtain his honorable degrees and graduate with decorations regarding his preferred fields at the age of 97. It was unorthodox, and some regarded it as a stain on the University, however his swift acceptance into the SSSF as an elite ground and naval unit proved this to be nothing more than a rumor. Honorably serving in his squad for roughly 82 years before he was transferred into a smaller espionage and acute enemy forces disablement unit that he served in for 57 years, this is where he adopted his suffix, his name changing to Qigon Cuor-Nindo before retiring from the intense and undeniably stressful lifestyle of his position with several honorable accolades at the seasoned age of 236. Following his retirement, having spent so much of his life in a security and soldiering environment, he decided he would live more comfortably by working as a security officer via a private contractor for NT and other reputable megacorps. Putting himself into a much calmer but still familiar lifestyle that he could comfortably live out his life in while not relying on retirement to enjoy the better things in life. What do you like about this character? Admittedly, I got the idea of this character's backstory from my father, who served in the marine corps for twenty years before retiring and then acting as a supervisor for a security company to raise me with my mother. He always had a respectable air about him, and held a heavy dislike for violence despite his career. I see Qigon in a similar manner and I would love to roleplay a character with so much life experience to offer and work off of. How would you rate your role-playing ability? I consider myself an experienced roleplayer, as I have been roleplaying in various platforms for over a decade. Notes: I have two other applications for whitelist up, as I am aiming to broaden my playing style and my character selection. I was told it was allowed to apply for several things at once, so I have decided to push the envelope.

[Accepted] Kiha's Unathi Application
Kiha replied to Kiha's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
Yeah for sure, I'm not going to smash someone's face in for misbehaving or saying bad things to me. That's dishonorable, specially if they're unarmed. And definitely against the rules. -
Hey, came across this while surfing the forums late-night. I want to clear a few things up because I don't want you to feel personally attacked. Initially, I blatantly used the protolathe in front of you to give you something to roleplay about, but your initial reaction was to scream 'INTRUDER IN SCIENCE' or something along those lines, which led to a hefty chase scene that resulted in me and the other ninja becoming an 'open fire on sight' target for the security team. So given the prior interaction and the way you caused me difficulty in the round I did kill you and I was chastised for the nature of my killing and will be making an extra effort from now on to roleplay more (even if some people still do attack a lot of antags on sight and this will be getting me killed a lot) before engaging or acting hostile. I'm sorry I killed you that way, I am. Second, you weren't the only person I killed. I did a lot of fighting with others who witnessed me and killed most of them (about half were ERT the others security or vigilante crew). And the admin DID talk to me about our interaction but said nothing to me about a "last chance" or anything of that nature, I was reminded that I need to make an effort to establish progression and escalation extensively as nobody else is going to understand my actions unless I properly relay my intentions/feelings before acting upon them, especially in a drastic manner. With the ninja round stuff out of the way, I want to stress that I have NO OOC grudge against you, and that joke in OOC was not referring to you either, there was a round prior that a lab assistant fabricated a weapon and ramboed with it. It wasn't you, unless you were playing that human assistant. I actually enjoy the interactions we've had OOCly even if James himself doesn't, after all, as you have said your character has been callous towards mine on a number of occasions. In short, I've made adjustments (and will continue to make adjustments), and I'm very sorry you even felt the need to make this thread. The last thing I want is to make other people feel targeted or disliked. We're here to have fun.

