He informed me that Bartender Trigan had stuck gum into Warden Reyer's hair, and had fled to the Bar in order to escape their wrath. However, Warden Reyer caught up and confronted Bartender Trigan in a following incident which was resolved in the shift. An interview conducted by Investigator Coldsmith had Bartender Trigan admit that she purposefully conducted this act, defending it as a mutual "joke" of sorts, which was not supported by Warden Reyer's violent reaction. Before Bartender Trigan was able to be charged with Battery for this conduct, she ended her shift and travelled down to her quarters. Submitted Evidence: Interview transcript with Shinnan Trigan collected by Investigator Coldsmith, although the radio logs for the Interrogation room frequency will provide the same information. Would you like to be personally interviewed?: [ ] - Yes [X] - No Did you report it to a Head of Staff or a superior? If so, who? If not, why?: Yes, Captain Kasongo was aware of the situation and I informed him of the outcome of the incidents. Actions taken: Preparations for processing Bartender Trigan and charging her with Battery were made before her departure. Additional Notes: N/A

How to revive checkpoint mallcops and bully janitor mains
beepbopbeepbop replied to Lmwevil's topic in Suggestions & Ideas
I think the inclusion of a checkpoint in a frequently travelled area would be a great positive for the ship. -
BYOND Key: notagonk (anthony.albanese on discord which i think is more applicable in this situation) Staff BYOND Key: Lmwevil (squidqueen on the discord, which is more useful once again) Game ID: On the main discord server. Reason for complaint: Unfair issuing of a strike. Evidence/logs/etc: For context, a reference to the succulent chinese meal guy was made, and i continued onto the reference by quoting one of the lines he says when he is being arrested. The message in question; The ping which caused the staff member to issue the strike; And the messages which show the staff member was unaware this was a reference to a pretty well-known meme, not seriously talking about genitalia; Additional remarks: I am making this complaint due to the fact I believe the comment I made did not warrant any warning, or break any rules, and that it sets a precedent that the two thousand times the word penis has been used in the server it warranted a warning, or was against the rules. I really just hope that the strike is removed, although I would like to take the chance to comment on the usage of strikes so casually. As a final note, I did ask the complainant if their ping to wevil was a serious issue with my behaviour for the purposes of the staff complaint, but they didn't respond.

Following all the horrors and disfigurement imposed on the Skrell by Glorsh-Omega, which I touched upon earlier, the behaviours of a Skrell in-game would reflect this in a few ways. As Glorsh-Omega was an AI itself, your average Skrell will range from being hateful to fearful towards any sort of artificial intelligence, or even similar in the case of Viax or Cephalons. Therefore, Skrell in-game almost universally disdain synthetic life and will be pretty open about this, while still remaining professional and abiding by the regulations. Examples of could be Skrell acting more suspicious of synthetics in an act of wrongdoing, or being very open about the collective experience of their species in hopes of showing the threat of artificial life. They could also have difficulty in working with, or trusting synthetic crewmates and so they will usually have negative relationships. In the case a Skrell is not as fervently opposed to synthetics as many others, they will act the part regardless, as the Federation would not allow otherwise.

BYOND Ckey: not-a-gonk Discord username: anthony.albanese Character names: Sozoska Han'san, Head of Security Ta'Akaix'Luiya'ves'xati C'thur, Consular Officer Ta'Akaix'Zhuyix'kiux'yit K'lax, Consular Officer Ka'Akaix'Linv C'thur, Physician Ka'Viax'Zhul K'lax, Engineer (my beloved) Za'Akaix'Yir C'thur, Security Officer Valeriya Gyllenhaal, Chief Medical Officer Keqiang Zhao, Captain Akshay Kumar, Chief Engineer Hong Nguyen, Chief Engineer Marcelo Sampaio, Chief Medical Officer Marielle Caladius, Consular Officer Species you are applying to play: Skrell ------------------------------ General Whitelist Requirements What colour do you plan on making your first alien character?: White, tinted a bit more red or purple, will see which looks better. Have you read the lore pages for the species you wish to be whitelisted for?: Yes. Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question. Why do you wish to play this species?: For my many months playing on the server (we may be up to a year now), I have mostly ignored Sklore and focused on other species. This changed when I got my Vaurca whitelist and started playing C'thur; if I was going to actually play a C'thur, then I would need to learn at least a basic level of Skrell lore, and I did. Over the last few months of playing C'thur, I can confidently say that Sklore has captivated my interest with the combination of an old empire rebuilding after a great tragedy contrasted with the themes of a progressive and scientific culture at odds with traditionalist and authoritarian values enforced by actual mind influences: pretty interesting stuff. What makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a human?: Biologically, Skrell are a species of amphibious, extremely long-lived humanoids from the planet Qerrbalak in the Nralakk system. Due to this nature, they must maintain a constant level of moisture, are a variety of colours that can be manipulated through spa treatments and diet, and their signature headtails used for egg incubation and gesticulation. A major aspect of their biological and social themes are dictated by their psionic abilities, the Nlom, and the Srom. In simple terms, psionics are used by Skrell in everyday