It's not about political correctness, it's about people being dicks and causing infinite drama. You may interpret her posts as lighthearted banter, but I don't think a whole lot of us see it that way.

Well, banning her for it is just catering to the most recent vocal masses (are they masses, though?) of the server. And ignoring the prior mission/mindset of the server. But, different schools of thought, I guess. Times change. Sometimes this can't be helped.

But see, for example: so many people wanted Sue gone because she was confrontational, or rude, or whatever. I tried treating her like a normal user nevertheless while I was headmin (ignoring whatever requests people were making as long as they were too ridiculous - talking to her in instances where she did step over the line), and save for a few people accusing me of favoritism (which I dismiss to this day), the world didn't end. Sue's still here, the server is working fine, and in all honesty, the people finding "offense" with whatever she might say and invoking tone policing tend to be a greater annoyance than any of her own posts could've been.

"yea, it's not political correctnes, she's just a drama causing bitch, because i interpret those posts differently then you do and she shouldn't have said that because i'm offended"

Doomberg, that's literally political correctness, i'm gonna go sleep now, i think you could really use some too.

mfw I just want to catbeast.

mfw there's another thread like this constantly

mfw people blame others for their own shittiness

mfw people fail to see the faults in what they did

Drama constantly. It's not even a problem, it's just drama. Somebody did something that a lot of people found not-okay. Somebody said something that some people do not like. Somebody did something that somebody else thought would be good to tell everybody about.

Somebody made a statement about something involving somebody else that somebody found out and told somebody else in order to out said somebody else.

Aurora is claimed to be cliquey. I went to the apartment server several times. Found nobody willing to leave their apartments because they were busy ERPing/talking alone. Meanwhile, on Aurora, I'm cited as being bad by people that enjoy the cliquey atmosphere, because I refuse to stop doing my job to RP in the bar with people.

mfw I can't win.

Cassy, the apartment server is little groups of people sitting alone talking to their friends only. It isn't a 'let's all do something after work', it's people RPing in a chatroom with little visual indicators that 'hey, I'm on a chair' or 'hey, I'm on a bed.' It's not fun to wander aimlessly expecting people to come out of their houses to say hi.

Aurora isn't bad. I've never seen it bad, in regard to anything people have said about it. Honestly, Sue has the best idea of how it's going. We've had an influx of those characters, and they won't last. They never will.

It's never as bad as anybody sees it. People just love to stroke a fire.

Sue lost her dev position because of the way she acts. Sue has been smacked over the head for the way she acts. Sue, however, did not do any of the other things mentioned, hence she is not permanently banned. And no, this is not a result of us listening to the "masses", so to speak.

Except the house server was kind of intended for off-station RP for me and like four other people. It was secret.

Other people found out and wanted to check it out. I said "okay", I was accommodating to most people, despite history with them or disagreements in the past. I tried to get people out of their houses, but in the end left them to their own devices. My characters particularly were interested in the disco, park and whatnot, but many Aurorians are still stuck in chair RP mode in their houses.

... Which is fine since, it's not a huge deal on a server that isn't accommodating a public playerbase or any gamemodes. It's a small private server that pretty much allowed anyone to do whatever they liked in regards of off-station RP. That's the opposite of cliquishness. Considering I've had to deal with some rude disrespectful shit:

You know, I was reading the other thread, and something about it pissed me off. I couldn't quite place what. Then it hit me.

That thread exists. Cassie was banned for her actions. Whether or not I feel she should have been, it appears justifiable, but instead of a private conversation, it was made public. For everyone to toss their opinion. Because you wanted another shot at cass before you sent her off. A chance to put it all in front of a crowd to make her look bad one last time.

This could have been a private matter. It SHOULD have been a private matter. But no, you had to make a goddamned spectacle of the fucking thing.

Edit: I'm taking my hands off this. I'm both too tired and too angry to be ranting and raving.