[Accepted] Kiha's Unathi Application
Kiha replied to Kiha's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
Hello! I'm happy to answer your questions. I last read Unathi lore yesterday, and I'm not able to recall stuff about their history willy nilly but I am familiar now with their behavior and culture structure. Unathi tradition is really appealing because it's just a call-back to feudal human tradition when you look at the meat of the concepts, and that appeals to me OOCly. I enjoy the hide armors, the bluntness, etc. As for religion, it's appealing because it's very specific as far as the Th'akh shamanistic practices go. And Th'akh is the religion that Thr'us will practice himself, having a very apathetic behavior towards cyborgs, the AI, and IPCs. Though, not hateful or disdainful, he will treat them well, just as he oils his blade to keep it sharp and clean of rust. The contact war is interesting. It provides an opportunity to have extremist Unathi viewpoints which can bring division among Unathi crew members as a result. Thr'us is rather fresh into the interspecies relations world. Having gone straight from his clan's home into the security academy, Thr'us will actually develop his views on other species heavily based on his interactions shift by shift in-game, which I think will allow for a really dynamic character arc that can be affected by the roleplay of other characters. Thr'us wants to practice enforcement and soldiering to a degree as station security. While not entirely parallel to his future life as warrior, it is close enough that he likely will be put in a variety of situations that test his discipline and efforts to uphold his own honor, even if others do not realize that due to ignorance. An ideal scenario would be for example; An assailant violently assaults several members of crew and is considered dangerous, and Thr'us encounters them. Despite the reality that entering the fray with a stun gun would be better and more efficient, he respects his clan's traditions and enters with a stun baton instead. This gives him an opportunity to hone his melee skills while also apprehending a dishonorable fugitive who has attacked unarmed innocents. Of course, he would not continue to beat them once they are down, and would actively stop other officers who would dare to commit something so dishonorable. That would be a difficult situation, but he is here to be ready for things like this. His priority is not to 'gloriously' slay the hostage taker, instead, it's to save the innocent. He'd do his best to diffuse the situation and negotiate, even if it meant trading places with the hostage as he himself is much more capable (in his eyes) to handle that situation. Once the innocent was out of the picture, he would wait for an opportune moment to strike and defeat the criminal or die honorably. It has been ingrained in his life since childhood to behave in this manner to one day become an honorable warrior. I may roll antagonist on Thr'us, and if I do, it will only be Renegade and (maybe) mercenary, and loyalist. Much of renegading would involve preparing to honorably combat a threat (but in ways NT might see sketchy), and mercenary would have him act as a hired bodyguard (unless a gimmick that fits a larger group is met in aooc). -
BYOND Key: Kihatomay Character Names: James Praxton, Aleks Martin, LHT-001 Species you are applying to play: Unathi What color do you plan on making your first alien character: A dark brown, virtually indistinguishable from black. Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: Yes. Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question. Why do you wish to play this specific race: Unathi are space-age lizardmen from warhammer in my eyes, which is incredibly awesome and fun to play. Having a predatory mindset due to their nature and extensively violent racial history also allows for a degree of confrontational behavior that can bring a fun spin to every round if done with tact and carefully sticking to the culture of the species. Which I fully intend to do! I would love to provide entertaining interactions to other players as many Unathi players have done for me. Character Name: Thr'us Zuhlisk Please provide a short backstory for this character: Thr'us was born to the clan Zuhlisk, a lesser clan that holds great personal honor for their consistency in the men born to it reaching the status of warrior in respectable service under a Lord. But what with the rise of Unathi and Hegemony presence in galactic space, avenues towards becoming a warrior are more varied and it happens that upon reaching maturity, Thr'us entered into employment with NanoTrasen under the Security department. This was one of those new avenues, where he began his training as an honorable warrior of sorts, protecting the weak and enforcing codes that mirrored the system of honor he so deeply revered. Of course, there might come a time where corporate desires may clash with his code of honor, and that is where his employment will end. But until then, Thr'us and his clan's elders see it as an opportunity to hone martial skills and retain honorable habits and discipline befitting of his future goal. What do you like about this character? Thr'us is a fun character. He aims to embody and practice the honor and martial skills related to being a warrior, but will have to balance that with inter-species galactic policies and the diverging perspectives on life and values that he will come to interact with. It'll provide a fair amount of character development as time goes on and he experiences life outside of Moghes. How would you rate your role-playing ability? I would say I am a fairly good roleplayer that enjoys the small details and intelligent gameplay. I like to learn stuff and incorporate what I learn into my roleplaying.

BYOND Key: Kihatomay Character Names: James Praxton, Ulfar Salman, Aleks Martin, LHT-001, Thr'us Zuhlisk Species you are applying to play: Vaurca What color do you plan on making your first alien character: 27, 0, 3 - Traditional coloring of Zoleth brood marred and darkened by bruising and staining from security training. Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: Yes. Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question. Why do you wish to play this specific race: The Vaurca have a really interesting aesthetic and remind me of the villain of the first Men In Black movie in that respect, but once you get into the meat of their lore it gets even more interesting. They are complicated and have intricate societal restrictions as well as their own version of synthetics with growing lobotomized slave caste Vaurca that fill a number of jobs with no discontent due to their situation. It's cool to me, and that's before getting into their VR provided by Queens and hosted by Cephalons. Pretty nuts. Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: Everything about the station is foreign to you, and jading. You're stationed to be outside the VR of the Hive, and that inherently sucks. You're not really trusted by the commanding staff and in general your species is so different that you might even find others scared of you just because of your appearance. You don't feel the drive to be better at something than a human, but they might feel that desire in regards to you and you'll not be able to relate. It's good being alien. Character Name: Za'Akaix'Zahx Zo'ra Please provide a short backstory for this character Initially signs were shown by a gestating Za within the brood of Zoleth that indicated the designation of Bound. However, by luck, it was instead determined to be a candidate to be sent to improve relations with the megacorp NanoTrasen as the anomaly that initially showed a tiny increase in competitive nature, something unnecessary and even sometimes detrimental to the functionality of the Hive, was something that may prove fitting for a mixed species environment. Being that Zahx was hatched a Za with considerable size, growing to a height of 7 feet 7 inches in it's standard hunched stature, it was designated Unbound and prepared to be processed as a Security Cadet upon a fitting station governed by the megacorp. After all, such a being would likely incite workplace obedience and prevent straying from workplace normality simply by appearance and presence. This proved a difficult goal to reach despite that, as it took several years for Za'Akaix'Zahx Zo'ra to even pass the standardized examinations for performance as a Cadet, being often outclassed by the still far more competitive peers of other species. Yet he reached a passing performance level and was provided a post upon a common phoron research facility built upon an asteroid. It was perfect for the Vaurca given the environment was slow paced and had many intertwining hallways similar to that of a hive, and as such, his first shift began, under the scrutiny of peers that saw him as either frightening, or simply not belonging. He himself was jaded by the miserable years outside the VR of the Hive, leaving him apathetic to many joys such as joint break hours with other faculty, compounding his growing status as a loner and distanced individual. What do you like about this character?: He is flawed and relatively unfit for Hive life in the comfort of VR, but rather fitting for a position outside of it to further relations with NanoTrasen at his comfort and happiness' expense for the Mother of Victories. It's a bleak life that while undeniably perfect, is also tragic. How would you rate your role-playing ability?: I would say I am a fairly good roleplayer that enjoys the small details and intelligent gameplay. I like to learn stuff and incorporate what I learn into my roleplaying.

[Accepted] Kihatomay's IPC Whitelist Application
Kiha replied to Kiha's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
If it has to be removed by someone during the round, I'll have to get in with a roboticist or someone with the capability to do so. Now, I'd PREFER to have gotten on board through illegal means without my tag, A.K.A, HI pays NT to allow them to place this experimental unit on Aurora. If that's not alright with you, I'm fine with having my initial goal be removing the tag. Perhaps a malfunction purposely caused by H.I. You know, causing the unit to literally believe it is human by all means. HOWEVER, as I said, I'd prefer the experiment with consent from NT route. -
[Accepted] Kihatomay's IPC Whitelist Application
Kiha replied to Kiha's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
Yeah. That's what I would enjoy about it, having the objective of maintaining a human persona alongside other goals every round would allow for a very dynamic character. The Shell is supposed to be an experiment by HI, if people who became the IPC's friends found out, would they turn the IPC in to be retagged, or would they consider it still a human and try to help it stay icognito? It allows for not only a fun way of playing a crewmember for me, but other players will be met with choices that could define a round. -
BYOND Key: Kihatomay Character Names: James Praxton Species you are applying to play: IPCs What color do you plan on making your first alien character (Dionaea & IPCs exempt): Exempt Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: Yes. Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question Why do you wish to play this specific race: I have a fascination with consciousness and how one perceives others. Because of that, I want to try to blend in with the human populace as much as possible as one of the human-like IPCs, and try my best to maintain a relative ignorance in the crew as to what I really am. When I interact I will emulate normal behavior with odd quirks in it that bring one to question my character's true nature. Despite not feeling pain, it will try to behave as though it feels it. The same goes for emotions, however due to being an IPC, morality, and efficiency, will become muddled. Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: IPCs do not feel pain, and are essentially AI's put into a frame that can be operated akin to a humanoid being. The lack of true emotions and pain, gives them a unique place as a 'race' among the many employed by NT. With this in mind, you have to understand that you cannot react irrationally to a situation, despite the context. After all.. you're just a robot.. right? Character Name: Aleks Martin Please provide a short backstory for this character, approximately 2 paragraphs Aleks Martin, Product ID A.M, is a state-of-the-art integration experiment by HI to see how biological beings would react upon realization their co-worker is infact, not 'alive'. They have set directives to not reveal the true nature of Aleks, and facilitate blending in with the organic crew as best virtually possible. Having gone through several tests, all with outstanding results on civilians, it is decided it is time for him to enter the work-force in stride. Aleks is stationed now on Aurora, programmed with the knowledge of all the things one would need in this setting, making him capable of filling any role necessary during a shift to facilitate productivity and obtain data on how he integrates with the crew's biological members. With this IPC's development an entirely new forefront on perspective of sentience and consciousness will be accessible, but how will others react? What do you like about this character? The concept around Aleks' peers not knowing what he really is interests me greatly and I hope that I will get to expand upon this if I am accepted, allowing for growth and changes based on how rounds go. I most like the fact that I will get to see others react to the mystery around the character, and I look forward to seeing how things unfold. How would you rate your role-playing ability? I'm not that bad. But there is always room for improvement, for everyone. Notes:
