Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question

Why do you wish to play this specific race: Because all the cool kids play Skrell Skrell have got a lore update recently, and I've really enjoyed reading through it. I find their cultural elements pretty interesting, and a really fun thing to play around with and to try and integrate into new characters. I also enjoy talking about scientific lore IC-ly, and the technologically advanced skrell seem to be an ideal race for that.

Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: While they seem to be moved by nothing except logical and rational decisions to a non-skrell observer, they actually are so extremely emotional that the level of emotional responses they are able to produce is next to impossible to be detected by anyone else. An average skrell is also more intelligent than a human and has a strong distaste of AIs (although non-sentient robots are okay). They are not as fluent in Ceti Basic as other species can be due to Ceti Basic not covering the nuances of their native language, Nral'Malic.

Character Name: Zixxrim Volquu

Please provide a short backstory for this character, approximately 2 paragraphs

Zixxrim was born into an extremely prestigious family of a senior Gliutip’lyaz lecturer father and an idolized politician mother. Being raised by such important people was both a blessing and a curse - while, of course, he has been living in luxury for his entire youth, as a son of an idol, he had essentially no choice but to become a prestigious scientist, no choice but to enroll in Gliutip'lyaz where his father worked, no choice but to be an ideal image of a Jargon citizen.

Fortunately, Zixxrim was proven to be anything but unfit for the high expectations set for him, and even embracing them - although he is not a genius by Gliutip'lyaz standards, he had worked extremely hard for many years to finish his degree with exceptional grades. This amount of hard work has had a strong effect on his character: he looks down upon anyone not as educated and smart as him as lazy, unproductive and largely useless members of society - he thinks that if he was able to work so hard, other can and must do so as well.

Graduated as a weapons researcher, NanoTrasen was quick enough to offer him a contract as a phoron researcher on the Aurora. His parents were debating whether or not they should let his son leave Jargon for quite some time, but in the end, they gave Zixxrim the green light to spread the Jargonian pride in Ceti space.

What do you like about this character?

To almost anyone, Zixxrim would come across as kind of a dick, looking down upon everyone, and especially the non-skrell. However, he has a good, completely justified reason to do so, and I think that this could cause some interesting interactions between him and others, especially other skrell. There is also an element of double subversion to him: while skrell usually subvert people's expectations of them to be rude and curt by actually displaying a wide array of emotion in Nral'Malic, Zixxrim actually often is as rude and arrogant in Nral'Malic as he is in Basic.

How would you rate your role-playing ability?

I'll just quote this from my command application:

I have around four years of RP experience. I believe that my strong suits are linking character traits to their backstories, roleplaying fear and being ready to handle whatever situation is thrown at me. Another one of my strengths is considering character disadvantages, weaknesses and flaws more fun to roleplay than positive and useful traits - I'm not the type of person to base characters entirely on their skills and good qualities, since that'd be very boring to play for me. My main weakness is maintaining consistency - sometimes I just don't feel inspired enough, and may make my characters act, although believable and not outright metagamey, not according to their personality. I am working as hard as I can to correct this. I am also somewhat prone to retconning my characters, but it isn't anything too major.
