Yes, I’ve made sure to read the lore page carefully as recommended by other Tajara players since a mere explanation wouldn’t do it justice. (And they were correct, it was QUITE the essay)

Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question.

 

Why do you wish to play this specific race:

The Tajara are a species I’ve also had a mild fascination towards for their history reflecting a rather dark side of their Human counterparts, where biological factors like ethnicity and one’s blood effectively decided their role in society, from hunter (M’sai), to workforce (Zhan-Khazan) to even Rulers (Njarar). My favorite bit of the Tajara is also their current situation. The planet is by the Spur’s standards, a “mess”. It’s a singular planet divided in several planetary nations which all ideologically oppose each other (the PRA and DPRA’s emphasis on “the will of the people'' but both having different interpretations of how this dream is to be realized) and the NKA which still holds on Adhomai’s tradition rooted in historical context of blood and nobility. They're also a largely understood species to their alien neighbors, with Humans most notably making false comparisons between their worlds, and allegories that don't fully relate to the Tajara's struggle on Adhomai.

 

Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human:

Large reason for what helped differentiate this species from Humans is their divisiveness, not just among themselves but in their greater part in the Spur’s history. Their homeplanet is the product of prejudice, and ethnic stereotyping resulting in centuries long social-ethnic castes preceding over others, which after all these years bursted out in possibly its most violent series of wars yet, and with the establishment of a completely unique government in the form of the PRA and DPRA.

 

On the other hand, Tajara seem to be incapable of escaping the struggle of being judged for what they are, be it in Sol with the Tajara bans as a result of bad apples among the many who sought to work and earn their keep fairly, to even in the “heart of diversity and opportunity” that is Biesel, where Little Adhomai continues to be tied to its roots and the reflections of their root culture continuously expresses through its daily life, as well as the violent gangs that control its streets. 

 

Suffice to say, the Tajara also contain many cultural and morally opposing views from most of the other Spur, to the point that their views on ethnicity and the roles they play are expected to be fixed (with even some notable, controversial opinions in regards to the roles of the sexes and non-traditional identities). 

 

And with all that, the Tajara in general continues to be an enigma to most of the Spur, oftentimes finding themselves mixed up with their rivals.

 

Character Name: Aymarr Aj’rabi’trir

Please provide a short backstory for this character

 

Aymarr, one of the earlier additions to the Aj’rabi’trir family, a typical Hharar family, was born in 2410 to a low-middle income household. His family made a considerable living off of hunting and butchery. His father worked in the meat industry, taking part in traditional hunting parties to collect meat to accommodate the more culturally traditional rural folk. In truth, his family lived a fairly decent lifestyle in the far reaches of the Khazan tundra.   His family of S'rand'marr worshippers largely believed in the role of the community in daily life, working alongside the other townspeople by offering meat produce services through traditionally prepared meat, ensuring food was ready for the festivities and contributing selflessly to those in need for as much as the local count permitted.  Due to his family’s long-established faith in S'rand'marr, Aymarr initially aspired to one day reach the ranks of the Sons of Dawn, Having acquired literature from a sympathetic acolyte on a pilgrimage passed the Mountains, Aymarr’s exceptional intellect served him in deciphering and understanding the core beliefs of its worshippers in a theological sense, but it also made him question the overreaching presence of the Nobility and their harse authority. Despite his growing loathing at the division brought by the nobility as well as the local count’s questionable decisions burdening the townsfolk with taxation, Aymarr followed the rest of his kin with a relenting that would only boil as time went on.  

 

In 2428, Aymarr enrolled at Kaltir Law Academy, hoping particularly for a degree in Philosophy and a minor degree in Law and Criminality. He had long since abandoned the dreams of becoming part of the clergy after witnessing the signs of brewing tensions sparking through his stay abroad. The continuous, albeit silent harassment of his Njarir peers had also made him question the faith’s strong promotion of selflessness and community when many in campus barely shared the selfsame kindness. However, the most shocking reveal that shook apart his beliefs apart  was the emergence of the Alien visitors that greeted Adhomai. The existence of these advanced, otherworldly entities tore apart his worldviews that were constructed by his life in the tundra and the limited educational system. He had grown to believe that Adhomai was withheld from a potential equal, or perhaps even greater than, their alien visitors so long as the nobility selfishly withheld its people’s potential through ethnic limitations. He would be one of many to heed the call to rally shortly after his graduation, partaking in the battles on the side as a revolutionary. However, due to his inexperience in warfare, he would instead partake in various guerilla attacks and gain experience in urban warfare as he fought along with fellow militia and the more organized Hadii-led military forces. While initially skeptical of a Njarir noble-led military force fighting on the side of a revolution, decade long combat and their impressionable feats during the campaign had gained Aymarr’s respect. He bore witness to the stratagem in full effect, and its efficient use of extraordinary weaponry, thus realizing what future could await Adhomai if the chains of the Nobility were severed for good. 

 

After the First Revolution, Aymarr became a citizen of the newly-established People’s Republic of Adhomai, and moved to Nal’tor to be closest to its heart. He joined the Hadiist Party in the hopes of assisting in the shared dream of a new, powerful modern nation to ALL Tajara. He would also enlist in the PRA’s Grand Army, becoming a part of its 37th Division 14th Brigade as an infantryman, and he would deploy his familiarity in urban warfare and guerilla tactics to provide needed reconnaissance. While his status as a party member exempted him from service, Aymarr believed in the defense of the state against any enemies. In the meantime Aymarr enjoyed the privileges of being a party member, marrying a librarian he had met during one of his brief stops at the state library of Nal’tor. 

 

The events leading to the Second Revolution came as a shock to him. He was swayed by the words of Njadrasanukii Hadii, having attributed a bitterness towards the Zhan and genuinely questioning whether they suffered from an “inability” to restrain their “violent” nature, a stark contrast to the more hopeful young man he once was. The outcome of the Second Revolution and the existence of the DPRA was the Republic's greatest mistake. He regards the DPRA in both its name and execution as a farce intended to fool its masses into believing its democratic system is intended to benefit them, whilst the opportunistic junta persists and continues to be a potential threat. Regardless, they hardly outshine the true threat that exists in the form of the NKA, a Kingdom so decrepit and representing everything he loathed about the “old order”. However, Aymarr remains optimistic about the future of the Republic and the Party, and in due time, both the NKA and DPRA would wave the flags of Adhomai’s destined government. Aymarr has long since retired from active duty, and began working instead as a politician in foreign relations. He believes that it is the PRA’s future to guide Tajara across the sea of stars, and he would want for their neighbors to know so.

 

What do you like about this character?

What I’ll enjoy the most about portraying this character is part of his theatrics while portraying himself as a diplomat on behalf of the party, while balancing out the decrepit old fool that shamefully hides behind it all. Deep down, he longs to see the dream of a united Adhomai in his lifetime, but the recent shock of the Second Revolution has since shattered that dream. He portrays himself as the friendly uncle any citizen can confide to in need of help, but he is not afraid to handle that which proves a threat to the People’s Republic, the Party or his fellow comrades. 

 

Hopefully he can be a nice bridge between the Crew and the PRA, therefor reminding them of what the PRA stands for while simultaneously having some thoughtful interactions with fellow Tajara, or even rivalries with those of the “Nobility’s last stronghold” or “the Terrorists”.
