  1. Added more info to the question in question. Or something.
  2. I just brought up this problem the other day on OOC. I've often found myself feeling like an outsider, even as one of the longer playing members of Aurora. When I see the same people consistently getting invited into different offices and offered these technically non-existent jobs, round after round, it feels like there's some elite club that the rest of us aren't invited to. Surely if you want a job badly enough, you can get it white-listed like everyone else. I was told to simply walk over to the HoP and get it sorted myself, maybe ask if I can get an interesting job. I (Paul Redeker) walked to the HoP office, granted there was some cult shenanigans on board, none my own, but after a lengthy consult with the very helpful HoP at the time, may have been Ellis Crowley, I was told to speak to the HoS, Silaris Uaekis, as soon as possible. I enquired about whether there was a possibility of either taking command of HoS, as interim command, or assisting the HoS in his matters, shadowing him and getting used to the role, in the event I was whitelisted. I was told by the HoP that I wasn't allowed be promoted from Assistant, to Security Officer, and certainly nothing relating to a command option, because after he suggested I take over, he simply said no, after a long series of questions, all asked to the HoP, not myself. He said his reasons were "I don't know him". That to me screams absolute elitism. I'm not sour about not being given a shiny new suit and a group of Sec Officers, I was angry with how the situation unfolded, and how poorly it was handled. Not only after I waited outside was I never actual seen, but when I tried to get into contact with any other Sec member, they all walked off. I feel the Assistant garb throws people off. I have in fact worked with Silaris Uaekis several times, often helping a closure of a case, or a resolving of a crime, as detective or CSI, Sec Officer or whatever. I feel that a lot of the heads associate with each other too much, and it doesn't make much sense IC. To make a long story short, I asked for what I saw being offered to "regular" people, and was treated like a bold child, made to sit there, and people answering questions for me. I know people are busy, but as a person experienced in Security, I felt that everything was a shambles that round. Feel free to give feedback or explain anything I may have misunderstood, because I love this server, and I just want to make sure we all know what's going on to the "regular regulars" rather than just the elite singles group.

  4. My charachter Paul has played with Tanja for a few shifts now. I think she's very workable, she might just need to get a bit more involved. RP is what you make it, and often I see her maybe standing a little by the waysides. She's a great RPer, and should absolutely be considered for head, but I think she should also get that little bit more involved. Also had to laugh at chasing that fuckwit around the whole station before I thrashed him with my cane, and someone threw a flashbang. all because we never had cuffs. PROTIP: Bring many pairs of cuffs Edit: Character might also be a bit young.

  6. YOND key: James Campbell Character names: Paul Redeker, How long have you been playing on Aurora?: Over a year, Just back into it last few weeks,. Why do you wish to be on the whitelist?: I think I'd do well, and have learned a lot, also heads are very important, and I like the idea of being an important part of the gameplay Why did you come to Aurora?: A friend of mine recommended it after I didn't like the "Diet RP" on many servers. Have you read the BS12 wiki on the head roles you plan on playing?: I have Please provide well articulated and argumented answers to the following questions in a paragraph each. Give a definition of what you think roleplay is, and should be about: Role play is the act of giving an appropriate response to a given situation, in the view of a character you've created. Roleplay should not only be realistic and reasonable, but interesting, leading to a further development in a situation, never bland, and should always contain a signature. Roleplay should also be immersive and enjoyable for all involved, while giving a good reason for what you're doing in your character's respect. Powergaming, metagaming and the like are strictly off the table. What do you think the OOC purpose of a Head of Staff is, ingame?: Ensure that things are running smoothly, No Icly in OOcly, as well as micromanaging any concerns of an assistance nature. Most importantly displaying an example for others to follow. Also making sure that people are managing their roles well, and make sure they know what they are doing. If in doubt, instruction is always important. Alongside this, an appropriate, friendly and cordial approach in OOC is important. Assisting in any queries relating to assistance in OOC, for example any help a new player might be involved in. Above all, an example of good behaviour in OOC is always important, as well as on forum activity and showing involvement with the Aurora experience. What do you think the OOC responsibilities of Whitelisted players are to other players, and how would you strive to uphold them?: To again, provide an example for other players to follow, and deal with any non-admin related queries. A solid knowledge of the game is vital. Please pick one of your characters for this section, and provide well articulated responses to the following questions. Character name: Paul Redeker Character age: 40 Please provide a short biography of this character (approx 2 paragraphs): Born on Mars in 2417 Paul and his brother James were brought up in the lower residential slums of the capitol. After receiving no education, they decided to embark on a more adventurous career on New Magnitka, working