General Whitelist Requirements

What colour do you plan on making your first alien character?: Blue-Grey (#222532); a Zhan-Khazan.

Have you read the lore pages for the species you wish to be whitelisted for?: Yes, I have.

Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question.

Why do you wish to play this species?:

I've been eyeing the species for a while now, and in my eyes, it's one of the most interesting. The infighting they have within the species itself and the interaction with humans and other species make them a very interesting pick; the strong interplay of castes and three very distinctive and much different forms of government add strongly to the RP flavor of the species. And beyond all of that, I just want to play and experience interactions with the species as I wanted to with every other one I applied for. The unique interactions and relations you can make with other characters really make for an amazing time playing another species.s.

What makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a human?:

Well, firstly, you have the obvious: Tajara have much more unique and distinctive cultural backgrounds; as such, they also have much different societal norms. Added to that, you have the much different physical characteristics of the species: They have rather felinoid characteristics, best seen in the examples of them having low-light vision and semi-prehensile tails. Another rather obvious factor in regards to their culture is how they interact with Tajara from other governmental forms, how the relations build with Tajara from their own government, such as the others. Most Tajara have also not only heard about or seen but experienced war in the form of the second revolution first-hand, which strongly factors into their personality and how they view things. And well, the talking in third person.

Character Application

Character Name: Rakhim Jar'khazar

Write a backstory for your character. This may include their origin, education, personality and how they arrived to the SCCV Horizon.

Rakhim is Zhan-Khazan hailing from the rugged and worn-down industrial hub of Tampiska. Rakhim was born into and raised in a family with a strong work ethic and a deep respect, such as a loyalty towards the traditions and thoughts of the People's Republic. Though as a visionary Hadiist, Rakhim deviates with the thoughts into a direction of radical industrialization and progress - technology is crucial for the steps of superiority of the Party and the People's Republic as a whole, which he learned the hard way with the great hit his home city took during the second revolution.

Growing up, Rakhim showed a great interest and curiosity towards mechanical technology, which was largely influenced by his parents, leading him in that direction, his parents, who both were present in the industrial sector of Tampiska. Rakhim's father is a welder in one of the many automobile factories within the city of Tampiska, producing only the highest quality of welds for the car bodies and other pieces of supporting structure. Rakhim's mother too worked within the industrial sector of automobile production, though she worked within engine manufacturing, strongly focused on fluid dynamics and hydraulics. Whether it was at the table when eating or just within his free time around the family, each and every day they enlightened him about work and the happenings and told him how good of a worker he will be one day.

Growing up, Rakhim was a generally social and engaging person, though his parents kept him more in their circle, watching him grow into the worker he is now carefully and making sure only the thoughts they, and his university, the Tampiska Polytechnic University, want him to have. His parents always dreamed of him going to the TPU, as Rakhim's brother and only sibling did not quite make it; to their positive surprise, Rakhim has gotten and used his chance to study the complex workings of material engineering at the TPU. After dedicating all of his effort to studying and his social life slowly fading more and more, Rakhim has finally gotten his degree and worked within the sector of alloy casting and smithing. The hit on his social life was no issue for him in the long run, as he quickly integrated deeply with his colleagues and also maintained a focus on preserving family values and the social connections with him.

Fast-forward A few years into his job, suddenly the mood changes to be rather grim - the Second Revolution hails. Day by day goes by, and Rakhim is witness to all of his colleagues being reassigned to military production facilities all across the People's Republic. Not too long after, he too gets reassigned to a weaponry research and production facility in Al'mari. Given his degree, he was assigned to a post with a mix of both scientists and engineers, experimenting with alloys for defensive use, where he got to work roughly two years, up until the assassination of President Al'mari Hadii. It was a shock for him, but not only for him, the entirety of the People's Republic.

After the assassination of Al'mari Hadii and following the mass defections of naval officers a year later, Rakhim joined the Republican Navy of the People's Republic as a loyal naval engineer, where he served up until the end of the second revolution. The vessel that Rakhim served on was a supply and maintenance vessel acting as the support backbone of all other vessels in the fleet structure. After a long drag over the next eleven years, Rakhim gets to know a lot of new people, gets to see a lot of new places, and forms a lot of new thoughts. Though after everything, his enlistment abruptly ended where he briefly returned to reunite and live with his family, unemployed, up until when the horizon was built and near ready for commissioning - following a mass hiring action by the conglomerate and all of its affiliated corporations, Rakhim set foot on the Horizon as an engineer with Hephaestus Industries.

How has the recent events of the Orion Spur impacted your character? Events such as the Phoron Scarcity, the Solarian Collapse or even the Invasions of Biesel for interstellar-wide affairs, while region-specific events such as the Peacekeeper Mandate, The Titan Rises or even Cold Dawn may impact your character.

The Second Revolution, a grim time in the history of the People's Republic, has left a mark on Rakhim. The once-steady rhythm of his life in Tampiska was abruptly disrupted as the sudden change howled through the industrial heart of his homeland. The reassignment of his colleagues to military production facilities was a grim view and a suggestions of the trials to come, and when his own orders arrived, he found himself thrust right into the middle of conflict. In the weaponry research and production facility at Al'mari, Rakhim's skills were tested and trialed to the edge. The urgency of war demanded innovation and efficiency, but himself and his colleagues rose to the challenge. The assassination of President Al'mari Hadii was a shock that reverberated through the foundations of the People's Republic, and Rakhim felt the tremors in his own cultural view.

His enlistment in the Republican Navy was a turning point in his life, forging him into a steadfast and loyal engineer. He witnessed the horrors of war firsthand, but also the unyielding spirit of his comrades and the unbreakable bonds of camaraderie that formed in the face of adversity. The end of the Second Revolution left Rakhim with a deep sense of purpose and a renewed commitment to the ideals of the People's Republic, though he wanted to see even more than he has seen during wartime, he wanted to see and experience the spur.

How does your character view the megacorporation they work for?

Rakhim views Hephaestus Industries with a mixture of admiration and skepticism. He recognizes the corporation's significant role in advancing industrial capabilities, aligning with his own vision of radical industrialization and technological progress. However, he remains cautious, aware of the potential for such a powerful entity to prioritize profit over the well-being of the workers who drive its success. Though overall, Rakhim does not have any stronger and more solid views on the megacorporation, it's a necessary evil to take in for him to work aboard and experience the Horizon; without Hephaestus, he would not be here; he would not get the chance to see the spur the way he can aboard the Horizon, and for that, he has to thank nobody but the megacorporation for accepting him.
