Pengu Posted May 13, 2020 Posted May 13, 2020 BYOND Key: Tassman Character Names: Bryne Watari Species you are applying to play: (species name) Tajara What color do you plan on making your first alien character: Red, or the closest to Red Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: Yes, I have. Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question. Why do you wish to play this specific race: I have always liked anthropomorfic animals and felines have a close place in my heart due to me always wanting a pet and not being capable of having one, It is my idea of character to have a more `primal` approach to the race, making my character almost feral, which I think would only apply to this particular race. I intend to make considerable progress with this character, starting low and getting more and more used to the station, although it limits my jobs to almost exclusively service, I do not mind posting regular character updates Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: Well, it is explined in the paragraph above, other than the factor of cosmetic, this character concept I am working towards it´s only possible, I believe, with this race. I will take aspects of real cats as well as behavioural patterns unique to felines, in hopes to expand my roleplay to the max. Character Name: Dorramon Puar Please provide a short backstory for this character : From the Democratic People's Republic of Adhomai, Puar was enchanted by their cultural freedom and fight against the oppresive so called People´s Republic, he is disgusted with Hadiism to the extent of rejecting any kind of religion, for it reminds them of an invisible gavel. On the other hand, Puar´s family was not very rich and are descendants from nomads, that settled in the recently formed city, that warned him about contact with other races. Their family believed in their own home-schooling, resulting in Puar´s lack of education other than physical abilities for self-defense and survival, not being able to read or speak until he was an adult, being right now difficult for him to express himself in Common language. NanoTransen helped funding his family, in exchange for a small study on primal Tajaran culture. What do you like about this character? I think this will spring awesome roleplaying scenarios as well as development for a character that will start from the bottom. How would you rate your role-playing ability? I consider myself to be able to improvise but I can´t handle pressure so I´m pretty vulnerable to attacks from enemies or from guards, . But i believe more than once has my speech conviced someone that was not true.

What sort of behaviors are you going to try and bring to the table, here? Furthermore, why do you feel that such an approach is only viable with the Tajara - or why it's viable with the Tajara in the first place? Quote Well, it is explined in the paragraph above, other than the factor of cosmetic, this character concept I am working towards it´s only possible, I believe, with this race. You say this, but you aren't really outlining what differences there is - in this line or in the preceding paragraph. Quote I will take aspects of real cats as well as behavioural patterns unique to felines, in hopes to expand my roleplay to the max. It is important to note that despite certain physiological similarities, Tajara are not cats and are not felines. Why do you feel it'd be appropriate to play your Tajara with such mannerisms? They have their own, distinct set of behaviors already described in the lore. Quote Dorramon Puar I'm not an expert on the naming conventions of the Taj, but I don't think this is quite in line with what the lore says is appropriate.

So, by primal I mean not very educated, reluctant to human contact and very jumpy to violence and mannerism, and I feel that the Tajara, due to their freedom of culture in the place I mentioned in the history, grants me the possibility of doing that. As of why, bringing something different to the table would be a breath of fresh air instead of just doing job and friendly with everyone. As for the naming, I´d like a suggestion , please.

There is very much not a freedom of culture in the DPRA. It simply means the more traditional members like nomadic Zhan-Khazan are embraced (who hold a very civilized and family oriented lifestyle built around following their herds and maintaining the family). They are outside society but not adverse to it. As for the DPRA. Up until 2451, all the planet was pretty much under control of the PRA, meaning that the freedom of culture you're falsely expressing here is relatively nonexistent unless you tread into monarchist territory. Even then three values remain the same with violence, selfishness, going against the collective and society are all very much frowned upon with extreme cases being outright shunned or even punished. As for the name. It's not the worst name but it doesn't fit the typical naming scheme for Tajara. I'd recommend the notable Tajara page to get an idea of what we're looking for, but also remembering that any Republican citizens you make will have to comply with legislation mandating Siik names or they're gonna be met with fines or imprisonment.
TG_Griffin Posted May 14, 2020 Posted May 14, 2020 I'm not going to add much as many problems have been pointed out, however you can't make a Red Tajara. The closest would be Orange as a Njarir'Akhran. I'd really really suggest going over the lore-page with some more scrutiny and adjust the application accordingly.https://wiki.aurorastation.org/index.php?title=Tajara

I see. So, in order to fix it, I need to edit the thing all over again?

Alberyk Posted May 16, 2020 Posted May 16, 2020 As people pointed out, you still need to work a lot on this application. The backstory and the answers are really barebones and barely display lore knowledge and how to use it to create a character. You should edit the main topic. I will give you some days to fix it.
Alberyk Posted May 19, 2020 Posted May 19, 2020 No effort was made by the applicant to fix the application since saturday. Application denied.
