  1. I have brushed up against a few of Owen's characters, including Silvia (I think) and Zavi, and have enjoyed the little that I have actually interacted with them. OOCly, I've seen Owen role-playing a few times now and feel that, in addition to his OOC attitude, I enjoy having his characters around because they feel both competent and deep enough to be realistic crew members. Due to my lack of in-depth interaction with his characters, however, I will be using the content of his application for the majority of my opinions. First off, I like that he's willing to get in on the controversy surrounding the unathi people right now. That's fun and interesting. Despite the rushed nature of the "different than humans" section, I also feel like he has a handle on the general differences between unathi and human culture. The biography is detailed, as well as the security records and general background information. I am wary of how this character's past military experiences are planned to affect his current workplace interactions, but feel like you have enough experience with role-playing to be able to do something interesting and fun with the idea. All things considered, I hope that you'll be able to provide the station with detailed and character-driven Unathi crewmembers, so I'm giving my approval.
  2. Reporting Personnel: Morgan Renalt Rank of Reporting Personnel: Surgeon Personnel Involved: Chemist Sean Cromwell Time of Incident: Real time: ~2 PM CST Location of Incident: Medical Bay Nature of Incident: []Workplace Hazard []Accident/Injury []Destruction of Property [x]Neglect of Duty []Harassment []Assault []Misconduct []Other _____ Overview of the Incident: At the beginning of the shift, I began my usual routine of preparing medbay for the shift. Over the comms system, Dr. Cromwell began talking about using unstable mutagen to attempt to grow his hair. As he had already administered the treatment, I left it alone. However, soon after, I noticed that he was neglecting his duties in order to continue experimenting on his hair. I informed him that we should have a stock of alkysine, and a beaker of either cryoxadone or cloneoxadone. He agreed and went silent for a brief period, before he informing me, using coarse language, that it was too hard. I explained that it was his job, but he continued to ignore me. Later in the shift, I noticed that he had begun vomiting after administering more radium to himself. I treated him for radiation injuries, but he continued to neglect his duty and experiment with radiation therapy. Finally, after a few reminders and gentle prods, he made a beaker of a liquid that may or may not have been alkysine, as it was not labelled, and brought it to me rather than putting it in the refrigerated storage unit. I deposited it safely, where it was left unlabeled for the remainder of the shift. In addition, he continued to experiment with radiation therapy and make messes all over his lab and the staff bar. At my last check, he had still managed to not synthesize a properly labeled, beneficial compound, while simultaneously managing to clear out the majority of the reserve medicines in the medicine storage room. He did eventually give up his attempts at radiation therapy, and began acting in a civil manner, but he was profoundly unhelpful for the entire shift. Very unprofessional. Did you report it to a Head of Staff or IAA? If so, who?: None were available at the time of the incidents. Additional notes:

    CPR change

I agree with Kon. My faith in this suggestion has been swayed after the introduction of role-based skill level and further consideration of how much extra work it would be. Some rounds, fixing some bones is trivial, while it can be more troublesome in others. I wouldn't really mind forcing people to stand still to perform CPR, though, even if that little bit sometimes does save a life.
  4. I'm alright with well-played specieism, although I personally never play characters that way. I agree with Meow and think Dumpliz has a decent example of how low-key prejudice works.
  5. I can dig it. In practice, Ames is an entertaining character.
  6. I've seen him here and there. He seems to be an enjoyable and irreverent addition to the general crew, which is a fine balance. He and Bucket will probably get along.
  7. I'm going to start by saying, as I all too often do, that I don't really have enough IC interaction with your characters listed here. However, I believe I have interacted with you IC while in antag roles? Anyway, this application itself warranted my attention. I like your style when it comes to the definition of role-playing and the OOC purpose of heads of staff. I often feel like just talking to another player's character for a significant amount of time alters their perception of the station as a whole, and almost always find myself looking for a head of staff whenever someone is acting strangely or being suspicious. As for the biography that you have provided, I feel that it indicates that you have a strong grasp on role-playing and story building. Julia feels like a well-developed character and I can easily imagine both her high and low points in a prospective career. Good luck with your application. You have my personal approval.
  8. Damn, I didn't realize that this didn't have any replies. I haven't had as much IC interaction with your characters as I would like, but I do like Tlexa when I see them around, and think that it seems like a competently done vaurca. In your application, you have very fluidly expressed your desires to subvert the Unathi traditions while simultaneously indicating that you are aware of what they are (at least, mostly) instead of just being lazy. Your biography is enjoyable and well-made as well, so I'd like to see this character on the station. She reminds me of my own past Unathi characters, so I can appreciate the style that you're going for. You've got my approval, for what it's worth.
  9. You know us too well. I am offended though, because I identify as a cargo helicopter.
  10. I'm down for approaching baldies more often, even though they do still scare me almost 100% of the time. I have tried it in the past, and sometimes, they'll even talk back to you just to get your guard down before they continue on with whatever nefarious business they had planned. It'd be interesting to see and might make the server more accessible to new role-players. I dunno.
  11. I'd believe it. It was fairly late for me as well.