for the mining camps. These were met with serious complications as the prisons that were installed on the same planet were fuelling with revolutionary rage. The two brothers were caught up in the revolutionary movement that swept through the planet like a cancer. During one of the chaos filled riots, James was killed by a furious explosion caused by a suicide bomber, one of the prison revolutionaries. Paul was also gravely wounded in the same incident, but was found by Nano-Trasen officials, and in return for feeding information about the rebels, Paul was offered re-constructive surgery and prosthesis. His eyes, and right limbs were rebuilt and repaired, as well as a new pacemaker assisted heart was transplanted from an anonymous donor. After the riot war on New Magnitka was over, Paul was sent by Nano-Trasen to the Security Academy, and following proper testing, qualified as a crime scene investigator, and managed to climb to the rank of detective, within the NT security force. His speciality is interrogation and questioning, as well as his intuitive approach to apprehending suspects. He also has displayed effectiveness in active patrol duty and dealing with criminals face to face, showing apt skill in subduing. What do you like about this character?: His Straight-shooting style of crime fighting. What do you dislike about this character?: He often goes "off the books" in some situations. Do you think this character is fit to be a Head of Staff?: I do Why?:, He has a serious knowledge of corporate guidelines, and is a very capable leader, showing initiative in many situations in the face of adversity. Please provide well articulated and argumented answers to the following questions. How would you rate your own roleplaying?: Honestly, my RP is very good. My only downfall is the fact that I read into situations a bit much, as well as my slightly aggressive, hands on approach to Roleplaying. Extra notes:
  7. I can take it, I can even write more about that if need be.
  8. I was here for a while quite a while back, I used to play engineer, and sometimes Sec, but I was busy with stuff so I came back a few weeks ago. Tool, and Gollee should remember me.
  9. Hey guys, Medium time player here. Just wondering if you could let me write the story behind New Magnitka, and maybe flesh out the story a lot more. My character is from there, and although I've found a small bit of information about the planet, there's no real source. It seems to be glossed over in nearly every lore source, so I was wondering if I could flesh out Aurora's story for it. It's been agreed that it was a mining colony on the edge of the Inner Colonies. It is also fairly commonly agreed that there was a series of heavy combat filled riots and rebellions by the workers, which was in turn crushed by NT. I'll write the bare essentials down here and whoever decides what can have a look at it. Thanks guys!! Type (e.g. Planet, Faction, System): Planet Founding/Settlement Date (if applicable): 2411 Region of Space: Inner Colonies Controlled by (if not a faction): Nano-Trasen/ Private Mining Corp Other Snapshot information: Mining Colony planet, specializing in rarer minerals. Long Description: After the discovery of New Magnitka in the Long Voyage of exploration in the late 2300s, terraforming began as soon as the discovery of precious gems and stones, and many raw materials were found following an environmental scan. The mining corporation was installed and up and running within 3 years. Under the CEO Marcus Friedman and a joint sponsorship of NT and several smaller security firms, the workers who signed up for mining work contracts were placed under near slavery conditions. For twenty years the conditions deteriorated under Friedman's rule, who not only displayed prejudice against non-human races, but also to the poor and working class people, often making examples of his guards and staff who fell under that range. After these tensions rose to a near critical mass, a decision was made to turn the security force into a near military grade police force, and track down and criminal activity. This in turn was followed by the decision to create a prison in one of the mined out quarries. This prison grew to a gargantuan size, "Swollen like a wound with the infection of Beggars" were Friedman's own words. When word got out that the planet was essentially turning into a labour camp, efforts were made to cover up the entire thing. This led to no outside support for the miners and the wrongfully imprisoned. New Magnitka was soon looked at as an official labour camp planet, with many of the original workers, working alongside real criminals. These complications led to a high increase in violent activities with both the NT security forces and the prisoner's/ miners on the surface. Eventually Friedman declared martial law, which forced curfew, and essentially treated every member of the "workforce" as a prisoner. Eventually the mixture of prisoners and workers mixed to a very gang like force, which spoke through violence, and this turned things truly nasty. These forces combined and eventually, following a ambush, which descended into a full scale skirmish, a full state of emergency was declared after three days of continuous revolt. The first year of the riots was filled with guerilla warfare, with the insurgents trying to gain ground and take supplies. After the second year the riots escalated into a full scale war. Nano-Trasen took a more viscious approach when Friedman called in a full PMC platoon, which drove a spearhead to the heart of the rebels. This approach along with the collaboration of certain original workers led to the eventual destruction of the terrorist cells that had developed from the original rebellion. The planet now lies as a desolate last resort for work for any miners out there. No it's not Red Faction.
