NebulaFlare
I wanna bring Hawk back. For those of you guys that remember, he was one of the more snow-flaky characters to ever walk the station - in a time when EVERYONE was a damned special snowflake. So it didn't matter. But now it does. Oh. And he was 17. And illiterate. But won't be anymore. Now he's 19 and literate. Anyway. These are an example of Hawk's old records: Medical Under absolutely NO circumstances is Hawk Silverstone to be cloned or borged. In the result of death, his body is to be returned to Centcomm. He is implanted with a Loyalty chip, that may not be removed for any reason. Employment Trained under the Nanotransen military program Delta Forces. Knowledgeable with firearm, close combat, explosives handling, and space law. Can perform basic forensics. He is allowed to serve active duty as a security personnel aboard station. He is cleared for Warden reassignment. However, as a new recruit it is advised to keep him outside of the position of Head of Security, unless deemed absolutely necessary. Hawk Silverstone is functionally illiterate, and cannot read or write. He is implanted with a loyalty chip, which may not be removed. Security Member of the Delta Forces, currently in training for military operations. Hawk Silverstone is to be implanted with a loyalty chip at all times while in service to any and all Nanotransen stations. And this is the new backstory: http://aurorastation.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=71&t=1122 Sum it up, Hawk comes from a very wealthy family that are very proud, and pretty much military oriented. If you ever watched FMA, think of the Armstrong family. =WALL OF TEXT= Hawk's father, Jedrick Silverstone, married Claire Watson. But got divorced and lost custody of his daughter, Rose. After recovering from depression, he wanted a son, so he fathered a test-tube baby. He named him Hawk because he wanted his son to aspire to honor, pride, and tenacity, like the animal Hawk does. And it was special to Jedrick since it reminded him of times when he and his father would go hunting ferrets on the family estate with the pet hawks. So he named his son Hawk. Yep. Hawk grows up and lives a normal life of a rich kid. His uncle and family butler mostly raised him since his father is away working for NT. The uncle is a vet of the Sol Military. The uncle disciplines Hawk with a telebaton - hence Hawk's fear of their sound. Hawk graduates from highschool, graduates from cadet. His father mysteriously vanishes, and then is found dead. His father was tasked with the escort of transporting of some pretty valuable cargo. Syndicate want that cargo. They send two agents after Hawk to try and see if they can get any intel, which of course, Hawk knows nothing about. After Syndicate release Hawk back, he's accused of murder, and threatened to face execution or life imprisonment. Rose steps in and does her undercover-detective-work and finds out he's innocent, and he gets pardoned. Now Hawk and Rose finally meet each other, and are trying to get their life back on track. =END WALL OF TEXT= That sums it up. So.....what excuse can I use to keep Hawk's implant? Technically, he's manipulated by his family to join some proud rank in the NT escort, or get on-the-job training as a sec officer before they push him into the Sol Alliance military. I will admit that the implant is a little bit OP for a security officer. I've learned that implants can keep you safe from all forms of brainwashing - cult, probably vampire, and maybe RP rev. So there is a teeny bit of power-gaming there. Hawk sees NT unable to do any wrong, and all glory to Nanotrasen. I liked the implant because he projected that idea, while trying to ignore all the badness going around. It made do for some really interesting RP. He can't be forced to ignore everything without the chip. He preferred to sink in and let the chip take over. But on the other hand, 19 year old implanted officer. Ehm. Yeah. Quote Link to comment
TishinaStalker
Nineteen year old... Loyalty implanted... Officer... That was kidnapped by the Syndicate... With a mysteriously vanished, and found dead, father... And he somehow gets accused and almost successfully framed for murder... What. I'm sorry, with all due respect, but what. Edit: Lets not forget the fact that he was held by the Syndicate. In our rules, you should not have any knowledge of antags. Being kidnapped and held by the Syndicate is very clearly crossing the line you shouldn't cross in the first place. Then there's what Sue's saying below me. Quote Link to comment
Susan
How can you be illiterate and then acquire a law degree and a degree in criminal justice which require you to go to school...? How do you graduate high school without learning basic reading skills or ever having to apply them? I had to take tests. I had to read them and then write on them. What. At 18 he graduates high school and within a year he learns all this shit from, what, a year in the cadet program? A year in the army? Where did he learn the law? That isn't a degree you can earn in a short period of time. Not to mention in order to perform forensic duties he would need a degree in criminal justice and for that at minimum you need a bachelor's and a stint in a university. Quote Link to comment
NebulaFlare
XD Okay, maaaaybe I wasn't clear in my post. Those old records are VOID. Non-existant, gone, no more. They're not to be taken into account! I only posted those for comparison. The new background is what I'm using as canon. Quote Link to comment
TishinaStalker
Oh, okay. My brain was literally filled with insane levels of fuck because of that old backstory then, lmao. What exactly is the new one? The one you linked? Quote Link to comment

What exactly is the new one? The one you linked? Lol, XD yup. I'm hoping the link gives a brief enough summary of where he stands now. He's from a rich family, grew up in wealth, Silverstone family probably a semi-spotlight status in gossip, and most family members aim for prestigious titles - like his father was within the NT escort, uncle a veteran in the Sol military. He probably had private tutoring, and was pushed to join something equally prestigious. He's also semi-insecure. If anything, his sister Rose is a complete opposite of him. Hawk had everything handed over to him on a silver platter, and Rose had to fight and earn her way up the social ladder. Quote Link to comment
Frances
I never realized Hawk was 17. We once had a 17-year old, illiterate warden. lmao Anyway, my advice would be to not do the implant. I understand that's taking a pretty big step in a direction you're not used to with your specific character, but figure out some other sort of leverage people could have over him. That was the purpose of the implant, and a healthy, 100% RP replacement would prevent people from screaming snowflake or accusing you of powergaming (plus you won't be able to get the implant anyway, gameplay-wise). He spawns in with an implant. I don't know if he still does (I bet he does, just haven't had a reason to log in with him) but...yep. Loyalty implanter in his bag. Next to his beloved sniper gloves. And I just...have no idea what to use as a replacement. I will admit, playing with an implant was a teeny bit powergamey - he's immune to all forms of brainwashing. Cult is nullified, vampire (maybe, idk), RP-rev...ok. RP-rev can be ar-peed immunity. But he basically was NT's little loyalist. That's what I liked so much about him. Quote Link to comment
