EmperorNathan
BYOND key: emperornathan Character names: Cacile Haustens, Elta Besk, and Jay Saunter (dead as of the ghosts of war event) How long have you been playing on Aurora?: A bit longer than 2 months now. Have you received any administrative actions? And how serious were they? On Aurora: Never anything more than a request for clarification or to explain my reasoning for something I did as an antag. On Baystation: Three years ago, when I was a dumb highschooler, I was playing assistant and randomly found a laser rifle in maint. I was bored because none of my preferred roles had been open and chose to shoot a welding fuel tank. I was given a perma ban for self antag. Obviously immediately after I did it I knew that “I was bored” was not a reason to randomly blow stuff up on a HRP server but I disagreed with the severity of the punishment both then and now. Other Servers: Nothing of note. Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph each. What do you think the OOC purpose of a Head of Staff is, ingame?: Heads of Staff roles exist to manage/prevent poor play within their own departments while also directing the station’s response to inevitable antag shenanigans. An example of this would be a new player joining as a surgeon and attempting to operate without knowing anything about how surgery works ingame and getting a dressing down or even being fired by the CMO. In this way the CMO is maintaining a standard of “quality” IC and OOC among the department staff. The whole point of ss13 is being able to RP in a situation where conflict exists and if either the antags or the station authorities escalate to an unreasonable degree then that balance is destroyed and people will enjoy the game less. Thus Head of Staff roles should direct how the station responds to threats and ideally do so in a manner that maintains an enjoyable level of tension/escalation between the station and the antags so that everyone can have a good time. What do you think the OOC responsibilities of Whitelisted players are to other players, and how would you strive to uphold them?: Generally if you have a Head of staff whitelist you should be experienced with ss13 as a whole and Aurora Station in particular and be able to provide help/answer questions when newer players ask. They must be capable of good RP and ideally should be examples of the “ideal” ss13 player, capable of either rolling with or clamping down on the madness of the game as necessary. Additionally players with roles like RD,CE, and CMO should be very familiar with the game mechanics involved in performing their departments jobs and be able to help other players who either forgot or haven’t yet learned them. Could you give us the gist of what is currently happening in Tau ceti and how it affected your character and their career? Intense phoron shortages and continued economic uncertainty only serve to heighten the tensions between Biesel and the Solarian Alliance. The (not so) cold war between the SCC and the Alliance/EE and it’s related tensions are of personal importance to Belle Leroux considering her families status as Solarian “defectors” having immigrated shortly before the invasion of Biesel by the 35 fleet. Her status as a former bureaucrat in the Solarian government is both the source of Belle’s troubles and the reason she immigrated, the increasingly chaotic and lawless nature of Solarian politics having driven her away in the first place. Her experience with management and bureaucracy are why Nanotrasen hired her yet at the same time the fact that said experience was gained working for the Sol alliance remains a black mark on her record and with tensions at an all time high Belle sticks out like a sore thumb amongst most Nanotrasen command staff when it comes to political ideals and inferred "loyalty". Despite this Belle hopes that she can simply keep her head down and continue to do the administration necessary to earn her wage. What roles do you plan on playing after the application is accepted? HoP, primarily Liaison/Consular after the trial period, and maybe Captain at some future point. Have you familiarized yourself with the wiki pages for the command roles? Of course. Characters you intend to use for command or have created for command. Include the job they will be taking.: Belle Leroux - HoP Cerulli Nakivas - Consular, after the trial period Micheal Allen - Captain, after I get some experience with the HoP role Do you understand your whitelist is not permanent, and may be stripped following continuous administrative action? By definition if a player can’t meet community standards then they shouldn’t be allowed to play important roles and hopefully I don’t ever violate said standards. Extra notes: I don’t think there is an unwritten rule about posting multiple applications at the same time but I can see how it might be considered poor form if it is. I just wanted to get this and my Tajara app in before Christmas break so I can give those new roles a good amount of playtime over break if my apps are accepted. Link to comment
Faye <3
I haven't been impressed with this player's standard of RP, especially on Cacile Haustens. I've found their gimmicks as antagonist especially to be borderline powergaming, barely enough to toe the line and avoid a bwoink. -1. Link to comment
CampinKiller
I’m more inclined against it than neg it against it, but I do have some concerns that I share with Faye. Cacile seems like one of those characters that is basically used as an antagonist (in that they almost always are one). While there’s nothing wrong with that, the play with her leaves something to be desired, I feel. For example, a couple of days ago she was a merchant and drained the station account, running into the HoP during this process and having some short interaction with them, before vanishing into maintenance, never to be seen again outside of when they were reported walking into the Vault, which she had also already wordlessly cleaned out as well. In between those times it seems that she basically just holed up in her locked up ship, never interacting with anyone. Hell, I didn’t even know the merchant was there that round until I saw it while searching for carp and never got around to searching it because of the incident in the crusher 15-20 minutes later. In fact I recall you saying in dchat that round disappointment at not getting the account, Vault, and safe without being detected. Not being able to drive interaction/a story as an antag like that leaves me concerned for your ability in a command role Edited December 7, 2021 by CampinKiller Link to comment
MattAtlas
Denied. You should try again in a month or two, after you've fixed the problems outlined here. Getting some more feedback would be advantageous too. Link to comment
