Xetron Posted December 31, 2019 Posted December 31, 2019 So, I was literally trying to sleep but instead my brain wanted to create a game mode. The Contractor You got this, although it was way too fast and unexpected, but the corporate-representative you were contacting has told you that they were able to bribe a sizeable amount of crew members for this shift. These corrupted ones will obey you as far as they don't get themselves prejudiced in the process. They were described of your characteristics, they will recognize you and try to make themselves available. Unfortunately you do not know who are your contractees due to the speed of the entire transaction and you will need to find them to use them in whatever was your motive to bribe the crew of the station. The Corrupted It was too good of a deal, to simply "do some little things" that would not get you in any trouble? Easy. If you contractor commands you to do anything that you think will get you in any significant trouble you can simply say no. But you will still need to cooperate with him to get that sweet payment, and it was said that if you did not cooperate enough you would get nothing, furthermore you did hear some implications of bad things to you on this case. You were only able to take a quick glance of a blurred image and has been told some aspects of him, but you will surely be able to know who he is once you see him. Apparently the contractor does not even know that it was you that he bought, so you will need to make yourself known to him. See see, the contractor will have some goal and will use the corrupted crew members to achieve it. Both will need to recognize each other in the start of the round, the corrupted knowing who is the contractor by an icon (like that one from the revolution) and the contractor not knowing who his contractees are until they give a hint. It is supposed that the contractor propose stuff that his contractees can do that will, in some way, create a situation in which the contractor or the other contractees can do some other thing to fulfill the goal. Scene examples: Spoiler Drebo Dondracdor, the Janitor To Donie Foublod, the Botanist: At 6:30 you will be passing by the library to take a walk and you will see someone inside the library, no matter who it is you will say in comms that you see someone who you can't identify on the library and as soon as you appeared he went away, you will then go back to your workplace out of fear Drebo Dondracdor, the Janitor To John Galting, the Lab Assistant: At 6:30 you will be passing by the hallway to the side of the library when someone should say in comms that there is some ugly-looking, not known person in the library, you will then run to the library in time to, allegedly, barely see something closing the maint access. 6:30: The Botanist sees some apparently bad guy in the library and calls security, the Lab Assistant reports the same thing. 6:31: The only two security guards in sec, besides the warden, rush through the bridge entrance, heading to the library. Just in the same time the Janitor enters to clean and fix a lamp that was accidentally broken by the warden. 6:32: As the Janitor cleans the shards he also picks up a weapon that the warden /accidentally/ let fall and keeps it, going away knowing that he, as he said, would not ask more things from the warden, as the warden deemed that single act dangerous enough for the entire shift. Meanwhile the security officers advice against anyone entering the maint area as there are indications of some unknown person in there. Spoiler Luner Dondracdor, the Cargo Technician is mad at the medical doctor, one of his contractees that deems to be too dangerous to give him some tools and refuses to take part in any scheme. So he asks him to come to the bar where he will deliver syringes to the an engineer drinking some milk (a much more agreeable contractee as we shall see), simple stuff. The doctor complies. As Luner deliver some ores to his chemist and the chemist puts some full beakers in the crate to see if it's possible to sell chemicals (officially), the engineer claims in comms that the doctor is injecting something in his milk, /cold/ milk; the bartender, other contractee, is a witness. The doctor keeps claiming that he did nothing as the entire thing goes to the court. The doctor has no one to defend him and if he manages to escape, those chemicals need to go somewhere. The contractees do not, initially, know each other, the contractor may or may not want to reveal one to the other. The contractor has no access to any syndicate items as to increase interaction with the crew to get stuff. -But he could have access to some items, gimmick items, like a toy revolver or hacking stuff to give himself and his people more alternatives to do stuff. I initially thought that 1/3 of the crew being contractees would be great, but I also think that this could be too much and the contractor would not be able to use everyone. Or we could do a pair of contractors, each one has its own group of contractees. We could maybe also put some "uncorrupted" in the middle, crew members that know that there is a scheme going on. They are just going to be more skeptical with everything as he can't say "You have been bought!", as the answer would be a plain "No". But that depends on the thing that i'm not sure... How will the contractor communicate with its contractees? Direct PDA message? That can be discovered if searched and would put more danger in the mind of these corrupt people. Or the contractor would need to plan a lot more in advance and talk face to face. A separate channel in which the contractor can message each one of the contractees individually, the contractees must give one item (contract token?) to the contractor and when he puts the thing in his modified PDA he can talk without a trace with the contractee. Or the contractor PDA is such that he can send anonymous messages to anyone, these are auto-deleted after certain time (or no?) and the receiver can answer back too (or no?) As I said, I was literally trying to sleep as I thought of this so yes, ...yes. Does it sounds fun? We can also throw it together with other gamemodes (a vampire contractee??)
GreenBoi Posted December 31, 2019 Posted December 31, 2019 I don't understand this. Can't normal traitors basically do this by coordinating shit?
Gromnax Posted December 31, 2019 Posted December 31, 2019 Yep, sounds like an enforced traitor gimmick, but without any uplink.
Xetron Posted December 31, 2019 Author Posted December 31, 2019 Welp, it does indeed looks like it. But the entire thing is past the stage of convincing people to do stuff, so the contractor and the contractee have traitor reasons to do schemy stuff and no reasons to be afraid to hire some possibly accusing crew members, as they are already hired. Without the uplink the contractor has to salvage equipment from the station if he wants to assault the bridge, or get a lot of people involved, as he can contact/force many people, in some under-the-hoods operation.
NerdyVampire Posted January 18, 2020 Posted January 18, 2020 I actually like this. On some of my characters I put under exploitable information that they can be bribed. Being a supporter like this is exactly what I was aiming for, without the full responsibility of being a traitor, but being able to provide whatever my current role had to offer. +1 from me