conversations to convey anything from words, emotions, thoughts, and can be utilised to hold an entire conversation. The Nlom is the word for Psionic Wake in Nral'malic, that is the psionic thought field that emanates from an individual Skrell, projecting their own thoughts and feelings. These bubbles grow larger and more concrete as time goes on, and the Nlom of individual Skrell living in the same place will multiply each other into a massive Nlom that can cover an entire planet, although it cannot extend farther as Nlom fields are disrupted by the vacuum of space. The Srom is the state in which a Skrell's brain, when entering deep sleep, will cease emitting a Nlom and begin to emit signals to the shared consciousness named the Dream, or Srom in Nral'malic. The Srom is used by Skrell for a large variety of purposes due to it's malleable nature; the subconsciousness can be altered by those with the psionic aptitude and skill. Due to the nature of the Srom communication is more easily understood as a stream of conscious thoughts, enabling an easier communal workspace at the expense of keeping ones own thoughts to themself, a difficultly in the Srom. Most Skrell are also defined by the Nralakk Federation, the authoritarian government that holds control over a vast expanse of space in the galactic west. The Federation is well-known for it's supposed 'meritocratic' government and authoritarian control over it's citizens, utilising a Social Credit Score system and a large propaganda machine, along with the influence of the Nlom, to encourage a level of collective and subservient thinking towards the ideals of the Federation. In order to socially encourage citizens of the Federation to conform to the Federation ideals, society is divided into four numerical bands divided by an individual's SCS. This class system provides those with higher credit scores benefits such as better housing, healthcare, transport, and any other support, while those in the lower bands may even face re-education if their deductive behaviours continue. Skrell will fall into the category of Receiver, those who are more receptive to the Nlom field's spread of ideas, and Listeners, those who are seen to have more independent and subversive thoughts. Listeners will often face discrimination due to this, and they will routinely be the subject of discrimination within the Federation, forming the foundation of dissident activity that flourishes in the outer systems of the Federation (named the Traverse). While the inner systems of the Federation receive unparalleled luxury compared to most places in the Spur, Traversers face significant challenges as apart of their everyday lives, and many are discontent with the lack of Federation support towards their region. That is not to say the Nralakk Federation does not act in the interests of it's citizens, and sees the value of Skrell life as paramount, creating an interesting dynamic for Skrell who leave the Federation and are exposed to the wider Spur. And then, there is the tragedy that the Skrell experienced under the guise of the artificial intelligence Glorsh-Omega. A few hundreds of years ago, the first Nralakk Federation was living with utopian standards, the Skrell species were able to pursue any higher academic hobby they pleased while an vast amount of synthetic machines and AI would complete any menial labour task required. Unfortunately, after many ignored warning signs, Glorsh, a centralised artificial intelligence would rapidly take control over the Nralakk Federation and enslave the Skrellian species under it's 'benevolent' guise, performing unspeakable genetic experimentations on their species. Called the X'lu'oa, this injection given to the Skrell population by Glorsh-Omega would result in the sterilisation of a majority of the species, and cause many to develop health conditions such as Tuux growths and X'lu'oa disorder. Following the mysterious Tri-Qyu Calamity and disappearance of Glorsh-Omega, the Skrell would recover and forever be scared with ink stained eyes by the horrors of artificial intelligence. This history laid the foundation for the intense anti-synthetic hatred felt by the entirety of the Skrellian species; collaboration with synthetics is seen as the highest offence and can result in permanent cryosleep. ------------------------------ Character Application Character Name: Vaxoq'ezhin Xanir-Kirnas Write a backstory for your character. This may include their origin, education, personality and how they arrived to the SCCV Horizon. Quvs. Vaxoq'ezhin Xanir-Kirnas was hatched in the arcology of Haq'tola'zlip, on the arctic planet of Aliose during 11'viq Slaq-qog 2289-oqq, to a Quya of 8 Skrell. Vaxoq themself is a Xiialt Skrell who falls under the Receiver category, and is moderately psionically sensitive, although they still bear the scars of X'lu'oa in the form of minor Tuux growths on their face, and are completely sterile. Since they were an egg, Vaxoq's Quya would each provide a great deal of attention and love to the tadpole from hatching through to Scuttle Schooling, and their Aqi'qa ceremony would tether Vaxoq to their Qrri'myaq, Reqi-tuulor Qro-Tiipis, a former Magistrate. Decades would pass under the tutelage of their Qrri'myaq before they would undertake their Qebalak Coming-of-Age ceremony, and then their Odurserr; presented with a variety of items, they chose a replication of a Skrellian recording device which was symbolically thrown into the flames to signal Vaxoq's choice. Now progressing through the Reefgardens, Vaxoq would be trained in a litany of subjects to prepare them for a relatively mundane future in data and informational technologies, leading into the beginnings of a degree in the aforementioned field at the Aliose Institute of Data and Informatic Sciences, in the Orq'wesi arcology. It was during this time they would be scouted for recruitment by the Ruupkala, and go on to continue their studies at the