Cloned Creature Posted October 28, 2023 Posted October 28, 2023 BYOND Key: Cloned Creature Character Names: Za'Akaix'Kons K'lax, Za'Akaix'Terhe Zo'ra Species you are applying to play: IPC What color do you plan on making your first alien character: Exempt (IPC) Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: Yes, I have. Please provide well-articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question. Why do you wish to play this specific race: IPCs are extremely diverse, from the poorest owned baseline to the richest golden-deep member. The variety of backgrounds and their differences from other species allow unique interactions, opening the way for many potential roleplay opportunities and character-creating opportunities. It would be very interesting to act out and develop a character who is non-organic, or one who slowly makes their way up through the pit of debt to set themselves free. Another option is an IPC that is already free, possibly one that has been in society for quite a while and learned its ways. Overall, IPCs interest me greatly and present new ways to interact with others and their characters. Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: (One Paragraph minimum) IPCs are incredibly different from humans and other species, and they show that in obvious ways and not-so-obvious ways. The easiest to see is the non-organic nature of an IPC, evident with the more physical parts, and their replacement of the brain with a Positronic one. Or maybe the inability to experience pain leads to a gap in understanding emotions between organics and IPCs. Other less-physical differences include their way of thinking. Everything an IPC does has an underlying cause to it, using rationality as its main basis- contrasting the very irrational thinking of organics. Character Name: Cytis Please provide a short backstory for this character (Approximately two paragraphs) The free baseline model positronic designated "Cytis" was manufactured on the planet of Xanu Prime in 2419. Constructed to be a Surgeon, Cytis would find ample work that provided them with a near-constant cash flow through the application of surgical knowledge. Over many years, they would develop many memories which shaped their personality. From IPC friends to human supporters, they would make it through the discrimination and the severely stacked odds. One especially significant supporter was an IPC that belonged to Golden Deep, which they had traded with before, earning them a decent portion of their credits to freedom. Eventually, throughout the many years they have been functional, with some support along the way, and some simple side jobs, Cytis would save up enough credits to purchase themselves and become free, and promptly did. At this point, they would have realized they truly had no plan after becoming free. They did, however, hear of a mercantile faction by the name of Golden Deep. Soon they would make their way to the IPC they had done a lot of business with in the past, and -thankfully- this IPC was rather kind and was happy to endorse Cytis's membership into Golden Deep. Of course, they took this opportunity immediately and hopped aboard the IPCs ship, and made their way to the mothership- Midas. When they arrived, they quickly found a home there and would take up work performing surgeries to paying customers who arrived on the Midas. They found joy in helping, especially if it meant money- so they found themselves a job on the SCCV Horizon, where pay was guaranteed and not up to the randomness of unknown customers. What do you like about this character? (Describe what you like about this character) First of all, I love the Golden Deep's aesthetic and the desire for as many credits as they can earn. I wanted to make a character with these qualities, but never liked the gameplay of Merchant, but loved playing a Surgeon, and made a character in line with that. The Greek naming structure of Golden Deep inspired me to name my character "Cytis" "cell"- in Greek. Xanu Prime was a planet that interested me greatly and I had planned on making a human from there, but I ended up making an IPC-Cytis-. The last thing I like about Cytis is their willingness to help people, even if it is for a price. I plan on making Cytis less and less greedy and just more helpful towards people. How would you rate your role-playing ability? Fairly good. It has gotten better since the last application- 7/10.
The Stryker Posted October 28, 2023 Posted October 28, 2023 Hi, thanks for applying, just some concerns for the application. Quote Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: (One Paragraph minimum) Could you expand on this segment a bit more? You touch a lot on how IPCs are reason-based, but are there other ways that IPCs differ from humans? What about their origins, their place in the Spur? For example, how might they "feel" an emotion? Quote Please provide a short backstory for this character (Approximately two paragraphs) The backstory is well rounded but does not give enough of a picture of how Cytis is as a character? 46 years is a massive time for an IPC to be alive, surely they must have an input on many of the things in the Spur? Why do they find joy in helping people, for example? Why Golden Deep over just starting a private practice, for example?

Produced in 2419, would have been present and “alive” for quite a while, leading to many opinions being formed. Housed on Xanu Prime for the majority of it, Cytis would be influenced by eras such as The Doldrums, and the relief efforts towards Bursa. The Doldrums would mark a decrease in profits made by Cytis and almost led to them getting fired by their company, a scare which influenced Cytis to prioritize cash flow over everything else, even if their job was completely stable. The relief efforts towards Bursa were especially important, as for a time the company saw fit to send Cytis to Bursa with the intention to help with medical care for a few years, and perhaps take advantage of the need for it. Upon their return, they would gain a deep-seated hatred towards the Lii’dra, an emotion they had never experienced before. To the present, they are still trying to process what that emotion is, and why they feel it. 8 hours ago, The Stryker said: The backstory is well rounded but does not give enough of a picture of how Cytis is as a character? 46 years is a massive time for an IPC to be alive, surely they must have an input on many of the things in the Spur? Why do they find joy in helping people, for example? Why Golden Deep over just starting a private practice, for example? On Bursa, they witnessed the aftermath of the carnage that the Lii’dra wreaked upon the planet. They would perform surgery after surgery, most of them consisting of fixing long-lasting damage after the incursion. They would realize their endeavor here was pointless and the company had sent them to a place where almost no money could be effectively earned, due to the planet's state. Regardless, they were sent here by their owners, had a job to do, and would continue services. Eventually, they found themselves helping a man with injuries still lasting from the incursion, and seeing the state of this man, would refuse any payment he suggested and help him. Cytis does not know why they decided to opt out of the pay and help him, but for some reason, Cytis felt they did the right thing. Soon, many more people would flock to him, and he would refuse payment, always confused as to why he would spontaneously accept their pleas, but would soon start to understand that these people needed help, regardless of how rich or poor they were. When free, Cytis would join up with Golden Deep. Originally Cytis had planned to start a private practice but concluded that they would have to charge customers quite a lot in order to stay in operations, something which their time in Bursa disagreed with. Coming in contact with the Golden Deep merchant they had met before, they would learn of Midas and its ventures towards wherever profits brought it. While not agreeing with the money-hungry nature of Golden Deep, they would see many opportunities for their “Essential Surgeries” business. Upkeep would be relatively provided by Midas’s tools and utilities, which would allow them to prioritize earning enough to purchase basic tools, equipment, and everything they would need. The nomadic nature of the Midas also allowed Cytis to travel the stars in search of people to help.
