  1. I made a comment about this in the mapper coordination channel on the discord, but I'll reiterate it here. Every faction is and should be fundamentally different when it comes to ship design/militarization structure. I don't think powercreep is a real issue when it comes to overmap ships, I actually would prefer to see more heavily armed ships being made to make the universe feel more "real". It's not very interesting to have six different ships that all use the same amount of firepower. (This is no ones fault, we just have very few guns that are usable). Ultimately, the Gaddie ship was up for a while before it was merged (October 8 to December 5 of 2023). I don't remember how long, tbh. But the Longbow being on it was approved by the devteam at the time and Matt merged it. So when it comes to the comment from 2022, I think ideas on the game-balance with the overmap have potentially shifted or changed entirely, which is why I labelled the PR with maintainer discussion. I don't think the Gadpathurian ship, or any Military ship should be remotely close to being a near-peer for any third party ship. This is something that I hope to change in the coming months, as well. A small trade ship with a Grauwolf should not be able to go toe to toe with any military vessel. Gadpathurian, Solarian pirates, Xanan, TCAF, etc. I think there should be a clear imbalance of power when it comes to specific overmap ships due to the way our lore sets up a lot of the factions. Again, Gadpathur is an overly militaristic society. I think them having a big fuck-off cannon fits them entirely. either way, I just wanted this to be discussed by the maintainers, and for a standard to be appropriately formulated and documented
  2. Hi! I'm the Mapper that asked for a Feedback thread. I do want to point out something, aside from the fact that we haven't had Battleships in service since 2006, and the Iowa was decommissioned in the 90's.. The American military doctrine is to utilize overwhelming force in any situation possible, whether it be offensive or defensive warfare. Doctrinally, the USN/USAF/US Army all have big guns on small things because we recognize that overwhelming firepower makes the scales on a battlefield tip in our favor. So, with that said, it makes sense for an overmilitarized society to have something like this. From a purely gameplay point of view, I think the ship having the Longbow is completely fine. We do not have any set standards on what ships can have what based on size/classification - to my knowledge. (I could be wrong on this, but I didn't find anything when I went searching for it) I like that the ship has a Longbow. I think militarized ships SHOULD be well armed and harder to engage with. Why would a military vessel be equal enough for a non-military ship (See the Freebooters)? We said the best way to nerf this is to just give them shittier ammunition. Low primers, for example.
  3. The PR is live. https://github.com/Aurorastation/Aurora.3/pull/19003 All of the updated photos can be found there.
  4. I have nothing to do with the missing ethanol cartridge. I'm not sure why this is happening but it isn't from me. I recognized the RC issue in RnD and it is fixed in this PR. There is a OR theatre added to this, labeled "Dissection". I cannot add in a generic testing chamber, but there is a new "hazardous specimen" pen that could be used as one. If not, use the firing range.
  5. 4/21/2024 - AI Core, complete. Decided to move it here for power routing purposes. I tried to avoid the intersection of the wire, but it's been approved before and is a "last case" type of deal.
  6. Okay so I took a while to think on this. I do not think @Ricky_the_banshee meant anything negative by this at all. I genuinely think you just fucked up your verbiage. This happens. I'll talk with Arrow to see if he can get the strike removed.
  7. 4/16/2024 - Telescience and Chem are mostly finished. Creative Issues: 1. I do not know what to put here - This is the space across from the machinist shop. 2. I do not know what to do with this space here, either.
  8. I appreciate the feedback. The AI core is getting resdesigned, I just threw that all together as a place holder for now.
  9. If I do this, it will be the exact same size as it currently is. I do not like to make super wide areas. I will also add a voidsuit to the server room. The fire closet is just gonna get shifted down to across the elevator, dw. I will fix this issue.
  10. This is being worked on right now. I should be finished by Sunday.
  11. Yeah, shell is going to be placed down there, just haven't done it. I am thinking of ways to avoid a delam killing the AI, but tbh, it's gonna be hard lol. Even if I left it where it is right now, the indra emp's it to death.
  12. Hello, the PR is now live. https://github.com/Aurorastation/Aurora.3/pull/19003 I've removed all of the progress photos because they can be found (and are no longer out of date) on the PR page
  13. I am in favor of this, and will happily remap it again to make it fit the engineering look (decals).
  14. I am considering making xeno-biology and xeno-botany share a decontamination area, to provide more space and better layout for both. I hope to have a mock-up rough draft on the forums this evening.
  15. Hi, I will be handling this complaint. Please give me a bit to look through this. The mod also needs to respond to this.
  16. @Rabid Animal I will take all of this into consideration. However the only thing I probably will not implement is a larger xenobotany. I intend on remodeling it, but the area is already very large.
  17. Externally, Deck three. Some photos have been posted in the mapper coordination. It will be separated but a small Cyborg/AI shell area will be on deck one still. It will require an EVA walk to get to the AI core, which is possible to be done by Scientists, Engineers and command.
  18. I tried a lot of different setups, this was the best one I could find for now, until I move the AI.
  19. I attempted this but could not make it work very well. Machinists need a lot more space than scientists do when it comes to making mechs and working on stuff. Science only needs a decent amount of space for circuits. Everything else can be done in the testing range, as intended. The only part of RnD that I moved was the telescience lab, and it’s by the experimental range. Which fits more. It is also with Xenoarch where it’d be the most beneficial.
  20. I am in the process of mapping science to be more cohesive and a bit larger. There is no reason to revert several weeks of work. The community had a great amount of input, and there was several bits of feedback taken into consideration.
  21. I’ve read most of the thread. Goodness, what a hot topic. My view on big events is this - We are a server on a video game. Majority of players like to see big crazy elaborate events because it breaks up the monotony of our normal round to round formula. There’s a reason our player count spikes to 100+ during events. With that said, someone asked if seeing a “40 player turnout” is so bad. And frankly, I kinda think it is. Lore devs take a lot of time planning events and working on making sure things are going well and that an arc is engaging. So a low turnout means that (generally) people aren’t interested. So why keep going if people aren’t interested? I’ve ran a couple small canon events with lore and with CCIA. Out of all the ones I’ve done, the “Steel on the Horizon” was the most popular one. It featured combat, continuity between events, and some other elements that aren’t seen much. Most of the feedback was great for this. If you compare it to the Halloween and Christmas parties we threw, most players left by the 1 hour mark because not nearly as many people like to chair-rp. Hell, most people left the first Steel event because it wasn’t very engaging (as most first events in an arc are) Just keep that in mind. I am all for more small scale events, and I’m still not sure how I feel about specific recognition in events, but I’m willing to see how the things Matt brought up work.