We can do this and face accusations of trying to make a spectacle of her ban, or we can take the alternative and face accusations of covertly dismissing undesirables. There is no winning.

The second somebody began spreading ERP logs to others so they could laugh and mock them, it became a public matter. There is no 'behind the shadows' aspect of this anymore. If somebody wants to make private matters public, they'll have their own brought into the light.

It may not be right. But it's what's fair.

Perhaps I'm crazy, but is it really necessary to address this?

Things have been said. Opinions have been made known.

I don't think anything constructive is going to come out of continueing this discussion.

You started a server catering to the desires of a small group of people, while claiming Aurora is cliquey. That's hypocrisy.

You chose to release logs on somebody, so your own private group of people (who you had outlaw several others from joining because "we no liek these guise :c") can laugh at people, and mock them for doing something they thought would be held in private between admins, their partner, and whoever may be ghosting.

Call it hypocrisy, but you asked for this, Cassy. I literally don't give two shits about the logs, or you, or your opinion on the server, but when you and your little group of friends decide to shit-talk us every chance you get, there's a fucking door, and you're free to leave, anytime you feel like it.

We'll be better off without you, and I can honestly say, I'd rather you have never joined at all.

I love rainbows. They are so pretty. All those colors in the sky. Reminds me of what's what.

I love you all, very much. I like it here, I like you all and all of your creativity. When I felt like I didn't have a home or friends, you were there for me. When I thought the loneliness might kill me, you came through.

Whatever the outcome, I will still love you.

Actually, the main jist of the logs weren't done in grudge, but mostly in humour. I found the concept of a Skrell vagina very amusing and it was a very hilarious read - the chat really enjoyed it, but, continuing on. I still operate on the rule that ERP not done in skype (regardless of viewed via ghost chat or admin logs) is pretty much fair read. Good luck charming the new members with your self-proclaimed psychopathic security officer or one of your fetish characters, because that will be very interesting.

Aurora was sinking before I came, and it will continue to sink after I leave. Just so you know. Good luck either way, you will honestly need it.

Okay, here's something that's bugging me about this ban. Main thing, in fact, at this point.

Like, the way it's been presented, I'm sure the issue with Cassie has been hotly deliberated among staff for a time, until everyone could come to the consensus that her actions as a whole were ground for a permaban + that announcement warning everyone about her server.

If admins were able to take a clear and informed decision resulting in this ban, then why is it so hard for them to explain it to us? Shouldn't the people in charge of this decision have a reasonably general idea of what happened? I feel like if you know what's going on with a topic, then you should be able to explain it relatively concisely. Yet all I've seen so far are invitations to read Cassie's entire post history.

mfw all M'rychny does is toy with emotions.

mfw I don't even play him anymore.

mfw I apparently have 'fetish' characters, yet don't play characters more than a few days at a time.

mfw you still didn't state why I'm embarassed.

On that wonderful note, I'm going to do my job and say that Forum rules have been broken in this thread, namely;

Don't be a dick

No personal attacks/nonconstructive debate

I'm not going to muck around with who's to blame here, and just say this:

Personal attacks against people will not be tolerated.

There is no place on this forum or this server for hurtful public shaming, especially not by staff.

This thread has served little purpose beyond inciting a volatile debate.

Any constructive discussion regarding the validity of Cassie's ban have been hindered thus far, and it doesn't look like that's changing.

I am locking down this thread for now. Any further discussion on Cassie's ban will start off on a new slate, and the forum rules will be enforced this time around.

If anyone has any objections to this, or wants to unlock this thread, PM me.

As a note, if anyone makes another thread about this in the next 48 hours, it will be closed.

You had your chance and every time a post gets closed, people think that they can make another thread and it will be ok.

This is exactly why the thread Frances was locked, making new threads about something that got another thread closed right after doesn't help or show that you have taken time to think about it.

Responsibility from you has been lifted, take the 48 hours as a cooldown period.