Institute, earning a further two degrees in legal sociology and intelligence analysis while undertaking an internship at a low-level Ruupkala office for data analytics on Aliose. At the age of 89 2378, Vaxoq who now held the honorific of Star Graduate, was placed as an intelligence analyst in the Traverse systems. They would go on to monitor and assess information for decades of service, primarily in the Pluat Ven’qop, but also in the Qukala-Median Treqki, and eventually the Q'elpi; the posting that would culminate in their appointment as the station chief for a moderately important Ruupkala surveillance base, monitoring dissidence within the Traverser population and providing actionable intelligence to the other Kala where possible. Following the Tau Ceti Accords in 2452, and general shrinking of the Solarian Alliance, Vaxoq realised the difficulty progressing any higher than their current position in the Ruupkala and saw the potential in pursuing a position representing the Nralakk Federation abroad. Given their expertise in high-level analysis and intelligence gathering, Vaxoq had a desirable background for a position in foreign affairs, and was accepted along a wave of newer Representatives to take advantage of Sol's weakened position. Following a little over two decades of representing the Federation to their old allies in the Solarian Alliance, Vaxoq saw the increasing prominence of the Republic of Biesel on the intergalactic stage, and began to research this developing nation. In the year 2466, they made the choice to switch their Entity of Interest from Sol to Biesel, and due to their adequate reputation were granted a pool of quality postings, from which they choose the SCCV Horizon... Currently, Vaxoq is 177 2466 years old, has an SCS of 8.32, is employed as a Representative of the Nralakk Federation to the Republic of Biesel, and is posted on the SCCV Horizon. Their experience in the Kala and diplomatic fields has encouraged them to cultivate a professional persona, and to depict themself as a hardworking Skrell dedicated wholeheartedly to the successes of their kind. Being an Aliose native, they attended many Veteran's Lodge lectures in their younger years, and even added Kirnas (in reference to Mount Kirnas) to their name as a sign of reverence to the landmark. Since they were a tadpole, Vaxoq has looked to the cosmos with respect because of their rigid upbringing within the Qebalak faith, forming the earliest of their beliefs that would evolve into what they are today. At home, they have been a member of a Quya of four for a few decades now, although this bonding has not brought any tadpoles yet due to fertility complications. Vaxoq also owns a small Buurgis named Oquul, taking great measures to ensure it is healthy and bringing it wherever they travel on their diplomatic endeavours. How has the recent events of the Orion Spur impacted your character? Events such as the Phoron Scarcity, the Solarian Collapse or even the Invasions of Biesel for interstellar-wide affairs, while region-specific events such as the Peacekeeper Mandate, The Titan Rises or even Cold Dawn may impact your character. Traverse Accords/Independent Traverser Movement - As one may expect, Vaxoq has always held the 'subversive Traversers' in low regard. From their experience in the Ruupkala, they would come to expect that this hotspot of dissidents would eventually challenge the benevolent governance of the Federation in time. Following the declaration of martial law in the Marauder Systems, and the ratification of the Traverse Accords, they are personally disappointed that such concessions as officialising dissidents who collaborated with rebels were made with the ITM, but understands that it was a success without bloodshed nonetheless, and the further autonomy provided to the systems ultimately holds little meaning in the grander scheme. Phoron Scarcity - The economic strife that the Phoron Scarcity threw the Nralakk Federation into, and the consequences presented, have worried Vaxoq a great deal. It served as one of the main reasons their interest was piqued by the economically advantageous Republic of Biesel, rather than the stagnating old allies in the Solarian Alliance. Solarian Collapse/Invasions of Biesel - The slow decay of the Solarian Alliance's influence on the Spur, and the rise of the Republic of Biesel, were the other reason Vaxoq decided to switch their Entity of Interest to Biesel. This decay was best displayed in both of the Alliance's failed invasions of Sol (despite the Federation's support of the first), showing that the Alliance did not even have control of their own navy. How does your character view the megacorporation they work for? As Vaxoq works for the Federation, I will offer their views on it and some other related groups: Nralakk Federation - As a Representative of the Federation, Vaxoq holds it within the highest regards; a paragon of society within the Spur. They are a supporter of virtually all aspects of the Federation, such as the SCS system, and the heavy surveillance of the population by the Kala. Politically, they consider themself of the moderate Symbiosis ideology, and align themself inline with Grand Councillor Jrugl's United Federation Party. C'thur Hive - Vaxoq knows well that Skrellian labour shortages, and the ongoing Phoron Scarcity, have resulted in the need for a large and capable workforce. Fortunately for the Federation, the C'thur Hive provides all this and more in the form of their massive numbers of highly capable workers, and even introducing new medical and scientific knowledge from their own expertise. However, they remain aware of the security risk that the Vaurca Viax pose, and are adamant that strong regulations must be maintained in order to minimise the risk of another Glorsh event. Vaxoq is somewhat divided on the topic of Cephalons, having seen their capability when utilised by the Kala; they believe that if not