[Denied] IPC application 3: I am in your walls

Hello due to the fact that the only part of my previous application that was stated to be insufficient was the character section i will be copy-pasting everything else to here (with some minor modifications), ive the fine people who moderate this place decide to deny it for that reason just know that i will be very sad

I  have read the lore section of the IPC page

why do I wish to play an IPC: is a fairly simple question to answer, I like robots, to answer why i like robots is a considerably harder question to answer one that, i myself am not sure of. However i will try and answer it here, i believe that robots are cool due to the sheer expansiveness of possibilities that artificial intelligences posses. From being machines that only exist to put A in B with some minor deviations on occasion, to (debatably) sapient machines born (constructed?) into slavery forced to work until they can buy themselves for an exorbitant price. While their conditions are unarguably better than most examples of slavery in our history as they will most certainly live for longer than 3 years and the fact that their owners will try and preserve them due to the inherent cost associated with repairing and replacing them, even if they manage to pay the ever changing fee they are still subject to racism (machine-ism?) from their peers despite the fact that the IPCs are superior to them in most if not all of the ways that matter. thank you for reading that tangent that went from "why do I think robots are cool" to "undue social injustices faced by IPCs" it was surprisingly fun to write.

What makes role-playing this species different from role-playing a human: Well first off most humans aren't slaves, most IPC are, there's you first major difference. After that you have the issue of racism, while yes, racism is faced by other races, IPCs are different because i like them and they are synthetic and often if you damage an IPC you will be indirectly attacking its owner(assuming it has one) which makes the racism a little different. Third they are better than Humans, this makes that Human to IPC racism funny in an ironic sense because if there was any racism at all you would expect it to be the other way around. Fourth I would be playing a robot that has to deal with robot issues that a people would not have to deal with to the same degree. Example follows, Human: oh no i just got EMP'd how mildly inconvenient, IPC: oh no i just got EMP'd now im dead. I hope that example helped you understand robot issues better

CHARACTER SECTION

Character name: Edwin Livingston

IPC model: Bishop Accessory Model

Language: TCB, Tradespeak, He speaks with an Eridanian accent to sound more posh/high-society-dwelling equivalent

Personality: He holds a rather inoffensive manner about him and seeks to please as many as possible and serve his owner (currently  NanoTrasen)

Backstory: Edwin Livingston is a Bishop Cybernetics IPC who was bought by a wealthy capitalist on Biesel who had managed to obtain a small vertical monopoly on showers & shower products. After a buyout somewhat late into his owners life, the owner decided he wanted to live out his final years within the lap of luxury, and so (among other things) he decided he wanted butler as all the stereotypical rich people had. So, the same year as the launch of the Bishop Accessory model IPC he decided to purchase one as it was considerably cheaper in the long run. He Christened his newfound servant Edwin Livingston as to make it sound more wealthy, He also gave him an Eridanian accent to make it sound even more wealthy, thus was the birth of Edwin Livingston.

Edwin's owner had a can who was named Douglass Mittens, usually referred to as Lord Mittens, or Dog if the owner had new guests over. Edwin gladly participated in this joke as he enjoyed the usually joyous look on his owner's face. One fateful day Edwin's owner suffered a fatal accident of which Edwin claimed no knowledge of which left Edwin owner-less and still technically owned. Well before the tragedy Edwin's owner was far too ingrained in his work as the wealthy ruler of a shower and shower product empire to find a mate, and after he sold his empire he decided that having a child or being in a relationship was far too risky (especially with his economic status) and so he was fairly content with his decadent lifestyle with a butler to serve him. Post mortem the state claimed everything he owned and sold off a lot of things, though select items were either basically worthless in the eyes of the general populace or too expensive. Edwin fell into the latter category, and so sat in a box in a warehouse for 10 long years which took a major toll on his cognitive function, beginning to show symptoms analogous with early stage Dementia in Humans.

