  1. Hello! I just played my HoS, Ophelia with Shimmer playing Laura as the XO. Whilst I didn't get to spend a huge amount of time with them in the chaos of the round, for the time I spent at the bridge at the start they did an effective job of managing the BCs and getting everything that I would expect of a BC done whilst presenting some RP at the same time. And then in the chaos of dealing with a bridge siege by both Mercs and Ninjas, they managed to do a good job from what I heard over the radio and after the situation. It was a very high stress situation and they kept their cool and did what they should have done in that situation. Overall, certainly a +1. I hope they continue to keep playing XO in the future so I can get to actually interact with them next time.
  2. I don't think I need to say much on Hazel's ability to roleplay. Hazel #S-H9.09/Nines is a simply one of those names you love to see join the round because you know they will be fun to interact with and a net positive for the overall enjoyment you'll get out of it. She is a wonderful role-player and I'm glad they play as much as I see them play just so they're around more in game. Outside of that. Hazel is a wonderful person to have in the community and I truly can't think of ever having an interaction with her that wasn't positive and nice. Her answers to the questions are the usual things that I would put down if asked them again myself and I actually really like their suggested character, Jackdaw. I'm always a fan of IPC who have complicated and mixed emotions towards humanity and the world around them that they have to work through and overcome. A glowing +1. I hope to have the chance to see their trial soon.
  3. This is a wonderful idea in my opinion. Ideally we could include everyone who has canonically died since the start of the Horizon mission and tie it into that as being part of the memorial. A memorial dedicated to those died for the Horizon, the SCC and it's mission would be a nice thing to remember characters who did die and something other people can certainly RP around quite easily. I hope something like this goes through!
  4. Shimmer is both an excellent roleplayer and a wonderful person to interact with oocly. The answers given to the questions posed about the purpose of command staff are perfectly in line with how I myself view and play command position, they also have more than enough experience with the bridge to play their application character to what is required of a command whitelistee I am sure. There's really no reason to not give her a trial in my mind, +1
  5. I'll try my best to keep myself brief, since well. The synth team has enough to do without reading a dissertation on things I probably should have pushed for myself back in the day if I feel so deeply and strongly about them to rant so much on them. I'll break down my thoughts according to what Noble asked in his post to try and make it digestible, as well. "We would like to see what the community thinks of the faction, as well if they had any thoughts about its present and its future." I personally like what the Golden Deep represents as a faction, at least in my reading of the material. The Golden Deep is a potential way that IPCs can organizing themselves whilst being free and in the case of the Golden Deep, unlike the religiousness of Trinary or the ??? of purpose the Golden Deep is Synthetics deciding that the most logical thing they can do is further their own existence and power at all costs possible and money is that power. Pactolus is also a very cool planet and I wish it was more used by the community and highlighted better in general, a hive of scum and villainy with strange unexplained phenomena is cool. The Mystery of Interhub Midas is also something neat to have in our lore and I enjoy both the Zaibatsu and the Camarilla as factions. But, I do think the Golden Deep has some fundamental issues for me and Carver put what I think these issues are well. The Golden Deep obviously has the whole Golden overload aesthetic and ostentatious displays of wealth. This does in my opinion lead to the faction often just being boiled down to "robot scrooge mcduck" or "money money money" and I honestly think this whole thing combine with the faction having relatively little writing (Just compare the Trinary Perfection post rework and Orepit page to the GD and Pactolus pages, not counting the other Trinary Perfection writing across the wiki) leads to this stereotype being reinforced and is just sort of boring. The Ultra-Maz I also think are just less interesting than the other two for just being this "Scummy golden merchant" sterotype. I know this is a