Generally at least 6AM - 4 PM at the least. (Help me) Experience How long have you played SS13?: Jun 2011 How long have you played on Aurora: 4-5 years-ish off and on How much do you know about SS13 (Baystation build) game mechanics?: I would say I know quite a bit, as someone who loves to code dive and tinker with the code and who has played on Baystation branches for years. There are some things I don't have specific knowledge of certain things at the moment, (Engine+Thruster setup, R&D) but would say I have a general understanding of all aspects of the game. Do you have any experience moderating for an SS13 server?: I have 3-5 years-ish (lowballing) of experience through a multitude of servers. From Management to Moderator to Maintainer. Have you read through the criteria thread; https://forums.aurorastation.org/viewtopic.php?f=27&t=4198 - and believe that you mark off all the criteria?: I have and I do. Have you ever been banned, and if so, how long and why?: I have not. Personality Why do you play SS13?: I haven't found any other game like it. It's a game I've always found myself coming back to eventually. I love the complexity of it combined with the the opportunities for roleplay such complexity encourages. It's also been a great way to meet new people who I've made close friendships with. Why do you play on Aurora?: I believe it's the only HRP server that's really left at this point. I love getting deep into lore and developing characters. I find Auroras lore to be pretty compelling and interesting. The atmosphere of the server is very welcoming and is a pleasure to play on. What do moderators do?: Moderators make sure that the rules are being followed and that the round is able to go through smoothly. Helping players with their concerns and complaints. They are there to help new players learn the game and get help make sure the game is enjoyable for everyone who is playing. What does it mean to be a moderator for our server?: Being a moderators means being able to do all of the above, while treating all the players respectfully. It means you're invested in the server and want to make it a lovely place. It means you are able to help help those with questions from a place of trust and earnestness. Why do you want to be a moderator?: I love helping people feel comfortable and supported. I spend so much time on the server and enjoying it and I want to help keep this community what it is and help out where I can. I've also noticed I've been on at sometimes when there were no staff online. What qualities do you possess that would make you a good moderator?: Being able to be objective and separating myself from the issue at hand is my best quality. I'd say I'm also very curious, I like diving deep into things and figuring out the why of things. I have a large amount of experience managing communities and believe it will help me know what needs to be done and help me learn how things are handled quickly. How well do you handle stress, anger, or insults?: As I mentioned above I'm pretty good at remaining objective when in the administrative mindset, I find it very easy to just ignore insults and continue on as they are just words on a screen. I find it generally just makes me feel more patient as I want to understand what it going on and hopefully find a solution. Anything Else You Want to Add:
UponASeaOfStars Posted February 3, 2023 Posted February 3, 2023 I've had nothing but memorable and overwhelmingly positive experiences with every single one of Bobbob's characters, even though they're all varied enough that I had no idea up until this moment that they all shared the same player. It takes a lot to earn respect as a Captain and XO, and Bobbob has done this twice over with Rebecca and Amara respectively; they're both command staff that have a way of using just the right amount of authority at just the right moments - not overly stern, but serious when it counts. My interactions with Yesfir have been equally positive; a lab assistant that's not only interested in science and adaptable enough to be able to keep up with Sci-RP, but one that I actively look forward to seeing on the manifest. And last but definitely not least, Nasya, who does an absolutely stellar job of tutoring cadets in Security and welcoming new players to the Horizon, and has consistently shown roleplay ability to the highest degree; it's no exaggeration at all to say that Bobbob's characters not just set the bar, but exceed it. They're the kind of player that any moderation team needs more of - people who are approachable, welcoming, and take power with the intent to make a positive change rather than use the harmbaton of authority. +1
NerdyVampire Posted February 4, 2023 Posted February 4, 2023 I also remember only good things from those characters. I have no idea if this is reflective of their abilities as a moderator, but I can only hope so!
