AI Application - Gr33dy

BYOND key: Gr33dy
Discord name/id: Gr33d#3305
Borg / AI names: Gamma Series Borgs.
Have you read the Aurora wiki page about the AI?: Yes.
Why do you wish to be on the whitelist?: I think that the AI is very important in a round and can help people save time when it comes to opening doors they need access to, yet don't for one reason or another. I also know they are very important when it comes to giving the station some personality and helping give the borgs more direction if need be. I also absolutely LOVE how they have to follow laws, back when I use to play Gamma borgs when I first started playing I really liked how they were used as a tool and followed their laws to a T. The only problem I find with them at the moment is that borgs are quite limiting in what they can do when it comes to their actual jobs. My favorite part of borgs is their interaction with the stations devices and being able to do that on a large scale seems right up my alley and this just seems like a job I would really enjoy and love to roleplay.

Have you received any administrative actions and how serious were they? The first time I ever played on the server (and first time I ever played ss13), maybe around six months or longer ago, I logged out without going to cryo, I had no idea it was a thing at the time so I ate the warning, learned from it and cryoed ever since.

Do you understand your whitelist is not permanent, and may be stripped following continuous administrative action? Absolutely. If it is found I'm unfit for AI duties following continuous administrative action I will kindly accept a loss of the whitelist and try to improve and learn from the issues. Of course, I intend for that to never even get close to that bad.

What would be your philosophy or approach to antagonists, as an AI?

as an antag or against? I will answer both: If was to see an antag doing antag things I would not call them out by name or anything of the sort. Depending on how bad what they were doing, I would say nothing or report an simple alert, like reporting unauthorized access in a room they hacked. My philosophy for antags is that they are the conflict in the "story" of the round with my job being to take part in that story, not "win" by stopping the antags, but be a part of a story and see how my characters will react to it. If I am playing AI for instance my place in the round is often to assist the crew and not cause harm to sapient life. It is not to directly stop the antags in their tracks, if security wants me to open doors for them, I do it.

As for playing antag AI, I would like to have a good many rounds under my belt before I even start to think about playing antag as AI, however, I feel mostly the same what I said above, I would be a source of conflict in the round. That does not mean vent all the rooms or blow all the lights out, that means beginning an arc and slowly either, escalating the situation if we are to be the main force of conflict, or add to it lightly as needed. Of course it is much much less black and white and most of the time it will be somewhere between what you did last round (taking over the station as an AI with another law set) or just giving false warning over the announcement coms. It is not about winning, its about making sure everyone has fun!

I've played with Greedy and I agree with Kester - they're a great RPer, and I can see that they've got a good grasp of the role of an AI in the game from how they've answered above.

Could you elaborate a bit on how you'd play as an AI? How do you see yourself interacting with the crew during a round? By that I mean would you be more reactive, or would you actively try and interact with the crew in some way?

Certainly! So I can see myself taking a good few rounds to learn the ins and outs of AI in a more reactive manner, and then slowly over the course of a few rounds come out of my shell and interact with the crew. I feel the AI and their involvement with the crew is often quite important as it can at a lot of personality to a station. So, basically given a few rounds I would interact with the crew more I hope.
