  3. Look, just let me have a blue suit with a red tie, gelled slick back hair and let me yell "OBJECTION!" Every time the judge tries to talk, yhat's all the law degree I need. I suppose we could create a handbook as a guide and people can use that for the lawyer job, people will still neef to make their own decisions based on certain situations, the guide would just help them to get familiar with the concept of their powers/what's expected of lawyers.
  4. I respect what you're saying, but the reality is not all of us can spare money. I, myself, have a career I need to spend my budget on and while I do love this server and Byond my personal life deserves more attention than supporting Byond. I know that there may be another alternative to keep the game running anyway, there's database files I believe which may or may not work(MySQL) if it supports such things. Also, I wouldn't advise to lock roles behind a paywall. Games do this mainstream bullshit all the time and it's not only annoying but you're typically holding a piece of art at ransom. For games that you don't pay for and FTP games, I understand that FTP games need those to survive however many FTP games also follow the sterotype to have those roles be OP or essentially an almost god-like ability. Hell, I even remember one game prioritized your admin reports based on how much you donated, people who could afford to donate over $700 was granted with first class response from admins and ass-kissing. Definitely off-putting. I like the idea of coloured names, what about a teamspeak group of your own? Or how about forum badges, special titles/ranks with certain permissions, etc. Those things are good, but they also have to be worth the buyers time, too. My 2cents.
  5. GABEN BE PRAISED! It's alive! It's really alive!
  6. Damnit... why must Byond do this. >.>
  7. The office shutters serve for two purposes: to prevent the HoS's office being invaded/vandalised by enemies/traitors, and ofcourse they serve as privacy. This is rather trivial as it serves two purposes and fulfills them without an arising issue.
  8. Meh, not important then.
  9. Hm... nah. It's fine the way it is, really. How come this would get changed? From what the OP said - when I have enough time to read it properly instead of skimming, you're talking about breaking free from restraints but it wouldn't be announced such as "X is trying to uncuff themselves!" In that case, it really shouldn't be changed. Why? Because the answer is simple: if you tried to break restraints, there would be alot of activity going on to do so, granted my brother escaped cuffs one time by slipping his wrist through but that's because he had skinny arms.
  10. Well, they all have one thing in common; they have beards.
  11. I've seen very little of Bickerson, so I can't exactly say what he is like. As a Warden he is generally calm as far as I have seen, and he hasn't pulled some stunts, or any that I know of.
  12. I have played with Ahren Hawkins before while he is a detective. He's a very good roleplayer while we work side by side. He hasn't to my knowledge ever abused his equipment or being overly-robust. He demonstrates the proper ability to engage with other people on the station and to become involved. I can see him being Head, definitely.
  13. I used to make songs when I was 17, gone to a studio and whatnot and tried it all out. From a very young age I was always hypnotized with loving music, especially hiphop. I tried my very best to make it all work but despite that, it never happened. I did get picked up by a label and but I also got scammed and was dropped and other artists went cold on me, etc. I'm not sure if I'll be returning back to the scene but I might. Depends on what happens with my producer. Here's the link, check it out if you haven't heard of me before. https://youtu.be/sPiNjcdbUo4 honestly, I'm embarrassed to hear myself, oh and I should also drop a link to my most embarrassing songs yet: https://youtu.be/eOj9koCplwc << if this song has any issues playing, let me know. Unfortunately I was signed with a scam record and they ended up stealing my song rights and since then it's been hell to get this on youtube without the content ID picking it up as "copyright infringement" ironic, isn't it?
