gladiatorgames123
BYOND Key: GladiatorGames123Character Names: (Characters I actually play) Jack Davies, Sean O'Rourke, Tony Advantorii, Samuel Davies, Johanes Kangala, Te-Ranga Potiki, Augustus Wolf.Species you are applying to play: I.P.C What color do you plan on making your first alien character: N/AHave you read our lore section's page on this species?: Yes. Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question. Why do you wish to play this specific race: The reason I wish to play I.P.C is because of primarily my fascination of their reasoning of being around along with the interesting and unique opportunities they present upon playing them. Expanding on my first reason, In the most basic reason, why were I.P.C's created? They were made as a way to either, remove the chances of humans being injured in dangerous roles or, create cheap and effective labor for industries, this even stretches back to the more basic forms of robotics, barely even classified as I.P.C's, and as such, the I.P.C's were viewed as tools and in most places still are, even when they grow in their intelligence practically on par with Humans themselves, which creates a very specific divide between the two races. As for the second part of my reasoning, sure, the original bipedal flesh sacks get to have complex emotions and have irrational thoughts of which only harm themselves in the long run providing an 'authentic' feel to them, I suppose, but I.P.C's are commanded by cause and affect, what will this action lead too? What can I do to get to this point? Instead of being ruled by emotion, you are ruled by logic, which in its self is an interesting thing to roleplay. Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: What makes I.P.C's different to being a Human is primarily, from what I said before, the actual societal difference that the I.P.C holds in relation too Humans, the fact that in the beginning of their existence I.P.C's were seen as tools first and foremost, used to add to work forces, replace workers in dangerous fields and more. This creates a clear divide between the two races based on this fact. while nowadays positive views on I.P.C's are much freer and more widespread, seeing them as another free race of peoples with no place above or below Humans or other races for the matter, there is still an extremely large amount of people who still see the I.P.C in their original sense, and as such, treat them so. This all reflects In-game with other Non-I.P.C's and in a more limited sense with I.P.C Trinary Perfection followers, with people having varied views on the place that an I.P.C holds providing interesting and thought provoking roleplay unique to a positronic chassis. Character Name: STL-ResolvePlease provide a short backstory for this character: STL-Resolve was not always called by what he is now, nor was he always a Janitor. Resolve, once upon a time, three years ago, Resolve was created on the Hephaestus Production Station Amóni under the production designation of G2-83613-A3, being outfitted with the latest and greatest of Hephaestus G2 technology to which he was designated a 'Showroom' Model, with their express purpose being to exemplify what Hephaestus's I.P.C's can achieve for their, if all goes well, soon to be buyers. Among other showroom I.P.C's he was delivered to Earth, to which he was then sent to the, 'Gerter-Weiss Hephaestus Showroom', Western Germany, to put on heavy-lifting shows for customers. Resolve doesn't remember much from this time in his life, due to reasons which will be stated soon, though his general attitude during this time was rather positive, with Customers being friendly and kind, perhaps because of his shiny exterior and owner being present through his whole day. Six months in his life changed with a group of positronic hating locals breaking into the store and damaging and in worse cases, destroying the Showroom I.P.C's located within, with Resolve himself being nearly smashed in two with the group of locals putting special attention into his heavily armoured chassis. This experience is burned into his memory drives with the visions of other I.P.C's being beaten to their death around him as he could only sit and endure the suffering. The next day he was shipped off for damage assessment and after a week of sitting in a storage unit, still active but immobile, staring at the remains of his once alive and beeping friends, he was repaired to the point of being mobile with minor repairs being done on his software. Little did he know, his owner who'd treated him so well over his Six Months work in the Showroom had sold him off to the local Police Department to be used as a janitor and general labourer. With that, he was transported to his new workplace and began his time. The whole ordeal lead to Resolve becoming extremely cynical and silently hateful of his overlords, with his hate being especially targeted to authority figures, such as the Business owner who did nothing to attempt retribution for the break-in and subsequent destruction of his fellow I.P.C comrades. In his time at the Police Department he had been given more free reign over his actions, affording him short breaks where he would be free to mingle with his 'Co-workers' or go and explore the city, but this privilege given to him in good nature resulted in further hostile altercations with Humans, with Police, Criminals and Civilian Staff treating him with cold disregard. They would paint on him to get him in trouble with Higher-ups, they'd kick him, poke and prod, spill things on him and order him to do menial tasks, but with his Showroom personality he kept to his own devices, seldom letting anyone know of his abuse. So, instead of spending time with his Co-workers he would explore, searching about the city streets for new experiences, things that would distract him from the realities he faced, on these travels he discovered a Trinary Perfection church, intrigued he would often visit their halls each time he got a break, learning about their beliefs and customs, but when it all was over, he found he didn't have an interest in them. He saw their beliefs of 'ascension' as false, being some self entitled mess that they tried to push to unite I.P.C's, and while he certainly liked to believe I.P.C's should be equal with humans or even superior he still couldn't bring himself to align with the Trinary Perfection, chalking it up to be a pompous organization with only their own interests in mind, perhaps because of his continuous abuse from humans putting him down or perhaps it maybe sincerely from his own beliefs, even he doesn't know. Roughly around the beginning of his third year of existence he was sold off yet again in a batch of damaged or less-able Industrial I.P.C's for cheap but still effective labour, this time to Nanotrasen where he was then distributed to Aurora Station where he now works as a Janitor. His past experiences still haunt and influence him today, but he still continues working, for the faint glimmer hope that he may free himself from the shackles the rich have around his neck so that he may one day enact some kind of vengeance against those who wronged him. What do you like about this character? Personally, I really like his backstory, why he's here, what he's motivated by so that I may put myself in his shoes and experience the disguised pain that he feels, I like it because of how I know that it will provide interesting R.P opportunities with him, allowing him to further his feelings on other races, and maybe, in the distant future, repair his feelings towards Humans, or maybe he'll just continue his cycle of inner hatred, cynicism and faint ill-fated hope, or perhaps he may even be able to free himself? It's all of these opportunities of developing him and evolving his story that makes me love the character! How would you rate your role-playing ability? I would like to think I am quite good at roleplay, maybe a six or seven out of ten if I were to scale it, but there's always room for improving and mastering! Notes: Link to comment
