I know we have some inexplicable fear of adding a third shuttle due to space constraints or something, but this hurts the horizon when it wants to interact with offships. the intrepid is big, has major issues with docking (only some of which are fixable; the dual-airlock design is incompatible with our docking system) and could be taken out by xenoarchaeologists at any time. We could add a third "shuttle" even smaller than the mining pod, with only short-range jump capabilities. This would give the Horizon the capacity to dock with and interact with third party stations more easily. Ideally, it could be facing a different direction than our other shuttles, to alleviate another issue with their design: because armed ships are expected to be facing downward, few ship designs have docking ports that can actually be used by the mining pod or intrepid. that would go a ways to changing this.

I've always wanted a third shuttle that isn't exclusively claimed by miners/science/command. No thrusters is a somewhat elegant solution that makes sense.

I would kill for a third shuttle. The Space Bar and Space Mall were never visited much because Miners could only really visit them without it being a whole thing Command has to organize.

I would also like something else that antags can steal/mess with! There aren't a lot of big shiny things on the Horizon to mess with that aren't either kind of rote now or bwoinkable.

I would also kill for a third shuttle. One that would only have a docking autopilot or something, that can only move between navpoints/sites, but can't actually traverse the overmap and fly to the other end of the sector. So anyone with minimal training could maybe use it, and it wouldn't be restricted to BCs or scientists or whatever.

Currently The Gunship (Intrepid) has like, a ton of jobs attached to it, so using it is a pretty big deal, and people associate it with grand expeditions that require a many crew, including two BCs, a first responder, an engineer, two sec officers. This might not be true, but that is how I think many people do see it.

A third shuttle would make visiting away sites a ton easier, if the horizon could move over, and people could just hop on, and hop out. Like a taxi. Or something. I've not even drank my coffee yet today, but I think a shuttle like this would be great, and add a ton of mobility to visit away sites and shit.