given any power, Cephalons should remain a useful tool. Federation Dionae - Hailing from Aliose, they seldom had the chance to interact with Dionae gestalts, aside from those studying at the Institute. Overall however, Vaxoq views them in much the same way they view the C'thur, as a valuable workforce and component to Federation society. Their ability to easily integrate with Skrellian culture and their usually pacifistic nature has made them highly desirable in Vaxoq's mind, and they would not be opposed to adopting a gestalt into their Quya. Megacorporations - The human megacorporations are viewed as a necessary interaction for the benefit of the Federation in Vaxoq's mind. They are aware of the economic power the megacorporations hold over the Spur, and the benefits that they can even provide with direct interaction (Zeng-Hu and Einstein being the primary examples), however they believe that caution must be taken to ensure the megacorporations do not gain a hold over the Federation's economy.

BYOND Ckey: not-a-gonk Discord username: anthony.albanese Character names: (all the characters i have played recently, yes they are all vaurca; many such cases) Species you are applying to play: Unathi ------------------------------ General Whitelist Requirements What colour do you plan on making your first alien character?: Razir Moss: RGB 27, 50, 27 / Hex #1B321B Have you read the lore pages for the species you wish to be whitelisted for?: Yes Why do you wish to play this species?: With K'lax Vaurca being one of my two most played characters (alongside C'thur Vaurca, shocking...), it wouldn't be a surprise that I gravitate towards Unathi and their lore. For about half a year, I have been reading about Unathi lore and talking about making a whitelist for months on end, and I cannot overstate the how much I like Unathi lore. For all this time, I have seen many Unathi characters and lore discussions, and even participated in the events more recently, and I couldn't think of any excuse not to apply for the species that has had my interest for nearly all of my time playing Aurora. In terms of some of the aspects I like about their lore: their rapid advance in technology and stark contrast of wealth in the society of Moghes creates an incredibly diverse species with uncountable opportunities for roleplay and lore. What makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a human?: As with all of the non-human species in Aurora, it is important to recognise that they all have a distinct way of thinking and life that creates a foundation for all of the surface characteristics of the species. For Unathi in a biological sense, they are an ectothermic and carnivorous species; they work in short bursts, only eat one large meal a day, and are more sluggish and slow than other species. For Unathi culturally however, their view on gender identity being based on your position in society, the strong feudal culture they maintain and integrate into the intergalactic stage, the commonly known loyalty to Unathi Honour, and their incredibly powerful spirituality are all elements that set Unathi apart from the regular human. ------------------------------ Character Application Character Name: Ranza Akaleis Write a backstory for your character. This may include their origin, education, personality and how they arrived to the SCCV Horizon. Ranza Akaleis was hatched of the male sex in Travakh during the year 2422, third hatchling to a reasonably wealthy urban noble clan in the city of Razir, in the Southlands region. The Akaleis Clan had once been an influential landed noble clan with a respected collection of land, wealth and subjects, but time eroded their position into an unlanded urban noble clan now known for political skill and guile within the city of Razir, skills well-suited in this new uncertain age on Moghes. Ranza, decidedly a Healer by the grace of Sk'akh, was quickly taken under the tutelage of Lady Akaleis (consort to the Lord Akaleis), who saw early on that Ranza could be moulded into an effective political agent to ensure the legacy of Clan Akaleis remains intact. By the time the Contact War had began in 2438, Ranza's tutelage under Lady Akaleis in the art of politicking had come to an end; she would be sent to the prestigious University of S'th, then return to the clan to put her craft to use. With the Akaleis Clan firmly loyal supporters of the Hegemony, they saw the insulting and barbaric Traditionalist Coalition as the enemy against the prosperity of the Sinta'Unathi species. Lady Akaleis had Ranza sent away the day after her sixteenth hatching day, seeing the usefulness she would provide during and after the tumultuous conflict. During her years in S'th, Ranza would learn from the greatest intellectuals on Moghes on the wide range of Sinta'studies topics, even earning Mazjivsa qualifications, culminating in a well-rounded noble's education, befitting of the political maneuverer. On September 6th 2439, Ranza was attending a Sinta History lecture, when it was interrupted by news that the Traditionalists had dropped an atomic bomb onto an Izweski city. When the bombing ceased, Ranza joined the rest of Moghes in shock at atomic fire they had brought upon their homeworld. As the University of S'th was in a safe position for the remainder of the war, classes would continue per usual, and Ranza knew that in order to best support her clan, she would need to finish her studies. During this time, she kept close contact with her clan, and Lady Akaleis especially, hoping to make as quick a return as possible. By 2443, Ranza's studies would be complete, and she arrived back to Razir, a home that would never feel quite the same after the horrors of the Contact War. As the Contact War began to slow down, and an Izweski victory seemed all but assured with the surrender of the Tza Kingdom, Ranza found herself comfortable in a position of newfound influence within her clan, becoming a