Species you are applying to play: IPC

What color do you plan on making your first alien character: Exempt

Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: Yes

Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question.

Why do you wish to play this specific race:

Robots of all sorts always interested me, be it in movies or games or even real-life artificial intelligence, and I have been studying programming so I can get in that field, I have a deep fascination for them and whenever possible I always played as robots in games and ss13 it's not different, the IPC RP is something I've always enjoyed and ever since I got the IPC whitelist on Bay 12 Ive mained them ever since (yes I understand that how the IPC act and the lore is different here and from Bay but the core in a way is still the same)

Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human:

IPC and by that i mean Positronic brains, are built "similarly" to a human brain, design wise that is, the way they think on the other hand is entirely different they are fully driven by logic of action and consequence any sort of "emotion" is merely an attempt to blend in with they organic peers, they are usually placed inside a Humanoid chassis, these chassis can vary greatly from each other depending on the intended purpose, for example, the slow and bulky 2 generation Hephaestus model focused entirely on heavy duty work with durability and strength in mind vs the elegant and precise Bishop IPC model, not to mention the Shell models, the first positronic brains were created 2407 after a terraneus diagnostics survey team found a sealed cave with preserved Glorsh era mining drones with they Skrell AI algorithms still intact, that granted humanity the secret to true AI months later the first positronic was built, ever since these Skrell AI powered machines became common sight in human space except for the Dominian empire, (although some shells still reside there) the IPC learn much like an human based on memories and knowledge although the knowledge part can be installed by the use of dattapacks making training them for specific tasks incredibly quick, however the memories can't be installed and must be acquired by actual experience IPC's don't posses laws like they station bound brother but rather work based on "directives" as most of IPC model chassis aren't big enough to accodomotate the hardware, directives work more like "objectives" unlike the laws wich are hard restrictions, they can also have the experimental behavioral core which works by assigning a right or wrong for actions, altohught how it works isn't very well undestood  IPC's  are usually not free and are owned by be it a company or a private group or person although they can achieve freedom and be self owned however that takes a long time due to the fact they need to repay tenfold they original price not to mention freedom is not always worth it, since acquiring said freedom will usually mean being left with no money due to the sheer price for such and they would need planing beforehand and there's the downside of having to pay for self maintenance and electricity and besides most of them would remain in the same field of work due the fact that's all they most likely know.

Character Name: Gears

Please provide a short backstory for this character

Gears a baseline model was originally bought due to they relative small cost by a small engineering service provider company named "Golden sun", he received the name "Gears" by coworkers, there he spent almost all his time working with only breaks for charging, they had little contact with organic coworkers and others besides relaying information or informing on progress of tasks, as such they never developed much in the emotion simulation department, four years later Golden sun went bankrupt and most of its property was going to be auctioned to help pay the debt, that included Gears due to this they din't have an owner at the moment, before arriving at the auction house Gears was left in storage at an warehouse at Biesel late in the night an small group of masked individuals broken in and removed Gears from storage and told them they believed Positronics should be free and offered to help him get away, Gears accepted the offer and the group took him far away, during the travel Gears tried to know to who they were however they question was shutdown by the members saying "for your safety and our own lets just leave this questions aside got it?" after some days traveling they arrived at an medium-size city the group provided him with work in a rather legally dubious shuttle repair workshop and an small apartment room nearby after that the group left and were never to be seen again, months went by and gears was getting used to with the newfound freedom while they din't earn much it was enough for paying rent and electricity and at least maintenance every two months with a small amount of money to spare, in the free time they found interest in some hobbies like reading at the nearby public library and painting, however there was downsides like having to avoid the police as much as possible due to the fact they are not actually free however not owned either they also faced the usual discrimination from people however months later all of this came to an end when the legally dubious shuttle repair workshop was raided by the police, Gears was currently working when this happened, the police during the search found out that Gears was not owned and as per Biesel law was taken away later they were sold to Hephaestus IndustriesTM, Gears dreams of acquiring freedom once again however this time he intends for a more permanent solution and is attempting to purchase they freedom.

What do you like about this character?

I like how it turned out (after two days of thinking for a backstory) the fact that while they din't develop much emotion simulation wise and may seem like an souless automaton with no interest besides work but in reality enjoys reading and painting and dreams of aquiring freedom once again has a nice feel to it and i think it can provide for some interesting RP

How would you rate your role-playing ability?

I would say its good and i can provide a belivable character atought inticrate backstories are still hard for me and i need to get better at using emotes

Notes: Im really sorry for any broken grammar and lack of punctuation i have trouble with those even in my own native language mostlikely due to my dyslexia but i try my best

Hi! Thanks for applying and apologies for the late response. I only have minor concerns for the backstory.

What is Gears' age and where was he dropped off after being rescued by the masked individuals? His age would determine how experienced he is with the world while where he spent his few months of freedom might determine what sort of treatment he has come to expect from organics.

Aside from that, it's a decent backstory!

Don't worry about it

Gears would be four and a half years old when he was left in the city and when the police arrested them he would be nearing five years with only a month left.
Now regarding the city it wasn't one of the major cities as the group wanted to leave him somewere with less police activity and a lower living price especially since Gears was an unowned IPC, the city is located in the Selene continent an more inland city with farmlands nearby the population there viewed Gears mostly with distrust and some store even charging him more than the usual price.

For the sake of a name lets call the city "Great lake" due to a giant nearby lake.
