ASmallCuteCat Posted June 2 Posted June 2 I wrote this app in a 3 hour binge session, please let me know if there's anything I need to correct or clarify! BYOND Ckey: ASmallCuteCat Discord username: revenant1367 Character names: Luna Li, Jay Elder, Asha Serek Species you are applying to play: Tajara ------------------------------ General Whitelist Requirements What colour do you plan on making your first alien character?: Blue-gray Have you read the lore pages for the species you wish to be whitelisted for?: Yes Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question. Why do you wish to play this species?: As my username may imply, I am rather fond of felines. I tend to play Khajiit whenever I play Elder Scrolls games. I've also been hitting a bit of a creative slump lately, and perhaps shaking things up by trying to learn the ins and outs of a new species will help me out of that slump. What makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a human?: As always with any alien species, there are different customs, beliefs, body language, and mannerisms to keep in mind while RPing. I think the main difference between Tajara and humans is that, while humans have a wide number of varying nations that may or may not get along, Tajaran society has three main factions that are at loggerheads, but held back from open warfare by an armistice. However, just like these human nations, the Tajaran factions have to work together and coexist while aboard the Horizon. I think the biggest hurdle I'll have with roleplaying a Tajara is remembering that they tend to speak in third person. ------------------------------ Character Application Character Name: Farrah Jhevrru'shr Write a backstory for your character. This may include their origin, education, personality and how they arrived to the SCCV Horizon. Farrah was born in the early years of the First Revolution. Her family, farmers of the Zhan-Khazan caste, barely managed to survive the worst of the civil war by keeping their heads down and throwing their lot in with the Das'nnra Resistance Movement as soon as their village was liberated. Still, Farrah lost her father, several siblings, and many relatives to the fighting. She benefitted greatly from the reforms made by Al'mari Hadii. She got to go to school, she learned how to read and write, and the technological advancements brought to Adhomai made her life and work much less of a struggle. When she reached adulthood, she got a job in a Nanotrasen factory, where she eventually met her husband. She resigned her position after having her first child, and settled down to be a loving mother and wife. The rumors about the New Kingdom of Adhomai worried her. She knew what nobility was capable of, all she had to do was think back to her life before the nobles of yesteryear were overthrown. Still, she had faith in President Hadii, and believed (hoped) that he would lead the People's Republic of Adhomai to victory over these New Kingdom upstarts. The Second Revolution changed her from happy homemaker to an worried, grieving widow. She worried what kind of world her children would grow to live in - would they be crushed beneath the bootheels of nobles once more, or would they be ruled by power-crazed rebels? Would they even survive? In 2458, her husband was conscripted into the PRA's army, her oldest son was conscripted the following year. Soon after, she was forced to gather up her remaining children and flee her home as the Adhomai Liberation Army's forces drew terrifyingly close to where she lived. Farrah felt only relief when the Armistice of Shastar was signed, but she feels only anxiety about the future of her people and homeworld. She has lived through two civil wars already, and wouldn't be surprised at all if there was a third. Or even a fouth. As of 2467, Farrah's remaining children are grown and have left home to live their own lives and start their own families. Suffering from empty nest syndrome, lacking any purpose beyond going through the motions of day-to-day life, Farrah decided to take the plunge and venture off Adhomai for the first time in her life. She went to NanoTrasen for employment once more, and found herself assigned to a position aboard the SCCV Horizon. How has the recent events of the Orion Spur impacted your character? Events such as the Phoron Scarcity, the Solarian Collapse or even the Invasions of Biesel for interstellar-wide affairs, while region-specific events such as the Peacekeeper Mandate, The Titan Rises or even Cold Dawn may impact your character. Farrah's knowledge of the Orion Spur has been limited for most of her life, as she was a Zhan-Khazan laborer living in mostly rural environments. What she knows is flavored heavily by the lenses of PRA propaganda and Hadiism. She is distantly aware of the accomplishments, successes, and achievements in the NKA and the DPRA, and they make her fret that the PRA will fall behind, and be swallowed up by one of the other factions. In general, interstellar events have had little direct impact on her life, but they do cause her worry. These events create instability, and instability tends to ripple outwards, causing more destabilization as more lives, nations, and planets are affected. To Farrah, it isn't a matter of "if" interstellar affairs will one day restart war on Adhomai. It's a matter of "when." After all the Tajara Bans and the Solarian Invasion of Biesel, Farrah thinks that the Sol Alliance is getting its just desserts with the Collapse, though she would not wish a bloody civil war upon them - or anyone. How does your character view the megacorporation they work for? Farrah holds NanoTrasen in high esteem and respect, and is all too willing to turn a blind eye to any of NanoTrasen's less ethical activities, because she believes that she owes her successes and survival to the megacorporation. They gave her a job right out of school, where she met her husband. They were part of the Coalition of S'rrand'marr, who helped bring peace to Adhomai. And now, they have given her a third boon: an adventure into the unknown. 5
Alberyk Posted June 11 Posted June 11 Hello. Some questions: -Does Farrah have any religion? -Which hadiist schools of thought does she align herself with more?
ASmallCuteCat Posted June 11 Author Posted June 11 Like the majority of Zhan-Khazan Tajara, Farrah worships the Ma'ta'ke pantheon. She isn't the most pious of people, but she does offer up prayers and pay respects to the gods - particularly Marryam and Zhukamir - every now and then. Farrah falls mostly within the Orthodox Hadiism school of thought. Her adolescence was steeped in the benefits that Al'mari Hadii's changes brought about and she hopes that every Tajara will get to experience such prosperity. She isn't militant or radical, however. Ultimately, what she wants is peace and stability, and she believes that Al'mari Hadii's original principles are best for this. Her glasses might be slightly rose-tinted. The Totalist school of thought makes her uncomfortable - yes, she believes that the Hadiist Party knows what's best and should have the power to lead the PRA and Adhomai, but on the other hand, giving them too much power and control may turn them into the new nobility, just under a different name and banner. The expansionist and conquering aspect of Visionary Hadiism horrifies her, after how much war she's seen she doesn't want that inflicted anywhere else, and the idea of widespread augmentation and cybernetics makes her uneasy. Of the other schools of thought, Farrah's most comfortable with Young Hadiism, but she worries that too much change, too quickly, will plunge the PRA into chaos and infighting before anything positive can come of it.
