Lilly Evans
BYOND key: Shajo Discord Username: vespergoldenrod Character names: Bumble & Bee (AI), Luna Nova (AI), Task, Raeze Srori, Rsair Akssohi, Naran Kholog, Juuri Xeouu'Quivii, Relshii'Zarq Juiqii-Yoi, Allesio D'Arco, Karivamyrr Vealis'alrrym, Myrravrah Hrro'Vidarri How long have you been playing on Aurora? 6-7 years, maybe a bit longer. Been off and on as life allows me to be here! Have you received any administrative actions? And how serious were they? There are two notations on my account that are warnings from 2018, one for SSD in office at round start and the other for cryo'ing with all my gear. Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph each. What do you think the OOC purpose of a Head of Staff is, ingame? The OOC purpose of a head of staff is to help the round flow, and I'll describe what I mean by that. Helping your departments and the crew as a whole achieve their goals for having fun for the round, acting as a communicator and point of contact during incidents, and ensuring that a gimmick doesn't get shut down right away so antags have a chance to do their thing and play their narrative. The second point of a head of staff is to add some reality to the departments, making them feel real and alive. Sometimes that comes down to paperwork, other times it's offering incentives and finding ways to facilitate what your department does or wants to do in a given round. Like for a chief engineer: Someone wants to learn more about outpost building, it could be you who decides to make a whole thing of it for engineering staff and take them off on a silly adventure for a time. To summarize: Communicate, Engage, and keep the round progressing in a fun manner. What do you think the OOC responsibilities of Whitelisted players are to other players, and how would you strive to uphold them? The OOC responsibilities of command players are a lot greater than those who don't take up the mantle. You're trusted to help guide the narrative that players bring to the table, enabling their chosen rp to the best of your ability. You're accepting that you have a lot of power that you can wield and are making a promise to not abuse it or other players. You're making a promise to help push a narrative and providing that touchstone in which the community can interact with and enhance their own roleplay. You are what can make or break an entire round through your choices of interaction and are promising you will be cautious with how you wield said power within the round. My thoughts on upholding this are quite simple and typically are set as being a community standard: Don't be a turd, be considerate, and be thoughtful. When it comes to interactions with characters, just because something seems fishy doesn't mean we should jump on it right away. Sometimes you need to overlook things for sake of a greater narrative and watch how they play out. I would seek to find their interests, what drives them as the characters they play, and try to work with that in a way that enhances their own roleplay through being allowed a greater ability to be the character they want to be. With antags especially, I will be considerate and patient. I will allow them more leeway to get away with things and present their narrative until such a time as action is forced into play against them. (See how I've been handling antags with my ai's lately, flicking lights or taking photos rather than calling them out instantly, giving them time to slip away and cause more mischief). And as always I would strive to simply be pleasant and approachable, especially if someone feels something is off, to find the best answer that continues driving story forward. Explain how the recent events in the Spur changed your character and how they came to be employed on the SCCV Horizon. Recent events in the spur have, for what affects Karivamyrr, have been relatively limited. The election of Torvald has caused her to swell with renewed pride as military spending has been increased (A popular opinion of hers which reflects the military advancements of the PRA, seeing it as a mirror of the PRA's own glory) and only strengthened her resolve and employment with NanoTrasen. The eclipse, on the other hand, cast a shadow over her that boded ill. A religious individual, she viewed the eclipse and its coming as a herald of darkness and felt it more deeply as she was aboard the Horizon at the time. It's given her a new perspective of the cosmos, that no matter where she is… Raskara's shadow can still reach her, which has only pushed her to be more deeply faithful. These events have, for the most part, truly solidified her opinion on the SCC as a whole and was one of the main reasons she finally came to work for NanoTrasen. The bond between NT and the PRA being what it is, there was little other logical path for high career advancement. What roles do you plan on playing after the application is accepted? Executive Officer, Research Director. May work in a consular some day but that's not a short term goal. Have you familiarized yourself with the wiki pages for the command roles? You bet! Characters you intend to use for command or have created for command. Include the job they will be taking: Karivamyrr, Relshii-Zarq Do you understand your whitelist is not permanent, and may be stripped following continuous administrative action? Yes Have you linked your BYOND account to the Forums? Yup! Extra notes: I don't play on weekends so if you're going to trial me, please extend the time so it basically 'skips' over the weekend (If it would be 5 days starting on a friday, please make it 7). I only play monday-friday. It's possible I misunderstood the 'recent events' question as well, please let me know if you wish further information on this and I am super happy to go into more detail! We'd like to hear a bit more about your character(s) that you are applying to use as command characters. Just general info about them, any recent events in the Spur that were relevant to them. How these events have impacted them, in any way. And we would like to hear about how your character made it to the Horizon. How did they come about their command position here? Just general information. We mainly want to see that you put at least some thought into fleshing out your character a bit. Quote Link to comment