  14. BYOND key: Richard_Lennox Character names: Dayton Ironmonger, Sophia Ironmonger. How long have you been playing on Aurora?: Approxminitly for 2 years now and 9 months. Why do you wish to be on the whitelist?: I would like to be on the whitelist because I'm confident in making choices, I make a reasonable effort to interact with other crew members so people come to be familiar with me. As for my decision making abilities in action, I jumped down a chute to hide in it while I waited for an intruder to pass and catch them. However, I was promptly shut down by the chute automatically closing on me. On a more serious note, I can make a good judgement call by basing it on the evidance shown to me. There have been times where I needed to secure a prisoner in the Brig and I was able to contain them on my own. My character is of age to be considered for the role and she has the IC experience behind her to give her a good confident and variety-based background. Why did you come to Aurora?: I came to Aurora in my early stages of learning about SS13's existance. I joined and this server had stuck with me because it's unique players and the custom sprites. Aurora is a unique station and I'm proud to be part of playing it. Have you read the BS12 wiki on the head roles you plan on playing?: Yes. I prefer trial and error, but I have used wiki's for multiple jobs in the past. Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph each. Give a definition of what you think roleplay is, and should be about: Roleplay is where you assume the role of another person, a new identity, personality, quirks and traits. I believe Roleplay should be about having fun with other players and keeping the experience immersive. Ultimately, it's about meeting new people, playing in historical or current settings, hell, even folklore settings and fictional races too. What do you think the OOC purpose of a Head of Staff is, ingame?: The purpose of Head of Staff is to ensure their team are controlled in a sense no one is messing around, such as harmbatoning other crew members, it keeps the stress off of the HoP and Captain who would otherwise be plunged with crew members who are just messing about most of the time. But there are also forms to sign that can only be issued by a HoS usually when I'm online. The Head of Staff is also more orientated to paperwork and making sure every crew member on their team is up to scratch. What do you think the OOC responsibilities of Whitelisted players are to other players, and how would you strive to uphold them?: A whitelisted player has the responsibility is to make sure things are where they should be, no one getting access that they shouldn't be, and to ensure there are no grudges in the workplace. But also, to push the crew members to work to the best of their abilities. I would strive to uphold these responsibilities by giving my fellow colleuges criticism where I see fit. I also will have to uphold the responsibility when I'll sign forms and document certain events and such. Please pick one of your characters for this section, and provide well articulated responses to the following questions. Character name: Sophia Ironmonger. Character age: 39. Please provide a short biography of this character (approx 2 paragraphs): When Sophia was a teenager she was helping her father with his small business. He owned a independent garage that fix bikes and Sophia worked there, not for family reasons of seeing the business skyrocket, but because she needed money and she saw this as an open opportunity. While working there her father had made some friends from his past and they would always go and check up on how he and his business were doing, he wasn't just friends with the humans but also had a friend who is Tajaran. All from rebellious and living wreckless walks of life they spoke in Gutter when they were talking about sensitive topics, such as illegality. Sophia came to know about their illegal business and the whole language of Gutter when her dads' friends took an interest in her, ofcourse while she was only roughly 16 they were much older. They taught her abit of the language and let her have a peek in their business. By the time Sophia turned 18 her mother had returned from years of a long trip doing business away for a private corperation, mainly architecture and training other crew members with certain knoweldge such as data-coding, and the like. Occasianally she would lend a hand to help with Xenobiologists, help them to understand on aliens they operate and study. Ofcourse as this is a private corp. They paid her highly due to the private sector supply. But all those years away from her daughter and son really changed them into indifferent people. Ofcourse they already passed their phase of missing their mother, but now they're into an age where they both are living in the now, in the moment, and loving every bit of it. At this age, Sophia had taken an interest in getting her reputation for being a smuggler and so she took it upon herself to get in deep with a local gang, nothing too major, just a street gang that nobody paid attention to. At this rate she was pushing 20 pounds of illegal narcotics, from bags to boxes. Eventually she was found pushing only 2 grams of a herb which is illegal, and was arrested for up to 6 months in a low security prison. However, her time of being there helped her to develop her learning of the Gutter language, as many prisoners became fluent in it from other organizations and street gangs and alike. So it was supposed to be 6 months, right? Wrong! Her time of swearing at authority figures and fighting other inmates forced her sentence to