What do you think the OOC purpose of a Head of Staff is, ingame?

The heads of staff are there for three reasons. First, they facilitate people getting what they need to be able to perform their roles, whether that be information, materials, weapons, or access. Second, they act as a sort of guide for the learning roles, helping to teach them the basics of the roles. Third, they act as a primary driver of larger-scale events on the ship, from leading an expedition to mediating disputes among coworkers, to giving the antags someone who will play along (within reason)

 

What do you think the OOC responsibilities of Whitelisted players are to other players, and how would you strive to uphold them?

The OOC responsibilities of whitelisted players are to demonstrate good RP and help the round’s story to advance however they can. This can be playing along with Antags, creating RP scenarios that allow other players to shine, or helping others enjoy their round through immersion.

 

Explain how the recent events in the Spur changed your character and how they came to be employed on the SCCV Horizon.

Bianca Rubio was, for quite some time, a member of the MDF. As the Tau Ceti Foreign Legion moved in, she found her role of data analyst being pushed farther and farther away from any meaningful tasks, until the TCAF replaced the Foreign Legion, when she caught the attention of one of the new commanding officers. Seeing potential to get away from the combat, she signed aboard with the SCC as a director of research, focusing on xenological signals and data computation.

You seem like a really fun person, and some of the roleplay I've had with you has been really enjoyable. I think you've gained some valuable collaborative writing insight over the past couple of months on Aurora. I don't think I can really recommend you for Command, though, because they're high-stress roles and you don't have a lot of experience calling shots.

I've also noticed you tend to act impulsively, particularly in combat scenarios. You do stuff like rush into a bunch of danger and get owned super hard; even if you intend to play just a research director, having a command whitelist generally means you don't do stuff like rushing into scenarios that could be dangerous.

I would -1 this app for now. I think you should get mechanically better at the game, do more with your characters, and do things that push your boundaries as a writer more. Most of these come naturally with time and experience! Observe the roleplayers that you really like, and the ones that you don't; what do you think they do well/poorly?

I don't know how I feel about Gilt in command, but a trial would much better help me to understand how they act with authority. You tend to rush into battle when that's not something you can do as a command member most of the time, but I think it's possible for all my worries to be overshadowed by having an understanding of what the command position is (which is how I learned to stop rushing myself).

 

+1 for a trial. Gotta see that first before I give detailed opinions.

I generally don't actually like to respond to my friends apps, because it always feels like my feedback, unless it's negative, will come off as disingenuous. 

Gilt is a good roleplayer and thinks about their characters pretty heavily. Sometimes they have slipped up, but I do genuinely think it's not for the sake of fragging, but just- bad timing and taking antag assistance too far. She does push the line for believability at times due to this, but i think a trial will forge the imperfections out. It could also show us that maybe command just isn't right for Gilt, we'll only know by trying.
