Shadow/Danlin's Skrell Application
ShadowVi replied to ShadowVi's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
Bumping and making an important point. Seems a lot of people don't remember me from last year so I don't have a massive load of people in my corner on this. However I don't mind if that allows it to be denied or whatever since I really understand the importance of keeping fuckwits out of whitelisted positions for lore sake. Also. On anther note I've been really bored in Uni lately so I've been experimenting with talking without teeth. It's been entertaining and I found out 'Th' would be more like a laboured h but I am now looked at weirdly -
BYOND Key: TheOverShadow Character Names: Kai Danlin - Head of Security/Detective Doctor Johnathon Grayle - Research Director/Xenobiologist Emma Jarvis - Shaft Miner John Viess - Pharmacist Nick Ward - Head of Personnel Michael Clark - EMT Quinn Dunbar - Cargo Technician Species you are applying to play: Skrell. Specifically a Snow Skrell What color do you plan on making your first alien character (Dionaea & IPCs exempt): White Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: I have. Wiki's pretty sexy now by the way Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question Why do you wish to play this specific race: They seem like the most interesting of the other alien races for me at the moment. Not really that interested in Unathi or Tajaran character right now but a Skrell one seems like they could quite an interesting Roleplay experience in comparison to my Human ones at the moment. Also they seem to have less of presence at the times that I've been playing than the likes of the Tajaran and Unathi, so I'd like to play them for that reason. Also in specifically, I'm liking the thought of family & tradition being a very important part of my particular Race of Skrell's cultural background to help with the roleplay elements. Also, the outlook of Unathi to my particular race of Skrell and my outlook of them sounds VERY interesting. Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: Well obviously there's the physical element of being a different Species. Way they experience different things will be different, they have extra parts or are missing certain ones. It keeps a distinct difference in how you play the character compared to a human as you'll always have to keep in mind of these differences when in comparison to my own body. Secondly, culturally Skrell will have a different outlook. Different upbringing, different language and method of communication between races and how emotionally you interact with others. Also, you're not the majority. You're surrounded by foreign creatures on all fronts, so it's probably daunting even to them that there's so little of what's normal for them. Character Name: Yaniu Ipeash Please provide a short backstory for this character, approximately 2 paragraphs Yaniu was born on Aliose in a group of 17. Born into the Unathi herding lifestyle she developed an attitude that would follow her through life about the creatures, that they were base creatures without the right to the privileges they'd been given by the other races of Skrell and Humanity, however she would not always directly lobby for a change in their attitudes. However she grew to find a great interest in the use of technology and it's maintenance. The ability to take apart and reassemble tech would fascinate her and she would love that no matter how many times she did it, there was always new challenges to face in every action. It seemed to be her calling and as she grew Yaniu decided that to further her knowledge she would travel to the Skrell Homeworld of Qerrbalak with two of her siblings. On Qerrbalak she managed to make contact with a Nanotrasen Representative. After discussing her prospective career, she signed a contract. Going to work with the minds of Nanotrasen's best was exactly what she felt was needed. Working on the NCV Tesla she managed to figure out a lot about the medical field's machines, and developed an attachment to the Medical department's machines on a level of fixing them. However the ship eventually became too much. It was a an in and out situation that never sat well with her, she needed somewhere for traditions to be set down with a familiar space around it. So placed a transfer order in, hoping to be moved to somewhere a little more stable What do you like about this character? I like that she's got a few flaws of her own with the Unathi, and emotionally being isolated away from her family & species. But she comes into her won around machines and fixing them and taking care of them. And I like that kinda feel to it, How would you rate your role-playing ability? I'm not bad. I've been roleplaying for a while, about 9 years give or take. Played on a bunch of SS13 servers although this is the only real Heavy Roleplay one I've ever cared for. I don't like to rate it, as I'd rather hear other people's opinions on how I play. Notes: I know I have a lot of characters, but I do play them all for different situations and enjoy mixing it all up. I hope the addition of another race character will help that kinda feel aswell