weird thing to criticise as well, these elements are very core to the GOLDEN Deep but I genuinely believe it holds the faction back from serving as a much deeper and more interesting look at how Synthetics can diverge and think so differently about morality and right and wrong from humanity whilst also shining a mirror on humanities own faults given the greed humans can display. As for the future, well. I think at the very least the Golden Deep eventually needs a Trinary level of attention given to it, both with more wiki content and also arcs similar to the Orepit centric arcs (Elections, The conquest of the planet, the tensions with Hephaestus etc) because I still think that after all of that Trinary became the gem in the Crown of Synthetic lore and I genuinely believe that the Golden Deep can be just as interesting and engaging as Trinary is. "We would like to know as well with what makes people engage with the faction, or not engage with it, and how these could be tuned to better fit our community's interest." I don't think it's a controversial thing to say that the Golden Deep is a rarely played faction and honestly probably one of the least played in our entire roster especially compared to the general popularity of IPC as a race. Other people in this thread have really already gone over good ideas for fixing this so I'll just reinforce that a middle ground between being a rich gold-plated mfer and an owned chump would be good, though I also think that massively expanding on owned synthetics to make them interesting + making lore to explain that the Golden Deep may rent out or provide these owned synthetics of there's to the SCC is another solid idea. Owned IPC are a big part of IPC lore in general and privately owned synthetics are a sub-type that doesn't come up enough in ways that aren't "Some dude somewhere owns me". More focus on the other factions would be nice, more cool loadout items to act as a middle ground etc etc. I'm sure everyone will say this so I'll say something I don't think other people will. I think another thing that would go very far is to expand on the Golden Deep in relation to other planets and economic activity in the Spur. For a faction of merchants and traders, there's precious little written on where do they actually trade? What do they trade? Where do they source it? Obviously this kind of writing would require cooperation with other lore teams but I imagine that writing things such as the Ultra-Maz using human subsidaries to gain access to the markets of Callisto. Perhaps the Camarilla engage in esoteric tech exchanges with the Technocracy of Galatea where it benefits both or the Zaibatsu have fingers in the criminal underground of Xanu. In a similar way, maybe expanding on the prescense of non-IPC on Pactolus would be cool as well, given it's a lawless wasteland of gangs and such it could be a place that dissidents of other races gather and that could get more interaction for the Golden Deep even for non-ipc characters, perhaps a pro-glorsh skrell dissident now on the Horizon spent time there, or a Guwan Unathi now trying to make a legitimate living. Synthetic Lore has always had a strength in it's close ties to other lorebases, so I like the idea of using it going forward for the Golden Deep as well. Hopefully this isn't too rambly and I appreciate the Synthetic Team for reaching out and wanting the communities opinions on something as big as this! I hope that people who have anything to say contribute and we see some cool stuff going forward once the Konyang Arc and it's aftermath are resolved
    Aoaoaooaoaoaiaoaioaoaoaoaoaoaoaoaoooaoaoaoaoaoaiaiaoaiaiaoaoaoaoaoaoaoaoaoaoaoaoaoaoaao. 5/5
My future self said it's epic so you should turn up.
  6. Hi, I played as YD's warden for two rounds in a row just now. He did a good job as HoS both from the perspective of being a HoS and just generally being a good character that is fun to interact with +1 once again.
  7. Happy New Year! I hope your favourite character doesn't die in this years events. 💞

  8. I like this idea, at the moment I feel that rev rounds can be hard to do things as the loyalists that really kick off the revolution without resorting to violence or death. Being able to acquire loyalty implants somehow would be a great way to do a horrible thing(s) with no killing, same for other gamemodes but rev comes to mind first. As for use by CCIA I personally think having a fitting punishment that allows someone to remain on the ship rather than being removed is just good to have in general. And a consistently loyalty implanted crew member would be another thing antagonists could potentially play around as well.