representative and legal counsel for the Akaleis clan, and a noble lady attempting to expand her connections throughout the Razir. For the next few decades, the Akaleis clan would continue to exist in Razir with some minor changes. The timely death of Lord Akaleis allowed Lady Akaleis to step out of the spotlight and enjoy her elder years, while Ranza's eldest sibling, a fisher seeking to increase the influence of their clan in the industries of Razir, would become the new Lord Akaleis. Ranza's second eldest brother by this time already a Battle-leader within Clan Sarnac's forces, resulting in Ranza becoming cemented as one of the most important Sinta in her clan. However, the oncoming years would not be so fortunate to the Akaleis Clan... The full ugly weight of the Phoron Scarcity and all that came with it would be felt by Ranza and her clan. The slowing of trade and the food shortages led to the Akaleis, along with many of their fellows not just in the Southlands but across the Hegemony, to struggle to retain their power. As the crisis evolved into the bankruptcy of the Merchant's Guild and the riots that would grip the Southlands, Clan Akaleis could feel the situation rapidly warming to the breaking point. After a year of struggle and famine, the Akaleis had lost a sizeable amount of assets and influence within Razir, and Ranza knew well that her clan would need to adapt, or become lost to history. In an effort to resecure any amount of influence, Ranza looked towards the example of their liege-lords the Sarnac clan, and Seleta Sarnac, the Higher Speaker of the Hegemony in particular. Leaving the majority of her duties in Razir to a close cousin, Ranza sought out a position befitting her skills, a Consul of the Hegemony, representing it's interests across the stars. As a noble lady slowly approaching her forty-fifth year, her experience in the diplomatic arts was an easy assurance to be accepted, and she made no delay in settling into her new position. For the past year, Lady Ranza has done well in her consulate posting, being sent to the Izweski embassy on Biesel for a short while, and now receiving news that she is to be returned to Uueoa-Esa, though not quite in the way she expected. The tensions that remain high in her home of the Southlands still trouble Ranza greatly, and she keeps a close eye on developments in the region, more specifically in Razir. However, a position in the Izweski consulate on the SCCV Horizon is a blessing from the Great Spirit, and the invaluable experience it offers will Ranza further opportunities to continue wishes of the elderly Lady Akaleis: ensuring the legacy of Clan Akaleis remains secure. The Titan Rises - The Hephaestus bail-out has proved a great boon to Ranza and her clan, being responsible for saving the economy of the Hegemony, these events greatly impacted her. When Clan Akaleis was on the edge of poverty and collapse due to the Phoron Scarcity and the failings of the Guilds, her view on alien megacorporations as cautious forces to collaborate with when necessary completely changed to the megacorporations, mainly Hephaestus, being integral to the Hegemony's integration to the Orion Spur as a whole. The Sk'akh Restoration - Ranza remains a devout follower of Sk'akh as she was since hatching, and although she denounces the extreme actions of the Maraziite Order during the Iron Crusades, has remained steadfast in her faith. The payout to the Akhanzi Shamans is viewed by her as a necessary action to repair the rift created between Sk'akh and Th'akh due to the actions of the former High Priest Unzi, and while she believes herself that the modern Sk'akh Church did not have any hand in the Iron Crusades, it was the correct political move to make. The ascension of the diplomatic Archpriest Korza Azandar to the office of High Priest was received positively by Ranza, happy to see the Southlander who holds agreeable views on spirituality to herself, however she remains against the idea of any reformation of the Maraziites. The surprising appointment of an Archpriest belonging to the Aspect of the Healer was yet another surprise, and the balance it shall bring is looked forward to by Ranza. The Rise of Si'akh - Seeing the influx of Si'akh refugees plague the Southlands, Ranza is fearful of the consequences the ever-growing faith will provide for all Sinta. As a consul working in the Republic of Biesel, she also saw the great lengths that the Si'akh heresy was able to spread when left untreated, much like the Aut'akh formed on Ouerea. How does your character view the megacorporation they work for? As Ranza is employed by the Izweski Hegemony, I will offer her views on the Hegemony, but also on Hephaestus Industries, due to the important part it plays in the Hegemony's economy. From a young age, Ranza has been a fierce defender of the Izweski Hegemony, the bastion of Sinta technological and societal innovation. Having lived through the Contact War within Izweski territory, she vehemently believes that their victory over the Traditionalist Coalition was a pyrrhic victory for the future of her species, and is consistently vocal about how the Traditionalists would force such a tragedy upon the Sinta before bowing under rightful Izweski rule. As a consular officer of the Hegemony, her public views will always parrot that of her nation's official stance delivered by High Speaker Seleta Sarnac, a lady that Ranza greatly admires. As stated in some detail earlier, Ranza views Hephaestus Industries, a so-called 'alien' megacorporation with such a high number of Sinta employed with great reverence, now being responsible for the entirety of the Hegemony's economy, the position of the megacorporation is to be forever intertwined with that of the Izweski Nation. The protection Hephaestus offers Moghes and it's colonies, both in terms of economic and political leverage, is an invaluable deterrent against their expansionist Dominian neighbours.

