Regarding the Nuke Ops required amount of readied players

To clarify: I know this was posted recently, but it was locked shortly after for going off-topic. So please, try to keep things relevant to this specific subject.

As I said on the server, this is not that large of an issue. I certainly know it's only a minority of a few folks that dedicate themselves to the Extended gamemode (or just downright dislike the Nuclear gamemode); but something rather interesting happened not too long ago regarding the Nuclear gamemode and how many people are required to be ready in order to play said gamemode.

(This section of the thread is taken from another post made earlier, by myself. Although a few bits have been edited.) I came on today for something more than Extended (after learning the strings and most roles, this gamemode tends to get a bit old). We managed to get seven votes (certainly not the majority of the server, as there were more than thirty people on at the time, but we surpassed Extended in terms of actual votes) for a Nuclear round and most people were fine with it. The problem is that we had about thirteen players ready and with more than thirty people playing on the server. We waited more than two minutes and we only remained with thirteen people ready. (The timer counted down twice and still, and soon enough we were down to eleven people being ready!)

I am not pointing any fingers but a few people continued to chat in OOC and still did not ready up. I am not saying that we need to punish those or even enforce it (that would be idiotic), but possibly lower the amount of people required to start the round (if we have thirty people on the server, then I am sure we'll have more than enough to start the round). So when the staff team called for another vote, we tied for Nuclear and Extended. Extended, believe it or not, was picked between the two, and within the first few seconds, fifteen people were immediately ready. I left shortly after and I checked how many people were on the server after Extended was voted for and a few people left as well. Change it, don't change, I really think it's not that big of a deal, I'd just like to get some variation on the server. I just find it ridiculous that people manipulate the ready system so that we are forced to call for another vote. If you don't like the gamemode then just leave, or simply observe the match and busy yourself with something other than the game.

I said this once on the last thread, and Ill say it against since it seemed to be glossed over. This is not the problem with Nuke, people not readying, the problem is that nuke got voted in, and only seven people wanted to actually play nuke. Thats why I think we shouldn't lower or scale Nuke ops, we should change how the voting for it works, remove the need for past the post democracy. Make it so 15+ need to vote for nuke for it be put into place, and everyone would be happy. If 15 or more people want to play nuke, obviously they're going to ready and avoid the annoying revote periods.

And I'll say the issue with this is, the Server just doesn't have the population to get that amount of people voting for a single mode. You will almost never see 15 people voting for the same mode unless an admin told them "Event if X is voted", and that's usually extended. The more players around, the less players voting.

One solution might be having every 'Vote present' during the voting phase counted as them "vouching" for a ready-up. This way the less-than-thrilled extended players won't be able to block out the happy Nukies. On the downside, you might start with 12-13 people, but so what? People are still going to join post-roundstart anyways. No matter how much they moan about the mode, people always join.

A side-note for the people whom go "I don't want to ready up incase I don't get my favourite job", is the already present 'Return to lobby if preferences unavailable' setting. If you only want to play Nuke Op, you can set no job preferences but have Operative enabled and it will return you to the lobby if you don't get it (This allows for dedicated Nuke Op characters, keep in mind). If you only want a rare job such as HoS/Captain/CMO during Nuke, it will return you to the lobby if your job is unavailable and you can choose from there. Your 'Ready' still counts for the Nuke/Heist/Secret player count.
