Hi. Tired as of posting this, so, I'll make it brief. Don't like words right now.

In the next few months I'll be transitioning a bit. Into a new line of work, eh, technically speaking.

Right, whatever, I'll just say it. Around probably May 29th to about June 2nd I'll be heading to Basic Training for about two to three weeks, then get placed where I'm needed in the Army.

So, yeah. Just wanted to say in advance in case I leave suddenly, and as a bit of a warning if I don't come back, I enjoyed the times. The laughs, the fun times. The good. A bit of the naughty. Sometimes the times were hell, everyone was burning alive around me and I just said to myself, "I'm okay with this." But hey, we enjoyed sustaining third degree burns and reveling in the fact we survived that, right?

Right.

So. In advance, cya space cowboy. Sort of.

I'm signing up as a grunt rather than an officer.

Though, my recruiter stated that he could talk to some people to see if I could get something related to my desired MOS. I want to be a MP.

Ah sweet. Still 3 weeks seems short. XD UK enlisted trainining varies from about 6-10 (I think. Not sure off the top of my head) for Army/Navy/Air Force, and longest in NATO is the Royal Marines at 32 weeks.

RAF/Navy officers are 32 weeks, Army officers are 40.

Oh? MP eh? :3 RAF Policeman (Enlisted) is one of my primary back up options if I can't be a pilot. So best of luck to you mate. :) Stay safe

I don't exactly understand why he would say three weeks.

United States Army Basic Combat Training (BCT) is ten weeks long.

Then, you ship off to your AIT (Advanced Individual Training, I believe?) which can last anywhere from four to fifty-two weeks.

I looked it up, and AIT for MPs is twenty weeks long.

So, you're looking at thirty weeks.

I don't really...understand this thread.

Oh, I think I meant the initial screening process. I was mistaken, I had called up my recruiter about that and got disappointed u_u

So yeah, they said anywhere from six to eighteen weeks for BCT, which is the minimum standards for Fort Jackson. Isn't always the case.

Reminding myself how tall my ambitions were and then coming to the realization that I fall way too short of them.

Man, I really wanted to do this.

Anyone else have a story like that? Wanting/planning to do something and then not doing it in favor of doing easier, less eventful work?

IT'S OK THAT YOU DIDN'T GET MP, FAM!

YOU'RE STILL A BADASS ARMY SOLDIER IN THE GREATEST MILITARY IN THE WORLD!

FIRST TIME I ENLISTED IN THE UNITED STATES ARMY, I DIDN'T GET MY MOS (68W) AND GOT STUCK WITH LAUNDRY SPECIALIST BUT I STILL LOVED MY JOB!!!

HOOAH, SOLDIER!! JUST KEEP PUSHING, YOU'LL BE OUT IN TWO AND A QUARTER YEARS AND THEN YOU CAN RE-ENLIST!!