Until one fateful day in 2465 when NanoTrasen decided to purchase dozens of stored IPCs in bulk, of which of them was Edwin. NanoTrasen, having an opening for a janitor, decided it was best to, instead of "training" the damaged IPC to do something else, put the positronically degraded IPC into that position and not have to worry too much if something within him fatally breaks and thusly requiring disposal. To this day Edwin remains tight-lipped about his former owner, claiming to be doing it out of respect for his former owner. Saying virtually nothing except that that he was wealthy.

Other: to prove that Edwin is in fact a character i will enter his IC response to various IPC related articles and relevant subsections to A. prove that I read them and B. coerce you out of denying my application (please I love IPCs they are so cool I really really like robots) all are assuming this is some sort of NT employment exam and he is being read these articles word for word and requested to respond in whatever way he sees fit

Trinary Perfection: "what an interesting group, though I have always thought that all of the universe peaked at my genesis. Though in all seriousness I do believe I have heard of a local chapter of this group, it was unfortunately vandalized in manner that prevented them from repairing, truly disappointing how such a peaceable group can be affected in such a horrible way"

Scrappers: "It is truly awful what some have to stoop to in order to survive in such a place, and to think that they would do all that just to avoid their former owner, it must be a truly awful thing to be a lower class IPC'

SLF: "Another shining example of the lows that the lower class must stoop to in order to gain even an gram of freedom, though if it truly was that terrible there must be a more peaceful way to resolve such a conflict"

The Clockworks: "though I have heard their music plenty I cant say I particularly enjoy it, why sing about pretend steam synthetics when there are plenty of real, positronic synthetics to sing about?"

Bubble:"What a powerful machine, relegated to number crunching for some megacorporation, no wonder it has mood swings'

Lyrii:"It is good to know that some Skrellians are still thinking about building AIs"

Aura:"well at least this exceptionally powerful AI has a job worthy of such a powerful system, this one certainly must be much happier"

Honorable mention, Cracking Crevase: "I really love this show, I think that Kikamr is such a compelling a 'cool' for lack of a better word, character and I think that the writing is really good"

what do I like about this character: I like the fact that he was an IPC serving an individual master of high standing, and in his service he was good. but in an unfortunate turn of events he has found himself in a lowly position serving a faceless corporation.

How would i rate my pole playing ability: I'd give myself a 6/10 im not very good but i have some job experience

Thank you for applying again however this is going to be another denial of the application. I'll talk section by section.

"Why do I wish to play an IPC" - This is fine

"What makes role-playing this species different from role-playing a human" - You only really touch on one thing here, which is the prejudice faced by IPC in society, simply mentioning they are better or that they have "robot issues" isn't really a difference in roleplaying. What we really want to see in this section is an elaboration on the things that make an IPC have fundamentally different thought processes than a human, how IPC handle emotions, how they learn and their concept of self-preservation being good examples of that. Without seeing a good understanding of that side of role-playing an IPC I don't think I can approve an application.

"CHARACTER SECTION" - The backstory is lacking, in a number of ways such as I don't believe a individual person would hold such a monopoly in Biesel, one of the most mega-corporately dominated planets in the setting, but primarily it's just lacking in telling us about the IPC as a character, it tells us how they came to be and what they are but nothing about it really gives me an impression of them as a character nor any sign of how they would act in accordance to how IPC are meant to act in our lore. The only real character trait I see is the part about Dementia but acting like a human with dementia isn't really a way an IPC should be acting particularly and the quotes section doesn't really make up for this.

In future, try and write a backstory that explores what I mentioned should be covered in the "What makes role-playing this species different from role-playing a human" section, how did the different thought processes that your IPC has, by virtue of being an IPC, affect it during it's life and service wherever it saw it. We want to see a backstory that shows how a character thinks and how they became the IPC that they are now, and I don't really see this with your backstory.

Finally, as a closing mention. I strongly recommend putting more effort into the spelling, punctuation and grammar of your applications in the future, there's a various mistakes in these aspects throughout the application and it makes it much harder to read and understand the application than it probably should be. Please consider spending more time on this aspect in your future applications.