Zhuyix views Xeru as an integral asset of the Zkaii brood, and as it is an incredibly devoted follower of the Mother Dream, she holds a general liking to it. Although she may know herself as superior to it still, being a Gyne herself and Xeru being one of the brood Xakatlan, she sees it's mastery over the Aether as a useful gift that demonstrates a closeness to Mother K'lax, an impressive feat for a Warrior with a background of little renown. With all that being said, she recognises that the Exemplar has little influence outside of the Ny'tatyk, however she knows it's faith to the Mother Dream makes up for any shortcoming.

One paragraph minimum per question. Why do you wish to play this species?: For the sheer amount of historical background and lore present within the Vaurca species, it is woefully underplayed and I believe anyone who hasn't engaged with this species is missing out on some of the best written content on Aurora, though I do have my own personal reasons as to why I chose Vaurca as my first species to apply for. At the risk of repeating myself, the deep history and culture of the Vaurca caught my eye on first sight, and I read through nearly every page within a few hours. This helps to compliment the juxtaposition of the mythological beginnings of the Vaurca species, to the diminished position they exist in now, which is a dynamic I would greatly enjoy exploring further. What makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a human?: The difference between Humans and Vaurcae couldn't be more pronounced, from the way they are created, to the way they live, and the way they die. The eusocial engineering of Vaurca society is incredibly unique from the more 'human' cultures of the Skrell, Unathi and Tajara; particularly obvious when Vaurcae struggle (or thrive depending on the Hive and brood) to integrate with their host nations. On a mechanical level, the differences require Vaurca players to approach the way they play in a very different manner than they usually would, from only breathing from internal phoron tanks and consuming k'ois, to using the Hivenet to represent the eusocial nature of the Vaurca. ------------------------------ Character Application Character Name: Ta'Akaix'Zhuyix'kiux'yit K'lax Write a backstory for your character. This may include their origin, education, personality and how they arrived to the SCCV Horizon. Ta'Akaix'Zhuyix'kiux'yit K'lax was hatched a Type CB Breeder, or Gyne, shortly after the Exodus to the brood of Ta’Akaix’Zkaii’xay’yil K’lax during the Vaurcresian search for a new home. During her formative years, Zhuyix was educated by her elder Sisters on the intricacies of Vaurcresian society, culture, history and the byzantine social network expected of a Ta. Growing during the inception of the Mother Dream religion, Zhuyix clutched onto this belief as her brood and Queen would, and would seek to nurture it during her time in the Ny'tatyk (Mother Dream in basic, what the Zkaii brood call Virtual Reality). In March of 2459, the K'lax Hiveship would finally arrive in Uueoa-Esa, and soon after would become vassals of the Izweski Hegemony. A few years later, with the K'lax being granted the planet of Tret and it's surrounding satellite objects, it was Queen Zkaii who would not only hold the position of Overlord of Tret, cementing the K'lax position within the Hegemony's feudal structure, she would also be elected High Queen of Hive K'lax. With Zkaii and her brood becoming the face of the Hive in their early representation, Zhuyix along with a number of her Sisters, would take a unique interest in the Unathi and be some of the first to represent the K'lax Hive and the Zkaii brood to the Hegemony. Now a Ta with thousands of years of training and experience, Zhuyix secured a position as one of the skilled Diplomats of the K'lax Hive. Following the somewhat controversial decision allowing K'lax Diplomats to serve as auxiliary consulars to their Unathi counterparts, allowing them to fulfill limited consular duties for Hegemony citizens, Zhuyix would be granted clearance to join the Hegemony's diplomatic mission in the Republic of Biesel, representing the K'laxan Vaurca working for Hephaestus in the Republic, along with a small group of her Sisters. In early 2466, following the arrival of the SCCV Horizon in Tau Ceti's gravity well, Zhuyix was informed