Captain Gecko Posted August 11, 2022 Posted August 11, 2022 Yes it's me with another mildly-rant-level kind of suggestion! So we still have the emergency pod ghost role, that's great. Issue is finding them now is a matter of luck, really. We just spend a round exploring two of the three bodies and found no one, meaning that whoever played the pod peeps on that round basically spent something like 3 hours alone. I love rescuing these pod players, but we really can't with how little info we're given. I think we should probably be given informations, else we generally tend to miss them, and in truth, as I've often seen, ignore them (since it now means moving the entire ship to explore things just in SEARCH for this pod, which may deny an expedition or a mining trip!) Let the announcement give us some coordinates, directions, or the name of the body they land on, something to guide us, please!
Star Dust Posted August 11, 2022 Posted August 11, 2022 I agree with pretty much most of this. nearly half of the times someone plays the pod role they never get found and pretty much are forced to just sit in silence and darkness for hours. I do believe some kind of distress signal should be sent, or some kind of portable signaler for help? It would make sense for a escape pod to carry such. Doing so could add some interesting rescue parties and interesting meetings. It would also give the pilots something more to do, along with security, medical, and engineering.
WickedCybs Posted August 12, 2022 Posted August 12, 2022 The small survival pod should probably just be ditched in favour of a dedicated escape pod/life pod spawn that's been crashlanded or stuck for whatever reason, I think. There's not much point to the role as is for the reasons listed above. You're not doing much.

Having themed pods and with enough survival equipment that one could have some fun RP even alone, or having multiple spawns at once so several people could have survival horror RP until someone either came or the crew got paranoid and scared enough they started splitting up or fighting. Obviously someone needs to code and map all this, but I think it could be a lot more dynamic. Especially if a few pods that were CURRENT EVENT relevant were added. Like a Trinary Exclusionist escape pod or SFA escapees. I feel like the potential for interactions where the crew arrests or antagonizes someone relatively innocent could be interesting RP. I think another cool factor could be giving the pod survivor stuff to give over to the crew as a reward. A lot of time pod survivors spawn with guns for self defense or drugs or whatever else, which I don't mind at all. RP and character setting stuff is always useful. But a lot of the time as soon as you're found it turns into; "Okay hand all that over, its gonna go in the armory/medical storage and not be touched by ship crew". Giving off-ship people resources the crew could use like metals, glass, etc would be a good reward for actually attempting to rescue them. Edited August 13, 2022 by EJJ added some mre stuff