I like the app, and I know enough from being in the server and word of mouth to know you're good +1 -
BYOND key: TheOverShadowed Character names: Kai Danlin, Johnathon Grayle, Emma Jarvis, John Viess, N.A.I.T.E How long have you been playing on Aurora?: Around maybe a month. Why do you wish to be on the whitelist?: Because if you're lucky there will be 2 Heads of Staff. Normally either the HoP, HoS or Captain, and rarely anything else. I'd like to be able to help with the issues associated with this Why did you come to Aurora?: Found it on the hub. Yes, I'm a hub player. Saw it as heavy roleplay and coming from heavy roleplay on G-Mod and from games of D&D was pretty damn interested. Have you read the BS12 wiki on the head roles you plan on playing?: I have and played the basics of the departments quite extensively too. Any other department heads I might wish to play I'll get to know the systems before applying. In the case of HoP/ Captain, I'll get to know the server a little better and get more incite on the other heads duties too. Give a definition of what you think roleplay is, and should be about: Roleplay is placing yourself in a situation, and thinking like someone in that situation. That doesn't just mean the current, but the life experiences and personality situation of the character you are playing too. Your characters will obviously have similar traits, but at the same time have different knowledge, experience and way of doing things than each others. It should be about playing in situations you can't do in real life, while also helping others find that situation too. It also should be about going though things differently than maybe how you personally would handle them, but how your Character would handle them. What do you think the OOC purpose of a Head of Staff is, ingame?: It is to enable a higher level of roleplay within your department, and if possible the station's population at large. It's to help with the running of the IC situation as well and helping out maybe with more OOC problems like learning the ropes of roles. What do you think the OOC responsibilities of Whitelisted players are to other players, and how would you strive to uphold them?: To make sure you know your role in the department. If it's to be hands on like a HoS or to sit back and supervise like the CE then you follow those ropes to help further the roleplay. It's also to have an at least moderate understanding of the department's whole infrastructure and jobs so you can either help with or do whatever is needed. Basically, I'd strive to do this by only being heads of departments I know well, and knowing when someone is more suited to the job. Also, to make sure that I'm on when I can be with those head characters. Only exception to this would be is if I'm really not in the mood to play a certain department, and then I'd be a hindrance, more than an asset to the enjoyment of others Character name: Johnathon Grayle Character age: 39 Please provide a short biography of this character: First noticed by Nanotrasen during his mid-20s, Johnathon Grayle was a honours biology student who had went on to study Xenobiology and attempt to gain a PHD in this field. His moderate knowledge in Physics helped him understand the concepts of different evolutionary paths and was noted by his superiors to sometimes look at things too much like a Physicist than a biologist, a trait he has a hard time supressing. After his postgraduate degree in Xenobiology, he decided to take a year to gain some experience. Taking an Internship with Nanotrasen, he worked as an assistant in the Xenobiology, Telescience and R&D labs. He assisted well in them, by collecting items and running the machines. In Xenobiology he was commended for his assistance. He applied to do a Nanotrasen PHD with the guarantee of a job within Research upon completion, which after another year of internship he was accepted for. His thesis that gained him his Doctorate was about the biology of space carp, and different uses within the scientific community. His theory was that Space Carp that was domesticated could be used to sense out incoming schools. It was proven correct, but was considered to expensive to be used on most commercial vessels. However his skill was not dismissed, and was chosen as one of the Resident Xenobiologists on the NSS Aurora. He has been exposed to different fields in this time, learning small parts of the roles of Xenoarchaeology and Toxins with Aurora's Science division. What do you like about this character?: He's smart. I don't need to dumb down a lot of knowledge, he can know a few more things than normal and can pick up other things in a reasonably quick timeframe. He's also a nice guy who uses a lot of proper language with little slang. What do you dislike about this character?: He's caught up in his work, finds it difficult to actually make personal connects as he is rarely seen outside of his lab. Also, he's quite conservative. Swearing's a nono except in circumstances that it's a real expression of fear, anger or dispair. He's also quite open to other cultures due to his job, and my reasoning for not liking this as playing racist characters is something not done too often and when it is it's done badly so the ability to do it right is lost. Do you think this character is fit to be a Head of Staff?: Yes. Only a RD however. Why?: He's got (Limited) people skills enough to run a department, enough experience with science to be able to help people without getting too in-depth and taking over and the general authority he uses when working with other Xenobiologists to be effective in command situations. How would you rate your own roleplaying?: I'm good, but I have flaws. A lot of my slang comes though, and some choices I make can be instinctive to myself rather than my characters. However I can separate my characters attitudes, I pain-RP well, I fear-RP well and I have experience enough to realise when I've fucked up and I admit it when I do. Extra notes: Also, No Speshul-Snowflakes. They bad. Very, Very bad.

Played with Meow on most of his characters barr Trelin, who honestly in the grand scheme of things doesn't sound nearly as bad as some Agents end up being from even more experienced roleplayers. On the note of Kit, reasoning behind that character isn't too unbelievable. Disable employees are a big PR boost for Nanotrasen, so why not employ someone who's good at their job & has that nice non-discrimitory reputation attached to it. Anyways. Good guy. Good roleplay. Good app. Good +1

+1 for RAVE! Not too bad and kinda cool
-
Kit's a good character and a personalised binder and pen sound like a really cool & logical thing for her to start with

Kit's a great character, and this isn't too much of a stretch to think she'd have one. +1

Avery Dawkins is hands down one of the best characters in Aurora for me, and I've roleplayed enough to know he can easily deal with the responsibilities of a Head. +1 -