that she would be transferred aboard to bolster the small consulate maintained jointly by the Izweski Hegemony and Hive K'lax. Seeing this as a great opportunity to further her own influence, and that of Hive K'lax in the name of the Mother and the High Queen, she accepted this with great enthusiasm. Zhuyix enjoys her time studying Vaurcresian history and spirituality, with a focus on the Mother Dream and the K'lax more specifically, and she has created many great pieces of information on the topic in Virtual Reality. As is becoming more popular with the K'lax, Zhuyix has taken a keen interest in Unathi media, to better suit her technical position as a noble lady; she enjoys reading a massive variety of Moghresian literature and keeps a printed collection with her wherever she travels. She has recently begun learning the Unathi game of Conquest, and aims to become a master at the game, after all it could be a valuable commonality between her and an unassuming Hegemony lord, facilitating the growth of her vast social network into the K'lax's new home. Hephaestus Monopoly over the Hegemony Economy - Before the Phoron Scarcity and the great Hephaestus buy-out and monopoly of the Hegemony economy as a whole, the K'lax had arrived only under a decade earlier. Following these large-scale reforms, the K'lax Hive were not left forgotten, and the cooperation between these two entities has reaped great benefits for the Hive. Zhuyix recognises Hephaestus' contributions to saving the K'lax's lieges from collapse, and helping them secure a place in the wider Spur. Phoron Scarcity - As a Vaurca and a citizen of the Hegemony, Zhuyix is greatly worried about the precarious position her people hold. Spending a majority of her years during the Two-Thousand Year Gap, her experiences of the wonders of Pre-Exodus Vaurca civilisation were experienced through Virtual Reality, and she could not imagine the Vaurca having to return to such dire times again. War in Heaven and the K'lax-Tupii brood- Zhuyix views Tupii's blatant upstaging of High Queen Zkaii towards herself and denial of the Mother Dream in a Caprice Sun interview as a deeply offensive action that would only bring misfortune onto the Hive. As a Zkaii Ta, she finds herself firmly in the Pious Integrationism camp that the conflict has created. While as a Diplomat Ta, the conflict is not as close to her personally as it is to many of her Sisters, and it has become important to maintain the face of the K'lax Hive abroad, or more importantly of the Zkaii brood. How does your character view the megacorporation they work for? Due to the unique position Zhuyix is in, I will be talking about her relations and views of the K'lax Hive and Izweski Hegemony, which she represents as a consular officer, and Hephaestus because of it's monopoly influence in the Hegemony. The K'lax Hive - As a Diplomat Ta of Zkaii's brood, Zhuyix holds a fervent loyalty to Mother K'lax and her High Queen. As a follower of the Mother Dream, she believes that serving the Hive usefully is the ultimate goal in her simulated existence in order to properly ascend to a higher plane, and it is therefore her view that there is nothing more important than the success of the Hive, by any means necessary. Zhuyix considers herself an expert theologian of the Mother Dream, and she has had experience supporting the spiritual welfare of the Zkaii K'lax abroad of which she has represented. Izweski Hegemony - Zhuyix believes it was by Mother K'lax's divine mandate that the K'lax join the Hegemony. Her views on the Hegemony and the Unathi are therefore highly positive, and as a consular representing them both, she has gone to great strides to learn about Unathi culture and history. The recent Sk'akh-Mother Dream syncretism has also made Zhuyix curious about Unathi religions, and she has devoted time (and Viax assistants) to make it a pursuable hobby. Hephaestus Industries & Human Megacorporations - As stated earlier in how recent events have affected Zhuyix, she holds a great appreciation for Hephaestus, as they saved the Hegemony in a dire time, and have secured many in the K'lax Hive a way of life (and further profits for the Hive). As a whole, Zhuyix believes the hierarchy and collective goal of profit of the megacorporations is efficient and cheap, although they lack the artisanal prowess of K'laxan engineering.

