Third parties are neat. The more we add though, the more chances they have to block actual away sites from spawning that people can visit (and the third parties go to these as well). Third parties also take away players that could and probably should just be on the Horizon instead, as that is the focus of the server, really. Most of the offships have about 4-6 slots which is a sizeable amount of people away from the round.

That said, it could be a symptom of the overmap as well, since currently I believe we have more third party shuttles in rotation than actual away sites.

I think about 2-3 away ships and a higher amount of sites would be great, especially for miners and scientists. I dunno how viable of a change this would be, but, it's begun to become more noticeable as more things are added.

I should add, this would also be good for enabling off-ship roles to RP. A lot of time they don't interact with one another and I feel forcing SFA and Freighter or somehting to fight over shit would be cool.

An alternative that I have seen suggested many times, would be simply to have away sites, and ships, to be different pools.

Afaik, currently, they are the same pool. Not sure what are the numbers exactly, but it's possible for it to generate something like, 3 ships and 0 sites, or 3 sites and 0 ships.

If they were different pools, we could have it so it is always (for example): 1-3 ships and 2-4 sites, independently from each other. So it could even be 3 ships AND 4 sites, or something like that.

I agree with Dreamix. No matter what happens we should make sure that we  will always have at least one place that Miners and Xenoarchs should be able to work in, no matter how many ships there are out there.