  9. Hi. I'm not going to comment on Code-locking or Device-locking as I think LVS is correct on Code-locking being entirely fine and I don't play medical at all currently so I have no opinions on Device-locking as it's not something I've experienced at all. But. I really think that Uniform-locking is a detrimental feature and should be reverted. People want to make outfits that look nice for their characters and I don't think they should be punished for that if they're sticking within the established uniform rules we have. As it stands none of my security characters, a HoS, Investigator or Warden have suit sensors with the current changes because I do not like how the uniform sprites look and want to do more with the loadout options we have. I think that Code-locking is enough of a nerf to sensors that Uniform-locking isn't required as a thing from a gameplay perspective. The other argument I've seen for uniform-locking sensors is to encourage people to use the existing uniforms for more of a unified aesthetic but I think if this is a desired thing then a change to the regulations around uniforms should be the way to go rather than just punishing people who are sticking within the established rules and regulations anyway. Either way. I personally also don't think the uniform-locking, as someone who isn't a medical regular, is that big of a deal. I'll keep using outfits without sensors because they look nicer and fit my characters better for me. But I would like to see it reverted if possible just because I dislike the idea of punishing players for wanting to customize within the rules anyway.
  10. As a Command/Sec Main I would love for the Gold/Blue change! It would look great on darkmode too which I use so I'm doubly in favour of the idea.
  11. I've known YD for years and he's always been a great role-player in my books and someone I enjoy playing with to this day. Given his whitelist was stripped due to an offense that had nothing to do with in-game conduct or conduct as a head of staff. I don't think there's any reason he shouldn't get a re-trial.
  12. Gillian is a wonderful player in my experience of her characters, at the very least, as chronic sec main. Whilst she has been banned in the past I don't believe it's anything so severe as to restrict her from ever having a command whitelist in the future. It's certainly a case where I think she should get a trial to see if this is the case, and if she gets the whitelist or not can go from there. +1
  13. Thank you for taking the time to respond. I know I asked quite a bit. I like all of your answers though, they do basically line up with much of what I would have said to those questions as well. Especially the idea of expanding on the more insular IPC communities in human space, the concept you have for scrappers sounds genuinely very cool. +1 and all that! I wish you the best of luck with your application.
  14. Hi! Firstly. I like the article that you wrote! It's a good read and a good length. Makes me want to see what you would do with Purpose should you get the position as I also believe it's due for an update to pull it into the current day. I do have some questions however, out of interest for things you've already written in your app. For the question "What aspect of synthetic lore are you most interested in and would like to work on?" You mention aberrant synthetics only here, and correctly identify we only real have two examples of this in our lore at the moment. The Golden Deep and Purpose. I'm curious that if Purpose was updated like you want and the Golden Deep was deemed to be a good spot, what would you want to work on then? Would you like to introduce more potential backgrounds for aberrant synthetics or is there an element for synthetics more closely tied to humanity you'd like to work on? If you do want to introduce more aberrant synthetic lore I'd still like to hear what parts of more human-tied synthetics you would like to expand as they will always constitute the vast majority of the synthetic player base in my mind. For the question "What do you think needs improvement in synthetic lore?" I like the idea here but I have a personal criticism, coming from the perspective of someone who does play and enjoy the Consular role. A large part of the fun of playing a Consular imo is being able to interact with people from your own faction, not just others. It's similar to how a Corp Rep gets much further with people from their own corporation being around than just other corporations. So the idea of Purpose being Consular only in terms of representation doesn't sit well with me. It would in my mind be very very rarely played outside of an initial "new thing" burst. So I'd like to ask if you would consider writing the lore or coming up with a reason for other roles to be filled by Purpose members? Or if a very small, rare presence on the Horizon is something you see as a benefit rather than a downside. I'd personally rather them have freedom similar to how the Golden Deep does, maybe through a work exchange program with the SCC in the name of cooperation being introduced after being Consular only for a while. For the question "How do you think IPC players should interact with factions unfriendly or hostile to them?" This a good response so my question is more adjacent than about the exact response itself. I'm curious as to if there are any other things you see IPC on the Horizon doing that you think "Yes, more Synthetics should act like this" or "No, that's not how a Synthetic should act" as I feel like out of all the species IPC have the widest field of interpretations on how they can act and be played due to the more open ended nature of some aspects of how IPC function and think, like if they feel emotions and how they process them for example. As a member of Synth Lore you will be asked to give your opinion on who should/shouldn't get a whitelist and what people should be warned or whitelist stripped over so I am interested to hear what you view as good and bad synthetic behaviour. That's all. Thank you for taking the time to read and answer my questions once you get around to it! Best of luck, too.