from being 6 months, to a year. But when she was taunted into a fight with another member of a rivial gang she made a makeshift knife, improvising. During lunchtime in the cafeteria Sophia and a friend ambushed the rivial member and he suffered two stabs wounds and one of the wounds were noticable on his face. This bumped her up to 2 years and a medium security prison. From here the rules were different and the guards were robust. She quickly found herself in Solitary confinement most of the time while others could mingle with eachother. From here she was finally having time to herself, and didn't have to pay any attention to the world. It was a slow and hard journey but eventually Sophia took the time to think and explore herself further. It was a hard change but in a month she went from being in Solitary confinement and reading books to herself, to meditating and exploring her goals she would like to achieve in her lifetime. Her aggressive nature was toned down alot and even the guards had noticed it and dropped a quick feedback note to Sophia. Making things easier for herself at the prison she was then released on parole with a chip, for her past offences and violent nature. She resumed working with her father's bike shop to earn the money she needed but also because no other place would take her, and refused to push anymore narcotics for the gang she was with. Because of her reputation they were afraid of her outburst, they didn't confront her about the decisions she was making. She focused on going to a foreigner based college where no one would know her and was far enough away from her house. She was focusing in Bachelors for documentation and enquiry purposes, also administrative. She knew it would be a handy tool to have by her side aswell as fixing two-weeled vehicles. At the age she hit in her mid twenties she had finally made enough money to buy her a formal attire and to decently sit a job interview after the police released her from parole. The job she was going for was to do with performing maintence, test riding and repairing bikes and similar driving appliances... yes, we're looking at you, Segways! She also had heard about sealing any convictions which she considered before applying for the job. By this point she had a child with her boyfriend, but after a couple of months of the baby being born, Sophia and her partner were not on good terms and in the end she had called off the relationship. She doesn't know what's happened to him nor does she really care, their outbursts for the past few months were intense enough to cause Sophia to have shame anxiety, she was afraid of it happening again. But after seeing a therapist and taking medicine to help adverse her anxiety, she would soon be cured of it and return back to being herself, fully. Sophia's brother, Dayton, is now usually stuck with handling her child as she boards the shuttle to dock at the station and begin her work for NanoTreason. What do you like about this character?:Their entire history isn't so bad, it's not a complete Mary Sue either. I like it, it's a rational, well balanced background. I also like her hair, though. It's unique! What do you dislike about this character?: She's very tired most of the time. Her sense of humor is quite dry, and when other people have a different sense of humor from hers, it tends to conflict with her being moody, ESPECIALLY with pranks. What do you think makes this character fit to be a head of staff?: Sophia has come a long way, from being in prison to working in a job and eventually gaining herself a proper job rather then staying in her dads small business. Although it was wrong what she did in her past, it demonstrates she has the will and integrity to stick things out. Taking care of her child also shows her taking responsibility as a parent. Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions. How would you rate your own roleplaying?: 10/10. Extra notes: If there are any issues or queries, do not hesitate to contact me, I don't bite.
  15. Reporting Personnel: Sophia Ironmonger. Rank of Reporting Personnel: Warden. Personnel Involved: Gregory Lemons. Time of Incident: 4:00-5:00am Location of Incident: Security Brig. Nature of Incident: []Workplace Hazard []Accident/Injury []Destruction of Property [X]Neglect of Duty []Harassment []Assault [X]Misconduct []Other. Overview of the Incident: Gergory Lemons has been using foul language over general comms, even going so far as to become racially aggravated. He has insulted myself, Warden Ironmonger, during the shift, referring to me in derogatory terms and general disrespect during his processing and when he was confined into his cell. Did you report it to a Head of Staff or IAA? If so, who?: The Head of Staff was very busy at the time and there were no Internal Affairs Agency member on this shift, as I am aware. Additional notes: His work productivity seems to be low, and he appears to be a repeat offender as in the same shift, in the same night, he was returned to the cells for atleast two or three times. He was eventually led off the station during the evacuation to Odin. Once we landed into Odin we loaded him into a cell and kept him there until he was attended to.
  16. I support him. I have roleplayed with Sybil-M I believe it was. Their roleplay was meaningful and had value to it. Granted, I could only roleplay with him one time because I'm always in medical as paramedic, however, he seems to be genuine. After spending some more time roleplaying with Sybil-M, they have proved to taken control of a situation and always use the most drastic measure as a last resort while negotiating other options. 1+ from me!