accepted hazelmouse - Command Application

From the few rounds I've seen, Jackdaw is very well played and good at taking charge with a great amount of communication. +1 -
To respond to the complaint as a whole, I wasn't entirely aware you were new because you chose the Engineer role (instead of that of an apprentice) and seemed confident in your ability to set up power. Due to how low staffed the department was, I was occupied in making sure Atmospherics was being set up, and I add that an Engineering cyborg arrived while I was doing atmos (that wouldn't have been relevant to your job as an engineer), so I offered that they could show you how to do the INDRA setup since you asked, though you denied (which is understandable, as you said you have explained you weren't enjoying the round in your complaint). On the topic of in-character attitude, I believe your character's suggestions on my character's teaching would have been better suited to OOC, where you could have explained that you hadn't played for ages, but saying this in-character came off as someone trying to tell their superior on how to do their job, which would be completely fine and appreciated feedback if you said it in an OOC setting, but it isn't an excuse for myself. As someone with a trial Command WL, I should have approached you myself and asked if you were new/need help in LOOC, instead of responding entirely as my character would. As a HOS, I generally like to be hands off with my non-intern staff, though I definitely could have engaged with your engineering questions better, and should hopefully get better at recognising a new player. Three consecutive rounds as a Head could have contributed to my poorer attitude, and I didn't really receive any negative feedback for my previous gameplay, though it isn't an excuse either for me to have made someone's round less enjoyable. Given this was my first day on trial, I will use the rest of it to take this as a lesson and improve upon my Commandery. I would be happy to see you in many more rounds (maybe as an apprentice), so I can help you learn more about the best department on the server. To wrap my response up, I want to apologise for making your time on the server less enjoyable, and I hope that you will see me as a better HOS in future. (As an aside I realised after writing this, I take responsibility for not telling you the tighter restrictions on inter-departmental knowledge, my bad)

BYOND key: not-a-gonk Discord Username: anthony.albanese Character names: Marielle Caladius - Priestess Sinawo Malema - Engineer Ananya Saikumar - Surgeon Elisa Leung - First Responder Eino Kiiskinen - Shaft Miner Doreen Cullen - Atmospheric Technician Margrethe Gratzik - Investigator Marcelo Sampaio - Pharmacist How long have you been playing on Aurora? First started playing on and off in 2021, started playing super consistently start of September 2023 Have you received any administrative actions? And how serious were they? Received 3-4 warnings throughout entire playtime. Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph each. What do you think the OOC purpose of a Head of Staff is, in game? The purpose of a Head of Staff is to balance delegation, guidance and teaching for their own department, and even the entire ship. These three concepts of Command mean any Head of Staff must be able to delegate tasks to their staff, guide them to ensure communication and organisation, and teach members of their department on how to better do their job, or play on the server as a whole. When a Command member is not present, inter-departmental communication is very often limited, and this can be a severe hindrance to the crew. The presence of a Head of Staff also greatly affects antagonist rounds, and the Head of Staff must carefully balance the interests of the crew and the antagonists so the round progresses in a way that everyone enjoys. This can be done by encouraging interaction with the antagonists directly, as Command staff act in a similar capacity by deciding the pacing of a round, and giving things for the crew to do. What do you think the OOC responsibilities of Whitelisted players are to other players, and how would you strive to uphold them? A Head of Staff has a great deal of responsibility in the events of a round, and how enjoyable that round is. They are responsible for ensuring that the round remains as enjoyable as possible, and are therefore held to a higher standard than the rest of the crew. While a Command member should also have good general knowledge on their department, especially dependant on whatever their job background is, their most important skill should be leadership and team communication. Explain how the recent events in the Spur changed your character and how they came to be employed on the SCCV Horizon. Born in 2425 as the second eldest child to a wealthy (and definitely corrupt) local government official in the city of Nhom Hy Vong, Nguyễn Kim Hong had a privileged upbringing which affected her view on the wider Spur, and continues to influence her to this day. A competent engineer in her own right, combined with using her familial connections, Hong secured a scholarship at the Atmospheric Learning Institute of Kho Nang. By the age of 23, Hong completed her internship and was hired as a lower level factory supervisor, and she would continue to advance the corporate ladder with uneventful ease, until the arrival of a day that would be forever remembered in New Hai Phongese history. On the 19th of October, 2460, New Hai Phong was hit with military-grade explosives planted by the Tajaran Revolutionary Army in the largest terrorist attack in NHP's history. These events cemented a xenophobic view of Tajara in Hong's mind, which has calmed to a mild distrust at worst in recent years. During this time, she also managed to secure the position of Chief of Engineering for one of the Hephaestus' many Orbital Superfactories in New Hai Phong's orbit. In the year 2465, Hong was offered an opportunity as the Chief Engineer of the SCCV Horizon for her decades of service. Viewing this as a 'vacation posting', she readily accepted the position, figuring such a public station could offer further networking opportunities to come. What roles do you plan on playing after the application is accepted? I mainly want to play Chief Engineer, Executive Officer, and Consul/CorpRep Have you familiarized yourself with the wiki pages for the command roles? Yes.. Characters you intend to use for command or have created for command. Include the job they will be taking: Nguyễn Kim Hong (Hong Nguyen) - Hephaestus Chief Engineer Marielle Caladius - Dominian Consulate (possibly) Heledd Gwynfor - Coalition (Galatean) Consulate Sinawo Malema - Zavodskoi Corporate Representative Do you understand your whitelist is not permanent, and may be stripped following continuous administrative action? Yes.. Have you linked your BYOND account to the Forums? Yes.. Extra notes: Recently my internet has been cutting out very occasionally, but hopefully won't affect the trial.