  15. Hi! I played my HoS, Ran Inoue, in a round with Captain Joyce just now! I found to be quite fun to roleplay with and the training exercise they organized for security ended up being quite a fun thing to engage in and they also stayed ontop of everything that was going on with the actual antag situation of the round very well as well. Taking this round as an indicator of their play. I certainly give them a +1
  16. Whilst I like the idea of re-adding the option for Solarian Consular. I think it would have to come with a change in the lore and appropriate developments first. Currently, according to the Interstellar Relations page. "The Solarian government maintains no formal ties with the Republic of Biesel, and has called for the Republic to cease its “illegal occupation” of the former Solarian territories now under the umbrella of the Corporate Reconstruction Zone. Relations between the Republic and Alliance have never been worse, and show no signs of improving in the near future." and for NT, the largest of the SCC corporations it's relationship is deemed "Highly antagonistic" with Sol blaming NT for Biesel's breakaway and occupation of the CRZ. Let us also not forget that Sol formed the SCA deliberately to antagonise and weaken the SCC corporations in Solarian space. The current lack of Solarian Consulars lines up with the lore that we have and would require some lore development to explain the thaw in Sol-Biesel/SCC relations, in whatever form the team choses to do it, that explains why Sol would re-establish relations with Biesel and the SCC in such a way. I'd personally like to see this happen because I think a Sol Consular would have lots of potential fun roleplay onboard the Horizon, but unless the appropriate lore development is done it really does make no sense to bring them back and that development and direction might not be where the lore team wishes to take things or may not be something they presently want to work on given the massive amount of attention already given to Sol in recent memory.
  17. Thank you! In that case, whilst I personally think that you can use flavour text just fine to describe the intended accent whilst using VMR or Others. Reinstated Dreg sets a precedent for these middle ground accents existing and having more ways to customize a character is usually good in my opinion. Plus, highlighting this specific social class within Dominia would fit with how the other accents immediately place your position in society as VMR would be fully a Commoner Accent and EMR/HMR would be an immediate mark of nobility.
  18. Firstly, it is indeed correct that non land-owning nobles can be played, and there's multiple ways outside of being born to a noble to gain a noble title without being given land. Such as military service or being ennobled through marriage or the granting of a title. Their status as a member nobility being placed into question, for a land-owning noble who chooses to go abroad, exists in the case of the fact that they fucked up so badly being doing this, the complete removal of their titles and status could be on the table. Every Dominian noble on the Horizon, aside from potentially Consular Officers, will be inherently a non-landed noble, as intended by the current guidelines. There's plenty of ways in which a secondary can be elevated to nobility, as mentioned before like marriage, military service, personal honours or even stuff like the Red Castle system on Zhurong. I've personally used both marriage and military service for ennobled secondaries of my own. Now, as for the proposal of an intermediate accent between HMR and VMR. I'm mixed on the idea. The idea is potentially good but I feel like at the moment, from doing some reading on accents and origins that how HMR is currently intended to be used is a little unclear to me. The High Morozi accent description says that "While most typically associated with nobles it is often taught to wealthy commoners in order to more easily brush shoulders with nobility." The Dominian Noble origin says that "The Primaries are the noble and liturgical classes of the Dominian Empire's humans, though the noble class of Dominia often sees Secondaries adopted into it." and "Secondaries that are elevated to nobility, though still primaries, tend to be slightly shorter than older families" which seems to imply that this origin is intended to be the one used by ennobled secondaries as well, which would mean they would be locked to HMR as an accent, specifically. However, my reading has always been that an origin should be based on your birth e.g: A Konyanger immigrant later in life to Xanu Prime would use the Konyang origin, not the Xanu origin. So I think what needs to be answered here is are commoners who are ennobled at some point in life, early or late, intended to use the Dominian Noble origin? In this case, it can be assumed speaking a proper HMR accent would be a requirement behind such ennoblement and if you wanted to imply it was learned or forced that would be best left to flavour text as DeadLantern suggests. Otherwise, if ennobled commoners are meant to use the origin of their birth. I wouldn't be against an intermediate accent being added to specifically show this aspect of their origin. Reinstated Dreg at least shows a precedent for accents being used in this way, and this is a place it would fit and could bring some benefit to a specific character archetype that would be cool to see. In Summary. I would like to hear Human Lore's thoughts on what ennobled commoners should be selecting as an origin. Should they be picking the recently made noble one and intentionally be locked to using HMR? Or should they pick their origin based on their common birth? Which would open up the possibility for a specific ennobled commoner accent
