BYOND Key: Colfer
Character Names: System Control Computer (AI) \ Ka'Viax'Zoin C'thur \ Mostly maintenance drones (REX)
Species you are applying to play: Tajaran
What color do you plan on making your first alien character: Blue-Grey (RGB 34, 37, 50 / Hex #222532)
Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: Yes, I have re-read it multiple times, mostly to ensure everything I typed here is compliant after typing it

Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question.

Why do you wish to play this specific race:
I have been wanting to play tajara for a very long time but simply couldnt get around to reading the lore required for making an application, but after recent lore arcs and listening to tajaran players as well as seeing how they are played, and listening to their lore. I've gained a growing seed of interest in making a character for them, based off a character I had once made when I was whitelisted for tajarans on baystation (When those were still around). I'm interested in the dynamics between different tajaran ethnicities and different factions, such as what the ALA think of Ringspire PMC's and building up a story for the character I am making

Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human:
While humans do have unique interactions between groups and ethnicities, they are often times alot less dramatic or substantial than ones between tajarans, as the behaviors expressed by Zhan's may be dramatically different if they are talking to a human, or a Njarir'Akhran. Backgrounds of tajarans are often time related to Adhomai and the war in atleast one way, or many others. Even those born outside of Adhomai may have been born there because their parents had fled Adhomai to escape from the trouble. Tajarans also speak in third person, usually refering to their gender when speaking, such as "He did this" or "She says that"

Character Name: Nijaarrs Akhrrimer

Please provide a short backstory for this character

At birth, Nijaarrs was raised in a very traditional Zhan household beginning in 2420, with his mother being in agricultural work, and his father being in military and policing work. Initally, Nijaarrs began to take after his mother with a growing interest in gardening, but during the uprisings at around the time of the D'as'ral Massacre, their father had been slain when Nijaarrs was around 10 years old due to an explosive from indiscriminate bombings by nobles before the ceasefires.
Nijaarrs then believed that it was in both his mothers, and his own interest to switch from his agricultural aspirations, to military service to help stabilize adhomai, taking up as much education, training, and assistance from friends as he could, eventually serving as a soldier at around 20 years of age in the year 2440, serving in the PRA and eventually making it to a low ranking general before the second revolution in 2451, at about 31 years old.
After the new laws that had been passed that punished Zhan-Khazan, Nijaarrs quickly used his amassed money from his service to quietly defect to the ALA with other military generals of the time, moving him and his family to Shungsta, and eventually overseas towards Cervus where he would stay, offer military advice and information, but eventually settle down and begin raising a family at 42 years old. Due to the demands of his family, and his strategic efforts going unnoticed and lacking pay raises and bonuses because of his ethnicity, Nijaarrs was forced to accept a labor deal with Nanotrasen and the SCC as a hydroponicist to afford to support both his now old and weakened mother, and his new family.

What do you like about this character?
Its probably the most based in lore character I've made, I like the possible interactions they would have with members of the PRA and Njarir'Akhran tajarans, who he believes wronged him in the past, this character is also one of the few that I've made who has a pre-existing marriage and a family in all my time of SS13, and I would like to explore that aspect of their personality being a family oriented man, and the worries and such that come from that.

How would you rate your role-playing ability?
Varying between 6 - 8 depending on mood/passion, usually 7.

Additional notes:
Meow meow meow nya
The lackluster character list is because I kind of stopped playing all the ones I used to about a year ago when I left and deleted them, but I've gotten back into the grove of wanting to play complex characters outside of just AI and drones, and want to kick it off by making a tajaran

Cool kitty-cat app!

I'm sure some people with their finger on the pulse will have better questions, but a few things leap out that I'm curious about.

Firstly, some areas are confusing.

You state he was born in 2420, and yet his father was killed around the time of the D'as'ral Massacre. The Massacre took place in 2421, meaning Nijaarrs would be one, not ten at the time. Unless I'm understanding you wrong.