    CPR change

Skill integration does seem difficult to implement and easy to game. I was just saying that it would be cool. I guess I'd be alright with just the broken ribs, even though medical sometimes already has enough on their plate.
  13. I like the application system that is in place here. It's not a popularity contest, like Owen has said. If people are able to see you RP and play well, then they'll be willing to come here and give you their +1. I haven't seen your characters IC, and don't appreciate your attitude either, but the content of your application leads me to believe that it's worth giving you a shot at being whitelisted. You seem to understand what makes IPCs unique and interesting, and how to portray those facets of an IPC character, and you were able to spin out a well fleshed-out character in a short amount of time. You've got my support. Don't make me look like an ass, please.

    CPR change

Indeed. Sounds like a good idea to me. My only concern after that would be the fact that broken ribs can sometimes cause infections when severely agitated, like all broken bones, but that's a bridge to cross when the medic comes to it.

    CPR change

I'd be alright with this, but agree that it shouldn't just be "successful CPR requires shattering every rib!" chucklefuckery. It is a danger that comes with successful CPR, but not a guaranteed byproduct. It'd be cool to have it somehow attached to medical skill.
  16. I think I agree with Fire and Glory. It doesn't feel like I play with him often, but I think he's actually a fellow surgeon quite often and I just don't realize it because he is off quietly being competent or doing whatever he does.
  17. I'm okay with this. I don't have any characters with crazy kawaii floor-length hair.
  18. Although I've had very limited actual interaction with any of your characters, your OOC understanding of role-playing and the structural importance of the head positions, as well as your biography for Mr. Quinn give me hope that you will prove to be a successful head of staff player. I believe that Loow has already concisely described the positives of Quinn's biography, and I can add very little in that regard. I agree that Quinn feels deeply planned enough that his social skills are not lacking because of any angsty nonsense, but because it is simply not an area that he is well suited to as a person. In addition, I think that being the CE could provide room for character development in that area, which I find exciting. Although he may never become a charming and socially expert individual, taking on leadership could give him an opportunity to focus on the social aspects of his employment, such as maintaining communication with the other heads of staff and providing social support for his subordinates. However, these are just general ideas that reading over the biography gave me, so feel free to make your characters how you like. Ultimately, I don't have much say in this matter, but I believe that Enzayne is capable of playing in a head of staff position.
  19. As a regular medical player, I must admit that CMO apps make me anxious. I can agree with your understanding of the OOC responsibilities of the CMO position, but I also feel like a CMO of this type should be more in touch with his employees and encouraging as a leader. I haven't really interacted with Kravec very much, but it does seem like he does do a competent job of keeping the medbay held together. If my opinion were to be considered, I feel that Andrew Kravec should be given a chance to act as CMO in order to test his abilities more thoroughly. I did finally play a round alongside Andrew Kravec, with fairly consistent exposure to the character. Although I feel like he is too blunt, the fact that Pingvinator doesn't speak English primarily may or may not excuse that. When it comes to actually getting work done and providing structure to the medbay, he does seem invested in seeing the medical staff being organized and effective. I am wary, but stand by my statement that he may still be a good head of staff player.

    Map talk

I don't mind the current maintenance tunnels, but that's because I often try to tidy them up as janitor, and a janicart or mop bucket prevents you from backtracking easily. I feel like they're dim and dreary enough. However, I can see the argument against the cameras, even though it's literally the security cameras' job to find antags or fugitives. I'm conflicted about it, really. For the morgue and autopsy tables and all of that, I don't really have much input. I used to play an older surgeon who was capable of both medical and forensic autopsies, but I don't anymore and I wouldn't mind making it easier for a competent CSI to be able to work in a closed environment that they felt comfortable in. I do think, however, that there may need to be some proviso that they are only allowed to work on corpses who have either been cloned or at least scanned and been documented as having an MIF. Now on to my own suggestion. I'd like for the operating theatre to have at least one advanced scanner. It's difficult to quickly scan a surgery patient either during or after surgery, at times, and certain circumstances make it hard to rely on static data for their injuries. Things like high toxins and infections can cause additional organ damage, either in organs which have already been treated or in completely new organs, which isn't often indicated on a handheld scanner.

    Gateway Despawn

I'd like to throw in my two cents and say that I really enjoy the gateway. I always use it for my characters who come from Mars, for some reason. Likely something to do with old head canon. As for the suggestion to make it possible to evacuate or do something similar to cryo through the gateway, I'd really enjoy that as an option and feel that the suggestion to only make it possible during code green or to enforce a cooldown on its operation sound like ways to make it both mechanically plausible and lore-friendly. I think it could explained away as something to do with heat build-up or excessive power usage that isn't feasible during heightened alert situations.
  22. I also enjoy the lore surrounding the techno-ants, so your interest in that aspect of the race resonates with me. I'm more interested in the unbound vaurca as well, so I'm down for more of them being around. As for your personal ability, I think that you are a very competent, if not good, role-player from what I've seen. I've interacted with Pakseech a handful of times, including after Loow's suggestions, and think that he is well-played. I always enjoy seeing him around because he's interesting and I want to know more about him. Archon is as well done as AI get, too, I believe. Doesn't seem to be powergamey or detached from the station experience, although I don't often interact with AIs. Tich, your Vox character, was active in one of my favorite rounds. He interacted with the crew in a believably rational manner, but still got what he came for and made it away with his loot. As I understand it, that's the goal of the Vox as a people, so you couldn't have done better. I apologize for not having much constructive criticism, but I've really not had the time with any of your characters to notice any particularly negative facets of their portrayal. I think you'll do fine with a vaurca.