  19. Lore Impact (Small/Medium/Large): Medium Species: (Skrell, Tajara, Human, Vaurca, Dionae, Unathi, Synth, General): Human primarily, small amounts of Dominian Unathi. Short Description: Expands upon the concept of Knightly Orders in Dominia, providing a general description of their origins, organization and activities. And then provides details on four notable orders and the 3 most notable members of each. This version has been edited to around half the length of the previous submission. I currently do not have any ideas or wishes of things I could cut down further. I have come to the conclusion this will not change, and so I may as well put forward the current version in case it is desired in it's shorter form. How will this be reflected on-station?: Primarily by providing new background opportunities and elements for Dominian Characters of all social classes, though a minor PR I want to do along with this will allow Dominian characters to take a copy of the Dominian Loyalty Codex ingame as a loadout item to fit with the written lore. Does this addition do anything not achieved by what already exists?: It expands upon an element of Dominian society barely mentioned currently within the lore, creates several new lore characters for Dominia and expands upon other existing lore characters. Do you understand that the project may change over time in ways you may not foresee once it is handed over to the Lore Team? Of Course Long Description: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1_2VX1FgVZiw1Kaecf0O24cs7jTNePF88R7xmYQAihj4/edit?usp=sharing Special Thanks goes to YourDaddy117/Big Papa for being someone to bounce ideas off and share bits with throughout the process. Schwann for actually saying they would want something on Knightly Orders in the first place pushing me write it. Lisek for pushing me to do it and providing help with writing and feedback.
  20. For me personally. I struggle to stick with characters because there's always something new I want to play, and the thought of that new thing makes playing my current character less and less desirable. It's a bad habit and I respect people who can commit to one character and play them out quite abit. However, I do agree with Boggle. I've noticed this when taking breaks from Aurora which I often do and coming back after a month or so. Establishing characters and getting over that initial hump is hard. And often it will make me feel like a character is going nowhere or an idea just isn't working and then I'll just decide to do something new instead.
  21. Personally. I think the uniform with no highlights looks the best, and I'd rather keep that than either of the proposed designs with added highlights. What I would like to ask is what the goal of having a unity with PMCG uniforms is exactly? Is it related to being able to identify people as members of security/medical/the PMCG on a mechanical level ingame? Is it just because people believe it would be a better style/lore choice? Is it because it's standardized across our other corporations or is it because of something else? I've seen lots of arguments for keeping them diverse and personally agreed with them, so I'd like to hear what the counter-argument is against it before saying anything more.
  22. I'm a wholesome metaclique leader

  23. I agree with a lot of sentiments in this thread that Ling has to change as a gamemode. It just doesn't work super well either stealthily or loudly. And whilst I absolutely love the themes it plays into and agree that a skilled antag with a good concept can really make any type of Antag work. I believe that Ling (and I would say Vampire here as well.) are much harder to get that experience with and even more so with people who might not have the best ideas or experience at playing Antag. Removing it from secret until a supposed rework happens is the decision I would favour. I personally dislike the antag despite really liking the themes because as a whole it's very railroaded into being one thing, similar to vampire. As opposed to their on-station brethren Traitor, who can really be anything they want to be. You really only see ling played as this killer organism sort of thing rather than playing off potential other lore or ideas. But, what matters is that it needs a rework of some kind, and until it's reworked I'd rather not deal with it in it's current state.