As a reminder, the first revolution ended in 2431, and the second ended 2461. Furthermore, I feel it would be a bit hard for a (seemingly) average Zhan to go from being a farmer to a full-blown general, especially during a period of time when the PRA still growing into itself (since this is supposed to be during First Revolution).

In turn, this raises an issue too. If he's a General, and a Zhan at that, I don't know if there'd be a way for him to quietly defect to the ALA, especially considering the event that formed the ALA.

Who is he offering advice to and why them? Why did he decide on Crevus of all places, given that it's so vastly engulfed in crime? This could be really interesting to delve into, but as it stands there isn't enough to explore.

And is he religious at all? I didn't see it mentioned anywhere in the app.

Overall, the idea could be fun but it looks like you have mixed up some of your dates (which honestly, got me questioning if I'm just going crazy lol), and some of your concepts don't feel super fleshed out in my opinion.

Their father died in the uprisings that occured "around the time", years after the inital D'as'ral Massacre when they were ten. Not quite "immediately during" the massacre.

They were motivated by the death of their father and traditional family living to enter military service with a burning passion to make adhomai a better place, starting military education and unofficially training for it at around 10 years old. They werent "A farmer" in any official capacity, more so dabbling in it as they were taking after their mother. (EDIT: Education being more so whatever they could get their hands on until they could enter the military formally)

This is a part of the background I havent fully covered on all my bases, I would like to imagine this is why they need money in the first place, as they spent alot of their savings for safe passage out of PRA and towards safer lands for their family and themselves, an act that would eventually result in their financial struggle currently, demanding them to leave adhomai to search for more well paying opprotunities

probably Ahem Kah'nrir, the  Junta leader of Shungsta, giving alot of their military information and expertise to them for safe passage to Crevus, he decided on crevus mostly because of fatigue of living in Shungsta after the refugee flood and just wanting to stop moving across the world and settle down in the first place thats presentable and livable away from the majority of the conflict

Yes, I had rewritten the application and both times I didnt know where to put the religious stuff in, they, their parents, and their current family worship Ma'ta'ke Gods, more focusing on Marryam and the importance of raising a good family

Its true that a few things here are handwavey away like "how did they escape the PRA". The idea is that they were a low ranking general that more so offered intelligent planning and thinking, and some troop coordination, but werent in any major positions due to their ethnicity as a Zhan, and would never be considered to be. I'd say the "How did they escape the PRA" angle is probably the weakest part of their backstory, where I don't actually have a concrete answer outside of them spending alot of money to get out as quick as possible during all the different policy changes and things that were happening at the time.

Some questions

How does Nijaarrs Akhrrimer see the PRA and the NKA?

Which Al'mariist school of thought does he sympathize the most with?

I think its pretty obvious that, being a defect, and also being the primary cause of his money problems (Since im planning for their lore to be that they blew alot of their money to get the hell out of dodge (their home)), that they do not like the PRA at all, and hate it, especially after he sees it as giving it his all, just to have them turn their backs on him, the memory of his father, and other zhan, after the more brutal laws being passed against zhan which increased their already present discrimination

As for the NKA, I think that Nijaarrs would be neutral to the NKA, maybe slightly disliking members of it, but nowhere near hating them as he does with the PRA. His main reason for not liking them is because of their idea that there should be one single leader of adhomai, but their reason for not hating them is that the NKA fought and battled against the PRA.

Moderate Al'mariism mostly because he strongly believes in freedom for all, and decentralization of power to prevent alot of the issues that plagued his life, and to let people live how they want to live (partially influenced by his time on Cervus), but he can understand and sympathize with Natediism even if he doesnt follow its principles, due to the fact that Nijaarrs dislikes the intrusive population of other races because of rumors, speculations, and strong indicators of their involvement in the war. Nijaarrs won't hate them, since Cervus is home to xenos, and it isn't unlikely that they have met and had positive experiences with non-tajarans, which could shape his opinion as well.
