RandomHomelessGuy Posted Tuesday at 19:30 Posted Tuesday at 19:30 BYOND key: RandomHomelessGuy Discord Username: elorgrhg Character names: I have a tendency to focus on one character instead of playing several, and do not use the relay so I fear these are not recognizable, however Salvo Renn - Dreg, Security Officer, PMCG Zakari Keita - Suit, Surgeon, Zeng-Hu (deleted) Tadeusz Kania - Visegradi, Bridge Crew, SCC Thirizi Kazhkz - Dominian Unathi, Paramedic, NT (current main) How long have you been playing on Aurora? Hopefully this does not doom the application, but I started in January/February this year, so about 5-6 months now. Have you received any administrative actions? And how serious were they? None. Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph each. What do you think the OOC purpose of a Head of Staff is, ingame? I see the Head of Staff roles on Aurora as a bit of a beacon for other players to follow and listen to. A person who has a command whitelist, can reasonably – through OOC means, be seen as someone who knows a thing or two, and can be trusted with more than a thing or two. To inform, to communicate, to help guide new, and experienced players if they need help with anything, to organize the department, to solve greater issues, and to give them something to do in the off-chance there is nothing to do, even if it is not strictly mechanically necessary. Ideally? A Head of Staff should enhance the round, and through their IC authority find stuff to do. What do you think the OOC responsibilities of Whitelisted players are to other players, and how would you strive to uphold them? I may have overstepped into this part with my previous answer, but, a Head of Staff is first and foremost a managerial position, regardless of whether it is an HoS, a CE, or most definitely the Captain. To put it simply, a Head of Staff should do little beside ordering their underlings around and informing the other heads of staff about what is happening, and to involve themselves only in either severe circumstances, lack of staffing, or just being asked to replace someone (in their department) for a bit due to anything happening. A CMO doing surgery when there are two surgeons is not what they should be doing, unless both surgeons are dead or otherwise busy/in-disposable, however that happened. They, and hopefully I in the maybe near future, should believe that the characters they are managing are actually competent people that do not need help unless specifically asked. Explain how the recent events in the Spur changed your character and how they came to be employed on the SCCV Horizon. As someone born on Eridani IV close to the turn of the century, it always was an uphill battle. It always is for dregs, specifically if you end up in private prison for allegedly violating the Non-Aggression Protocol. Not the first time it happened, and it won’t be the last, but it is how the system works, and how it always worked. But instead of rotting in a cell, a suit comes up, with an offer to leave it all behind, and to redeem yourself, wouldn’t you take it? This is not much of a life after all. And so he listened, maybe out of morbid curiosity, but he did. His name and deeds forgotten, his hatred for corps wavering. A new dreg traitor was born. Arko became quite a stickler for rules and regulations just so they wouldn’t discard him and throw him back where they found him. Due to his… adaptable moral outlook, he excelled in Eagle Corp. In his off-time he studied, and through his excellent service he got into a Golden Fist sponsored program to study medicine abroad. He passed, and through a mountain of paperwork, eventually was allowed to transfer to Sekhmet Intergalactic, starting as a young, inexperienced resident surgeon. He was good at his job, and did well for himself, though due to his reinstatement he was often kept away from suit coworkers, just in case. Nevertheless, he managed to earn some commendations and promotions, not exactly for exceptional service, but for his loyalty. His defining moments, however, was the aftermath of the Solarian collapse, with the incredibly predatory treatment of the victims of the Violet Dawn incident, and then the subsequent formation of the PMCG, and his re-assignment to the Corporate Reconstruction Zone. There he, and the small team under his command reinforced the middling forces of the Republic of Biesel after its land grab against the collapsing Alliance. Now completely devoid of any dreg-originated corporation hatred, Arko has grown quite fond of the idea of both the newly formed PMCG and SCC, though it took some time for him to gather the guts, and free time, to petition his superiors for a re-assignment. But he did, now only to wait for the SCC to consider his application for the position of a Chief Medical Officer on the ship he heard so much about. What roles do you plan on playing after the application is accepted? CMO mainly. But I would also like to try the Corporate Liaison/Consular Officer, or even a Captain, eventually. I don’t yet feel comfortable with other departments to say anything about them yet, but time will tell. Have you familiarized yourself with the wiki pages for the command roles? I did, though I will most likely re-read them several times over. Characters you intend to use for command or have created for command. Include the job they will be taking: Arko Karikari, CMO Do you understand your whitelist is not permanent, and may be stripped following continuous administrative action? Of course, hopefully it won’t come to that. Have you linked your BYOND account to the Forums? Seems like I did, I think. Extra notes: No shame in trying, and failing is the first step on the road to success, or I might just not be cut out for commanding, we will see. Also, if there are issues with a reinstated dreg Head of Staff, I can re-write them to be just a suit, though I found no objections against such an origin on the wiki. I hope you enjoyed reading my application as much as enjoyed writing it. 1 Quote
CatsinHD Posted Tuesday at 20:38 Posted Tuesday at 20:38 I have interacted with RandomHomelessGuy (RHG to save space) fairly consistently in recent times through both OOC of the server, the interactions of Has and Kazhkz, and (to a lesser extent) the maincord. I have no doubts of their capability as a role player, or their ability to understand the departments they play and (potentially) command. I believe they would be capable of learning and handling a Command WL if given the chance. They deserve a solid +1. 1 Quote