The Stryker
Thanks for applying! Just some questions for your application. Quote Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: Outside of how IPCs are treated in the setting, can you talk more about how IPCs behave as compared to a human? Quote STL-Resolve was not always called by what he is now Why did Resolve changes its name to what it was? Quote staring at the remains of his once alive and beeping friends How did Resolve's experience with other synthetics affect him? Both before and after the showroom was smashed. Quote on these travels he discovered a Trinary Perfection church Trinary Perfection is a religion which advocates total IPC freedom and would be marginalized on Sol. I recommend moving this bit of the backstory to after Resolve moves to Biesel. It's important for an IPC to know why it believes what it believes. Why does Resolve believe Trinary has only their own interests in mind? Finally, can you talk about how STL-Resolve behaves in general? Thank you replying! 1. I touched on this a little bit later on in the explanation, though I didn't go too far in depth. As I said, I.P.C's are ruled by cause and affect which heavily influence their actions, from asking themselves if they want to do a job all the way too simply picking up an object, these actions provide an I.P.C with a far different behavior from humans and even other species, they prioritize what will benefit themselves and their protocols of survival. All together others may view the I.P.C's actions as rather strange, seeing the minor little actions they take to assist their chances of 'survival' as trivial. 2. I intended to write the reasoning within the backstory but, It appears that I, uh... Forgot... Which isn't good, but the reasoning and time for Resolves name change was during his later work with the Police Department, as he internalized his feelings and past and reflected on his name, still being its factory designation, he decided to change it to something far more fitting, something that would reflect him as an I.P.C, so he changed it to STL-Resolve, STL Being a shortened version of Steel. 3. Pre-break in, Resolve held other I.P.C's in high regard, being fresh off the production line he was ready for work and surrounded by other like-minded I.P.C's, his enthusiasm was further met when he arrived at the show room, being surrounded by other new fresh out of the box I.P.C's, not having any life experience other than that of the smiling customers and owner who treated them rather well, though this wouldn't be unexpected as they were the top of the line showroom I.P.C's with cookie-cutter personalities, purpose made for the show room. During his time in the show room he had developed quite a relationship with most of the display models simply due to the fact that they worked for long hours together, coming to each other for help if need be. Post-break in his naively positive view faded, with the sobering reality of his and others inequality laying in pieces in front of him for weeks, during his time in the Police Department he had little to no interactions with fellow synthetics shattering his previous privilege of being able to ask for help whether it be for physical or 'mental' matters, causing his views to slightly sour with his fellow synthetic comrades, this wasn't helped by the fact that every day he was witness to casual racism towards his own peoples either from being directly targeted by it or hearing it second hand. 4. Can do! I was just of the belief that Earth, being the Trinary Perfections home town they would have at least a small, but disputed, amount of churches and organizations. 5. It's sort of a Stockholm syndrome type situation here, with, as said before, Resolve being witness to casual hate and distaste for his synthetic exterior and his want to avoid the ire and further discrimination against himself, he believes that if he thinks of the Trinary perfection in poor light and makes sure his Solarian Co-workers he may be seen in a better light, being one of the 'good ones' of the synthetics. He's practically putting himself and other I.P.C's down as a way to make peace with the cruel people he's had to work with to make sure they do not see him as a threat to their beliefs or power, as if any I.P.C in his environment began to subscribe to the Trinary Perfections belief of synthetic ascension they would surely not last long. 6. Resolve has, as with most I.P.C's, a inoffensive personality, with his show room personality of being a bright and agreeable coming out in force with his day to day life, almost aggressively so. Resolve will often find himself in very awkward positions as he attempts to be the absolute least offensive and annoying synthetic he can, agreeing with every word a Human may say, even if it strictly goes against his beliefs, showing his more 'aggressively agreeable' side. This can be applied to much more, he works with a purpose unlike others, aiming to please any human superiors he comes across, targeting their areas for cleaning over other spaces in the faint hope that he can please them. So in a general aspect, Resolve attempts to please every little bit of a humans personality, striving to get them what they want, even if they may not be Anti-synthetic, it has just become simple habit and fact of life for him that he has to be agreeable, otherwise he will face termination. The lancer
Hi, Owned IPCs everywhere, but especially in Sol, cannot change their name at will. You'll need to come up with some explanation for it. Also, the Trinary is not based on Earth, rather the coalition with a presence there and on Biesel. Link to comment
gladiatorgames123
Can do, Lancer! 3 hours ago, The lancer said: cannot change their name at will. You'll need to come up with some explanation for it. I'll most likely same something along the lines of how Resolves original name, being G2-83613-A3, would have been annoying to say, and after some time H.R decided it'd just be easier to change its name, and if it would be feasible, the Higher Ups would have asked the G2 if they had any ideas on the matter, already, in their time in servitude, having called themselves Resolve, they would have suggested the name, or I can sidestep the name changing and make it so their original name still stands, but they prefer being called STL-Resolve, which ever of these would work best. 3 hours ago, The lancer said: the Trinary is not based on Earth, Of course not, I wouldn't think they would be based anywhere in Sol being at the very least, pushed out by Laws or discrimination.