Lilly Evans Posted Friday at 16:37 Author Share Posted Friday at 16:37 Thanks for clarifying! Relshii'Zarq Juiqii-Yoi was born to the quya of Zarq'piqarii Yoi-Tiipis, a Nralakk Federation Consular who currently serves on board the SCCV Horizon around the year of 2395. Being born to a primary was no small privilege, but carried the great weight of expectation upon their shoulders to excel above others. One of their greatest motivators through their schooling was their Qraa'Myaq, Zarq'piqarii, who they admired for their work with other species across the cosmos and became a defining focus in their life. Seeking to emulate the great biologists of the Federation and finding their own path, Relshii-Zarq took the first opportunity to utilize the work exchange program through Zeng-Hu in order to experience alien cultures first hand, record their experiences, and eventually fill the shoes they felt were left for them by Zarq'piqarii. A Qro'vesi of Xenobiology and Archaeology (The study of historical artifacts, not anomalous items), their primary focus has been the study of xeno-societies both present and historical to continue mapping the unknown histories of species that have been wiped from the records. The chance to serve aboard the SCCV Horizon has been a gift for Relshii'Zarq, as it's allowed them to do something truly unique: Witness nearly every creed and type of people in the cosmos working together in one place. This has been a cultural experience unlike any other, one they frequently write home about, and work to understand the social interactions that take place in the hopes the Horizon might reveal a hint for universal peace between peoples. At present, Relshii'Zarq is seeking to become a Qu'vesi and is undertaking remote courses in Political Science with supplementary in Medicine to accent their knowledge of xenobiology. Slimes have become almost of a 'pet' to them, a loving thing they enjoy working with when the chance to study other species is not easily undertaken. Command came to them after seeking to take the next steps in their path to emulate the greatness of their much loved Qraa'Myaq: They began taking on Interim duties in order to understand the greater Research department and showing greater leadership capability than they even know they were capable. Most of this came through the monitoring and care of a scientist on staff who had memory issues (ScienceTM, I'm sorry I forget your name it's been a hot minute!) and working to ensure they received care while also working towards enabling their wonderous experiments. A natural leader taken note of by command on more than one occasion, they decided to take the next step and formally request evaluation for advancement. The election of Torvald has caused a slight shift in Relshii's opinion of Biesel, viewing them as regressive to the advancement of society and publicly speaking out against the replacement of the Vaurcan Affairs office with a non-vaurcan. Relshii has begun working more closely with Vaurcan staff, especially the Zo'rane hive as they are able, to see what assistance these peoples need and how they might be able to provide it (Or send missives to the Federation regarding the status of the Vaurca and possible efforts to aid a struggling peoples). They became, as a Qeblak worshipper, extremely interested in the eclipse of adhomai and the lore surrounding it and took time off to try and book passage to Crevus to witness the event first hand and record it to send to the Starkeepers. __ Karivamyrr Vealis'alrrym is, as she would describe it, a patriot. A Njarir who grew up in Little Adhomai after her family fled at the end of the first civil war, she was not well received by many of her neighbors and often treated with hostility and shoved to the side in favor of others. This was a rough upbringing until a group of Hadiists began to show an interest in her and she became a pet project of theirs: Can the Njarir be turned into a loyalist? What began as a swift indoctrination into the Hadiist methodology turned into true belief in the system. Word from Adhomai about all the wonders that the PRA was performing for their people, industrialization, canned goods, radios, and more... It was all too much to hope for! Seeing the failed reign of the nobility with disgust, Karivamyrr threw herself fully into becoming an advocate for Hadiism, going so far as to join the Hadiist Party of Biesel and becoming a strong advocate for Hadiism across the galaxy as the one true path towards advanced society. During her time in Little Adhomai she rapidly shifted from server to entertainer of a modest lounge, taking to the stage to sing and entertain the crowds after a long days work. Her education came from a trip to Adhomai, in which she accepted another managerial position at an establishment called The People's Choice, handling finances and keeping it operational while she went to college. During her college years she became involved in the local government scene, handing out flyers and volunteering for numerous events (And even performing at a few!) in order to help government projects. Her work and dedication, and the success she helped yield, was awarded upon her graduation with an honorary party membership which she wars with pride to this day. Her promotion to XO came from her hard work in the bars and a willingness to take on additional duties when crew were not present in the kitchen, taking up both spaces and working hard to ensure a fully functional ship and a happy crew. She has volunteered to take up interim several times, learning the ins and outs of ship board finances, access requests, and more. This dedication to learning has not gone unnoticed by the Captains she's served under and is what has awarded her the chance to seek her promotion into the highest