Voidsuit
Name: Kaviith Voidsuit.
Description: A repurposed salvaging voidsuit often seen around Coalition Space. Originally it was designed to be a cheap and modular option for corporations offering relatively high-performance and an anti scale-chafe lining. It saw limited success after the relative monopoly Hephaestus achieved over the Unathi market and most are now sold secondhand. This particular version has been heavily modified with an integrated wrist computer that often emits an irritating buzz, insulated fingertips, increased padding around the legs to make the suit more tolerable to wear over extended periods of time and a spinal support system that helps the operator withstand impacts. It's left shoulderpad was spraypainted heavily red a long time ago. And rumours circulate that certain less than savoury organisations of Sinta particularly like this voidsuit for how it easily accepts aftermarket modifications.

Helmet:
Name: Kaviith Helmet.
Description: This dull-grey helmet exudes a particularly industrial vibe, though the heavy smear of red paint up the left hand side in the shape of stylised claw markings does make it look somewhat less professional. It has a series of small, dully lit orange slits for a visor supposedly to reduce eyestrain with welding, and whoever speaks inside it sounds somewhat distorted, as if it were being processed through gravel.

 

Modkit:
Name: Kaviith Requsition Modkit.
Description: A small, heavily spraypainted box filled with metal plates, forms and wires. Everything you need to turn an engineering suit into a Kaviith.

 

Cloak:
Name: Repurposed BRV Cloak
Description: What was once a fairly boring piece of crimson cloth. Symbolic ships colours for either a frigate or a corvette, have been torn up, vandalised with abstract bone-white unathi symbols and repurposed to wrap itself around a body, it looks somewhat cozy strangely enough, quite good- it wouldn't look out of place in a Dominian Gala.

Item Function(s):
Voidsuit: Just a reskin, not unlike the Himean modkit for mining suits. But this one in particular works for the Unathi engineering voidsuit.
Modkit: The magic box used to turn a refitted engineering voidsuit into the WX-Kaviith.
Cloak: This is the big one. I wish for this cloak to work like the ponchos do. Wherein they can actually be attached to the voidsuit, not just worn by itself.

Why is your character bringing this item to work?:

Voidsuit: 
Hiskyn is a little bit more on the paranoid end. And after her CCIA incident canonised her getting spaced, combined with previous incidents such as a blob that was about the size of the entire second deck. I feel as if she would bring in some of her own equipment as she is the sort of person to seek safety through something material and a lot of shifts have her spending an extended period of time in said suit. Something like this voidsuit she'd be much quicker to trust with a couple of her own personal modifications rather than just the standard issue model. It's more aggressive appearance I think compliments her antisocial tendencies and self-admitted hatred of going on expeditions. What quicker way to get the local colour to leave you alone than by painting yourself red-black and evil all over?

Cloak: 
Furthermore, Hiskyn has a little bit of a grandstanding streak. The cloak is equal parts her attempting to mock Dominian nobility and a statement of intent, considering that it is in full Hiskyn colours while still having a level of plausible deniability. And while Hiskyn is used to the general temperature of starships such as the Horizon, the cloak would act as an extra layer of insulation whenever she was out on expedition.

How did your character obtain this item?:

Voidsuit: 
I imagine this one was a custom creation and personally ordered onto the Horizon whenever she got the oppurtunity. It's an older model that she has years of experience with, considering that Hiskyn has been preforming engineering work since she was a teenager, born around Oureran ports wherein inventions like this would've been used by technicians and always being sold as a competitive prices. It's a bit of tried-and-true technology, it's something that's familliar to her on a ship as unfamilliar as the corporate Horizon. As much as it would damage her pride to admit she more than likely went through all the official channels and certifications to ensure that the suit would actually be allowed on the work deck.

Cloak:
This was something that Hiskyn always had back whenever she was an active participant in the Hiskyn fleet, but previously she would have had it affixed to her wall in her apartment. But that would've changed recentlly with her move into a corapt with Az'ki Razsoso she would no longer see her room as a corporate-owned space that she would need Hiskyn insignias to dominate. On the other hand, the work deck, particularly that it's now becoming a more violent space with bombings and the security department carrying larger firearms as opposed to disruptors. I think the cloak was a form of evolution. The assumption that Hiskyn colours will somehow protect her.

What value does this item have to your character, and what story does it tell?:

Voidsuit:
The voidsuit is in a way, nostalgic, for all the big talk Hiskyn has about hating her upbringing. Sinta in general, she would sooner trust their technology than anyone else, it's a reminder of the things she's overcome and helps to stand as a way for her to differentiate herself from other walks of life, to her, this voidsuit is a walking argument against the Unathi values system, to her it's the direct contrast of a "fancy, overdesigned" Kataphract suit. I think the story it will generate is particularly interesting because it's aggressive design highlights something even sometimes I as a player put to the back of my mind. Hiskyn is a pirate.

Cloak:
This is the big one for Hiskyn's backstory. While the cloak was from her time in the fleet, she was not the person who defaced it. Hiskyn's former pirate crew is something I've thought quite often about, and wrote more than a handful of documents for, with them being one of the largest reasons for why she is the way that she is but they don't really tend to come up in conversation organically, and for most of Hisk's playtime I decided that she was far too emotionally closed off to even begin discussing them. But with the CCIA mandated resolution that she must attend therapy, I think the cloak is a way to get other players asking questions about her backstory. What made Hiskyn like this?

Hawkington is a solid roleplayer (not biased totally) and has crafted Hiskyn wonderfully. Hiskyn's drip is already peak, but no pirate's complete without a voidsuit and co. Love Hiskyn, love the items and their design. Complete +1

I also think Hawkington is a good roleplayer and really leans into making Hiskyn a character with a strong vibe. It's cool to see an item like this that will reflect one of the smaller Unathi tidbits (Hiskyn's Revanchists) and what one of them might wear. Super easy +1
