Species you are applying to play: IPC

Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: Yes

Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question.

Why do you wish to play this specific race:

The slang interests me it seems usable in roleplay and i have to admit it i saw some IPCs and i noticed they have some great roleplay so i figured if i became one mayhaps i could join it also has some very interesting lore and mechanics and the entire part about how they act different from humans caught my eye the backstory for a synthetic is also easier to make then a bug and i also like the not feeling pain part because roleplaying pain is hard to do mainly though its the behaviour being the easiest "in my opinion" to roleplay

Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: IPC’s do a lot different of things different from humans. IPC have slang for example they say Syn, Hu, Sk, Tj, Un, Vr, Di, and Anm which means Synthetics, Humans, Skrell, Tajara, Unathi, Vaurca, Dionaea as well as Anomalies. A important thing to note about IPC slang is that they mostly only use it in EAL. younger IPC’s tend to not understand human slang . IPC’s are also known to use words like affirmative and negative. IPCs dont feel pain so they wouldnt scream when they get hurt and if they do scream it is out of fear and newer IPCs wouldnt scream out of fear due to them not really knowing these types of reactions are a thing they could do as they start blank they as a species are also vulnerable to EMPs due to their mechanical body but they are not required to breath air. But despite this they need cooling to prevent them from overheating in space their lives IPCs are directed to keep themselves alive and safe aka self preservation but every IPC goes at this goal differently this could mean a security officer IPC could be going at it by removing threats from their location but a janitor would likely hide in the case of a threat and some IPCs are not designed to be able to socalise and mimic humanoids and as such will not seem very natural to humans IPCs in general are discriminate against most companies its really hard to get their own freedom but when it comes to hephaetus they are pretty good at it not paying them and when they would have gained enough money to buy their freedom they are allowed to try to get their own freedom if they succeed and stay with the company they will get paid IPCs learn through memories and experienced combined with datapacks datapacks are packs of informations that is either uploaded to a shell or Positronic Brain Directly

Character Name:Alpha-16

Please provide a short backstory for this character

Alpha-16 was manufactured on 2455/12/12 by Hephaestus and worked for Hephaestus and worked in Biesel. Alpha was given a Baseline Model IPC frame for work. For a while, Alpha would scavenge old shipwrecks with other IPCs. Eventually, they were sent to a moon to mine. Their job was to maintain the reactor in the base so the other IPCs could continue to mine.

The transfer happened because of the unnecessary amount of scavengers already present in that system. They decided Alpha was less efficient in that regard. They gave Alpha a data pack for engineering and quickly shuttled them to the base,

where the position had recently opened up due to the previous maintainer getting destroyed by a few humans. The humans were fined for the costs it took to make another, and nothing more, Alpha thought that this was very unfair considering if the same thing had happened to a human they would be punished serverly.

The reason behind this job not being taken by a human was that the moon was very close to Tau Ceti’s star. It would be easier to only send IPCs to mine here. At some point, Alpha gained enough money to buy their freedom, and so they did. Alpha continued to work on this moon until they applied for the Horizon alpha did not want to work on the moon but it was their only choice or they would be fired and left to be alone in biesel which is a very dumb idea for a IPC alpha got the idea to buy their freedom when a second IPC was critically injured but not destroyed they figured it would be much safer for them and their shell if they were to obtain their freedom and leave to a safer location as quickly as possible the horizon was a safe place in their eyes.

They were accepted due to their experience running a reactor, despite Alpha's very little interactions with other species. Alpha was very unfamiliar with human slang. This is why Alpha experienced less discrimination, but it does not mean Alpha was not discriminated against.

Due to Alpha's arrangement, they never spent any time not working because they were important to the continued productivity of the mining base. However, they were not irreplaceable; they were simply forced to work nonstop.  Maintenance was both what Alpha looked forward to and hated going to, as they liked getting repaired but hated how the humans treated them. Alpha tended to be a nice synthetic but could be kind of straightforward at times due to not needing to interact with humans very much.

They had poor social skills when it came to communicating with humans, often remaining silent and following orders. This was also part of their goal of self-preservation, seeing it as easier and safer to simply follow orders unless it risked their shell.

There was a short delay between Alpha purchasing their freedom and going to the Horizon, but because they still worked for Hephaestus, they didn't get to explore the world.

During this time, they did see more humans, which, while not as bad as it was when they were a slave because they didn't own them anymore, translated into more violent measures. The repairs for these events were taken out of Alpha's paycheck. The main reason Alpha was discriminated against was that they were always rundown, and people liked to mess with them due to their less-than-fortunate issue with responding well to these people. Alpha often let it happen when they were a slave, and afterwards, they would ask it to stop, which they did not know only tempted them further.

What do you like about this character?

I like that they are a engineer for one because engineers are fun to play as and i also like their frame because i like the look of the baseline model i also enjoy how the backstory makes sense and is gives information  on why the horizon saw them as a good fit for the ship's crew and i enjoy the fact they are free also its highly important to note that they spent little time around humans and as such does not know much human slang or emotional displays and because it's a pretty stable character and a good intro character into the species making my life easier and in my experience the application is the huge boost into the roleplay of the species but the practice in round is what truly makes a player a IPC

How would you rate your role-playing ability?: im moderately good i have been improving

Notes: thanks to the lore devs who helped me with this “Stryker and Syc mainly” and thank you lancer for giving me a good place to begin expanding my backstory

There was a distinct change in Alpha's behavior specifically they began to act calmer around humans treating them as closer to equals rather than masters before they would likely be quick and do everything they were told but after they only do something if they feel it is in their best interest which does account for the emotions of the other this also is shown by the fact alpha began to mimic human behaviors like slang and will change their behavior depending on the individual to become more likable this is an updated way on how they act on self-preservation which is currently

“seeing it as easier and safer to simply follow orders unless it risked their shell. and mimicking human behaviors to become more likable”