echelon she will ever attain in the SCC. The election of Torvald was saw, in her eyes, as a good thing. The staunch conservatism and placing 'the right people in the right position' aligned well with her own mentality instead of a symbolic choice in government offices. The increase in military spending has saw her beginning to volunteer for remote PR campaigns, creating propaganda for Torvald to help with public image and ease the transition into what she believes is a "More right, though it's not Hadiism, method of governance". The eclipse brought no small amount of fear to her, being a religious individual, and caused her to request time off for the event so she could spend it in prayer with a sun sister. The rumors of Hadiist operations during the eclipse are seeing as merely part of routine 'society janitorial duty' and rooting out dissident elements. She barely batted an eye at this and tends to have a sharp tongue with anyone who brings it up to 'drop it if they know what is good for them' style of conversation. Quote Link to comment
Owen Posted Friday at 21:29 Share Posted Friday at 21:29 On trial until 23 November 2024. Even with you being unable to play on weekends, I do not think giving a pre-emptive extension is needed at the moment. If, by the time we get to the end of the trial, we feel you need more feedback/playtime, we'll give you an extension. Otherwise, you should be fine just playing your normal weekday times, no need to stress about it. Remember, you can advertise your application in OOC once per round to gather feedback. If you have any questions/concerns come up during your trial, feel free to reach out over Discord (owen2139). Good luck! Quote Link to comment

FlamingLily Posted Saturday at 04:48 Share Posted Saturday at 04:48 Just finished a shift with XO Kari, and I have to say, HUGE +1 from me. We had an offship dock for medical care but it was too little too late, and Kari was there speaking with the offship crew and coordinating with medical, getting documents and reports and just all around doing the types of things you'd expect an XO to do (while the captain stood back and watched). It was fantastic RP and really made things feel way more important than the usual. 1 Quote Link to comment
DrPockets Posted Saturday at 08:26 Share Posted Saturday at 08:26 +1 Recently had a shift where I interacted with them a lot. Ended the shift annoyed that I haven't interacted with their other characters more. Did a good job handling XO responsibilities in a complicated round. Good character, good at command responsibilities, easy approve in my books. 1 Quote Link to comment
Sneakyranger Posted Monday at 06:54 Share Posted Monday at 06:54 A good XO already. Get used to being more firm with regards to time sensitive things and crew (sometimes you just gotta put your foot down to make shit happen) and you'd probably be one of the top XOs in my book if the three or so rounds I had with you today are an indicator of future behavior. I'm a command main, so I'll give you a tip that you can feel free to ignore since technically I am just a random yahoo. Today, I would have kept control of the Intrepid mission at all costs - the delay from switching command over to the OM is what set off everything else, in my view (though you were more involved with it than I was). My two cents. Otherwise, great. Keep trying to keep the crew engaged. +1 1 Quote Link to comment
OolongCow Posted Monday at 06:58 Share Posted Monday at 06:58 +1 for sure. Their XO is one of the most consistently organized, helpful, proactive and professional people in the command department. Issues don't get dropped or people left out to dry asking for help on common with them around. I want shajo's trial to succeed for entirely selfish reasons: because it makes my life as a fellow command player much easier and more enjoyable. I also haven't seen them ever unreasonably screw over an antag, which is also nice to see. 1 Quote Link to comment
Captain Gecko Posted Monday at 21:04 Share Posted Monday at 21:04 Funny cat. Nothing bad to say about the actual commanding, and a nice roleplayer! Here is the +1 1 Quote Link to comment
DekserBecauseILostMyAccoun Posted Monday at 21:08 Share Posted Monday at 21:08 +1 I've played a few rounds with this character, and the XO has repeatedly been fun to play with. She gives a good amount of OOC leeway for antagonists and always seems attentive and focused on the round, I've never had any issues with this player or any of their characters and based on what I've seen, fully endorse this app. 👍 1 Quote Link to comment
ARandoDude Posted Monday at 21:09 Share Posted Monday at 21:09 Given i was busy running round managing medical and other matters that needed addressing as cmo i couldn't quite see what this XO was all about but when i got a few minutes to hang out with them in the command bar and a bit before hand they were pleasant to talk to and indeed did assist in co-ordinating the crew and the ship, So far a +1 from me aswell and they gelled well with Plaz's overall very sarcastic behavior out of medical, which is always nice to see. 1 Quote Link to comment
hazelmouse Posted Tuesday at 10:18 Share Posted Tuesday at 10:18 Karivamyrr is a very lively and active XO that leaves a footprint in every round she's in, and goes to lengths to support and pay attention to the service department in a way I wish more XOs did. I like her character and I enjoy seeing her on the manifest. +1 1 Quote Link to comment
JeffMomentRed
There is nothing I can say that hasn't already been said here. I echo the sentiments of the other player's remarks. +1 1 Quote Link to comment
Jaeger Brothers
Immidiate +1 I genuinely thought they already had their Command WL simply because they were so good, Interaction with Off-ships is 10/10, Interaction with crew 10/10, even during extended when a security problem happens they handle it well , Brother I'd give them a +2 if I could. Edit: Even when an Accident happened they were handling stuff well. Edited 8 hours ago by Jaeger Brothers 1 Quote Link to comment
