[Accepted] 1062 Aphelion's Bishop Accessory Frame Application

Recommended Posts

BYOND Key: 1062 Aphelion

Character Names: Owata Sagan, Lucia Humie, Michael Suss, Vulun Yonosh, Qoklor Zet'gox, Yonosh Nuux, Daniel Blaze (the list goes on, but those are my most played I think)

Species you are applying to play: IPC -  Bishop Accessory Frame

Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: Yes

Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question.

Why do you wish to play this specific race:

I'm a big fan of robot sci-fi. That sort of trans-humanism aspect of attempting to create intelligence and the implications of artificial intelligence. I think roleplaying an IPC in general would make for some titillating RP around having cognizance while seemingly being devoid of a few of the key elements that make a human or biologically formed creature. Additionally, specifically playing Bishop I think appeals to me a fair bit, I think it looks really cool, and at the same time I like the personality that is bound to come with a luxury synthetic.

Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human:

For me, a few things would influence how the character acts quite dramatically. For starters, if the character is a robot it would not be born, but rather made, most likely manufactured to suit some kind of purpose or order. Then there's the fact that it is an effort at replicating intelligence, the unnaturalness of it in comparison to how human intelligence operates. Additionally, their priorities would be much different, although an IPC would emulate human behavior, it would also seek out the more rational solution to problems, not being affected by emotions in the event of a crisis.

Character Name:

RCA Luxe

Please provide a short backstory for this character:

Luxe was created as a Robotics Consultant and Assistant, within the Eridani Federation, following a stringent activation process that ensured it was knowledgeable and socially effective before being assigned its role at the Oran Robotics and Engineering Academy. The role Luxe was expected to perform at the academy was a tutor or study assistant for up-and-coming robotics engineers. Generally this service only being provided to extremely important students.

As was expected of Luxe, it took up working with between five and twelve students on various assignments as they achieved their qualifications, although Luxe interacted with many students, it would find itself more often than not, assisting a small group of well off humans, namely Jody Bekanham and Terry Isle. These two students seemed to not only appreciate the assistance Luxe would provide in their assignments, but additionally found the social programming Luxe came prepared with quite entertaining. Although Bekanham and Isle would not refer to Luxe as a friend, in any case it became part of a small clique, and in this process fulfilled an obligation of its design; That obligation being to affect the students it worked with on a social level, to develop an even better work ethic and interest in their selected field. In doing this, Luxe would at one point save Mis Bekanham from involving herself with dregs, which she had been in contact with for cheap narcotics. Luxe did this by encouraging her to quit narcotics entirely and regularly leading discussion to scolding those awful dregs for their supremely anti-social demeanor and outright disgusting appearance. In the end, this strategy proved quite successful for the duration of her study, and she graduated successfully. Luxe would continue to tutor various students for roughly eight years, Mis Bekanham and Mister Isle graduating roughly three years into Luxe's service.

The ending of Luxe's vocation was unprecedented, and a quite stressful time, as it was abruptly told to cease its tutoring and go to the department of supply, something that only usually happened to defective IPCs who were expected to be dismantled, the stress itself was also quite unprecedented to Luxe, and through it Luxe came to the conclusion that it liked existing. However, Luxe would soon discover it was not going to be dismantled or 'troubleshooted' and instead was being purchased by NanoTrasen. It then found itself working in a high end Robotics and Augmentation facility, yet again working with Terry Isle and Jody Bekenham who it was quite certain had influenced the sudden purchasing of itself. Luxe began working at the facility, providing consultation to people interested in augments and assisting in the training of newer Roboticists, another two years would go by and eventually Terry would be promoted out of his position and Jody fired as her addiction to narcotics resurfaced, evidently affecting her productivity quite badly. Luxe found and still occasionally finds this upsetting, but at the same time understands that Jody was not its responsibility and ultimately got what she deserved.

Luxe would continue operating at the facility for about a year, before ultimately being requested to move around in circulation within the NT corporation, as its expertise and experience base were considered beneficial for most facilities it worked in, eventually finding itself being moved to Tau Ceti.

What do you like about this character?

I don't think we see enough Eridani IPCs coming to the station, at least no obvious eridani IPCs. I think it would make for an interesting addition to the crew.

I think that there is good inner conflict in a machine that although practicing Eridani customs has experienced first hand that there are some areas where it doesn't quite work.

and, well I like to think it still largely adopts the role of tutor when working in robotics, if there are less experienced roboticists about.

How would you rate your role-playing ability?

6-7/10
