DronzTheWolf Posted June 11, 2018 Posted June 11, 2018 I was thinking recently that there's not many good ways to hide, and that there's not too much incentive to play as Tajara other than speed and lore. I came to a conclusion: Allow Tajara to use the hide verb while resting. This can have many uses, both defensively and offensively. You can hide from an active shooter while under a table, or use it to stage an ambush in the dark. It'd be pretty simple, but unerringly powerful in a balanced way.

I don't see what other incentive you need. Tajaras have their lore. Mechanically are already pretty buffed. Speed. Night vision. Cold resist. Claws. This can have many uses, both defensively and offensively. You can hide from an active shooter while under a table, or use it to stage an ambush in the dark. It'd be pretty simple, but unerringly powerful in a balanced way. I'd say give this ability to EVERYONE, not just cats.

Cold resist. Claws. Night vision doesn't work (For me, at least) and the cold resist is pretty much useless. Claws and speed are the only real mechanical buff, and even then speed is arguable, since they take extra damage, and are especially susceptible to lasers.

Night vision DOES work for you, just not in the way that was probably intended. Unlike non-tajara, you can actually see in the dark, in as much as tiles in your light of sight never fail to display their contents, even if they are completely dark. Normally, in complete darkness, you can't right click on floor tiles out of your immediate vicinity, because they won't display their contents. I know it's not as helpful as it probably could be, but used carefully, it can be a powerful asset.
Trazz666 Posted June 14, 2018 Posted June 14, 2018 I like this idea. I like it enough that if implemented, I would make a tajaran whitelist That being said, I feel there needs to be some balancing. Now, tajaran's damage weakness is big enough of a nerf as is that not much else needs to be changed. However, I think the claws should be exchanged for hiding, either by a subspecies or option on character creation. That, and any hostile actions taken should un-hide you. That way, you still get the first strike (which if you're smart, is all you'll need), but doesn't make you invulnerable to the defenders panicked self defense clicking.
DronzTheWolf Posted June 14, 2018 Author Posted June 14, 2018 any hostile actions taken should un-hide you. That's why you have to be resting to hide, you can't use items while resting, so by standing up you'll be un-hidden for your ambush.
